Story
ABOUT ME… Hi, I’m Basil! I was born in rescue on January 16, 2025, and I’m the very last of my litter still looking for my furever home. I’m a boxer mix (my mama is 49 lbs of classic boxer and happily in her furever home, but dad’s a total mystery!), and I’ve got a big heart packed into my now 24-pound, 3-month-old self. Lately, I’ve been full of puppy energy. I love getting the zoomies and racing around like a little rocket! But don’t worry, I’m still a total cuddlebug and will happily climb right into your lap (yes, I do believe with all my heart and mind that I still fit. What is it cats say? “If I fits, I sits”? That’s so me!). I like hanging out by your feet when you’re cooking and will always be your #1 kitchen helper and taste tester. I’ve started exploring outside more and am very curious about the world, watching movement in the yard and checking out what the neighbors are up to. I adore my toys, I love treats (seriously, I get SO excited!), and I enjoy playing either on my own or with other animals, like my foster siblings. I've even become a bit of a charming opportunist. I recently managed to sneak a treat out of a basket at the vet’s office. I mean, if it’s within reach, isn’t that an open invitation? I’m also an A+ co-pilot. I ride shotgun like a champ, switching between peeking out the window and curling up next to my foster mom for a nap. Total road trip vibes. I’ve been through a couple of returns (my foster mom and everyone who knows me says it’s their loss!), which set me back a little with my potty training, but I’m bouncing back beautifully and diligently on a routine. I surprised everyone by growling when I saw my brother at the vet. Apparently, I didn’t want to share all the pets and love I was soaking up from the staff. I mean, a guy’s got to soak up the spotlight when he gets the chance, right? (Is this MY toxic trait??) I AM GOOD WITH… All people Other dogs Crate time Car rides (excellent travel companion!) I’M WORKING ON… Potty training (doing great on a routine!) Leash training If you're looking for a playful, affectionate pup with a heart of gold, a dash of mischief, and a lot of love to give, I might just be your guy. I can’t wait to meet you! ___ VETTING... ~All animals in our care are spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (age 1 & up), given preventatives, and provided with initial vaccinations AT MINIMUM. ~If booster shots have not been completed prior to adoption, they may be completed at our clinic in Columbus, OH at no additional expense. Alternatively, the adopter can use their own vet to boost vaccinations, at their own expense. TERMS & CONDITIONS... ~Adopters must reside in the State of Ohio. ~No transportation assistance is provided; adopter must commute for meet & greet. ~Meet & greets are not scheduled until there is an approved adoption application on file. ~The expectation is that you will bring your new pet home from the meet & greet, if all goes well. Meet this incredible survivor! Found in Tipton County, this sweet boy was skin and bones, hairless, and overlooked by so many. We couldn’t leave him behind, and he’s come so far—from 17 to 36 lbs! With love, warmth, and plenty of food, his personality has blossomed. He adores other dogs, all people, his crate, and especially toys and sweaters. He’s house-trained, food-motivated, and ready for his forever home. Could it be with you? Once adopted he will travel via the Rescue Transport to his new family. They travel every weekend from Memphis, Tennessee to the north east, delivering pups along the way as far north as West Greenwich, Rhode Island. Transport is an additional $185. If you would like to make this cutie part of your family please follow the link below to our adoption application. Story
Roxie is a 7 year-old Boxer/Doberman mix who weighs 67 lbs. She was surrendered to CHA when her owner could no longer care for her. Her previous owner reported that she lived with cats, children, and other dogs. Since being at CHA, she has done well meeting other dogs, but prefers to coexist rather than play. Though she is an older girl who enjoys those leisurely moments, she still has a lot of pep in her step! She loves to play with her stuffed toys, play bowing and throwing them around the room. Roxie also likes exploring and is a great walking buddy with wonderful leash manners. If you`re looking for a playful, affectionate, intelligent dog, come meet Roxie today!

Story
Connie is quite the underdog. Living chained to a trailer and sleeping in deep mud, Connie produced litter after litter of puppies while never receiving any vet care whatsoever. The family finally agreed to surrender her and her only surviving pup (who was living in a small crate outdoors, and has now been adopted).Connie came to us emaciated and positive for several internal parasites, including heartworm and tick diseases. After several months of vet care, Connie is now heartworm free!!!Everyone at the vet loves Connie and her happy personality. Connie is good with other dogs but often intimidates dogs with her strong personality until they get to know her.Connie is approximately 45 pounds. She does have 'weak knees' which cause her to walk with stiff back legs on occasion. This is managed with oral medication as needed for pain. In general, Connie gets around really well and loves going on leash walks.Connie was on restricted exercise while going through her heartworm treatment and can't wait to run and play again!Apply for Connie at ricopetrecovery.org Her adoption fee is $250.
