Story
Meet Petrie – Your New Best Friend in Puppy Form! Petrie is an adorable, speckled-nosed, mixed-breed puppy, and he’s already stealing hearts everywhere he goes. With his gorgeous, shiny black coat and the sweet white marking on his face, he’s as handsome as they come—but it’s his personality that really seals the deal. This little guy is incredibly affectionate and absolutely loves to cuddle. When he’s not snuggled up for a nap, Petrie is busy being a happy, playful puppy—sleeping hard, playing hard, and soaking up all the love. He does wonderfully with other dogs and would be thrilled to have a canine buddy in his forever home. For such a young pup, Petrie is already doing excellent with potty training, and he’s food motivated, which makes training fun and rewarding. He’s just beginning crate training and is off to a great start. One of his most charming traits? Petrie is a little “talker”—he makes the most adorable sounds that will keep you smiling all day long. Petrie is looking for a family ready to continue his puppy training, give him lots of love, and enjoy all the joy that comes with raising a young pup. In return, he promises endless cuddles, laughs, and unconditional love. If you’re ready for a sweet, snuggly, chatty puppy to grow up by your side, Petrie just might be your perfect match.

Story
You won’t need to pull out your high school literature books to fall in love with our lovely, Juliet like boxer mix, Capulet. She doesn’t need long wavy hair to garnish affection; her wiggly butt and short wagging nub tail is all she needs to make you fall in love! A sturdy 62 lb young adult, Capulet is curious, always wants to be in the middle of the action and loves a good lean in for affection from our volunteers. This young lady appears to have suffered an injury at some time to the top of her head but isn't slowed to dimmed at all by that both in abilities and spirit. She’s found several dog friends at Saving Grace in her play groups and while she loves the outdoors, she’s particularly fond of a warm bed in cooler temperatures. She walks well on a leash and will be a great walking partner and keep you on your toes! Sleepover feedback: " She sleeps through the night and is cuddly. She's gentle taking treats and does ok on the leash. She likes all the people and never barked once". Weekend Host Feedback: “We had a great weekend with Capulet! No cats introduced, the neighbors dog barked and a few other's and she didn't bark back. interested in passing dogs but not reactive at all. Not bothered by squirrels either! She's ok on the harness leash but needs more practice. She's a quick learner! Capulet would sit for treats on the 2nd day and took them very gently. Not a huge fan of car rides but once in she rides fine and very well behaved. She did not want to go in the crate but just throw a treat and she goes in no problem, slept well at night. Was house trained no accidents at all. She'd cry in morning to alert us about 6.30am - 7am to go out for her pee. She's food motivated which helps with training. Think she would do well with folks that enjoys trail walks and running as she ran alongside us well. Her snoring is very loud and very funny / cute. She's such a gentle soul that we feel very lucky to have met her! If we didn’t travel so much for work would have loved her to stay longer and we pray she finds a kind owner soon.”

Story
(DOB 09/20/2019) I am dog friendly, kid friendly, friendly to cats and small animals, too. I really want a fenced in yard to run, play and explore. I can do well as a single dog, or with friends. My favorite activities are going out for a jog, lounging on the couch, or in my chair. (My chair can come with me to my new home.) If you are into neat features, known for my beautiful light blue eye and the other one is sparkly brown. It's kind of signature. I am house trained and crate trained, so no worries there! If you are looking for a sweet boy with a great personality, I know you will love me! As part of Basil’s $300 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Basil, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##743382##

Story
(DOB 05/30/2024) Skye, the one-eyed wonder with a heart full of love and a personality that shines! One eye, with two times the amount of character and all the charm & love you could ask for. Skye is a sweet & friendly girl who gets along great with other dogs, but she’d also be perfectly happy as your one and only, soaking up all the cuddles and attention.  Skye loves a big fenced in yard, and we think that would be the best option for her unless her fur-ever had plenty of time to get her energy out daily. She'll do zoomies and then run right back to you for more love and attention. If you have play equipment in the yard, Skye isn't scared of it and will go up stairs, slide down the slide with you, so a family with older kids that would love a furry playmate, she could be a good fit. She'll chase after a ball if she is excited, but isn't really interested (at this time) in bringing it back to you, ha ha. She’s a good girl who keeps her crate tidy and is making steady progress with potty training. Skye walks on a leash well enough — she’s still learning, and she can get a little enthusiastic and underfoot, but that just makes her all the more adorable! She’s a quiet, curious girl who loves exploring new things and discovering the world around her. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion; she is a bit of a velcro dog and will follow you with her eye, follow her favorite person around, and follow you with her whole heart!! She definitely has a wonderful character and a whole lot of heart, sol look no further if LOVE is what you are looking for, Skye might just be your perfect match! As part of Skye’s $300 adoption fee, she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. Story
Zion is a bouncy and playful pup who loves playing fetch and exploring. He enjoys walks with his human and also thrives when he has room to romp and play in a fenced-in yard. With his ADORABLE underbite and a talent for making the funniest faces, Zion will keep you smiling with his charm. Zion is very affectionate and loves belly rubs, head massages and cuddle sessions. Zion is treat-motivated and has already learned commands like "sit" and "stay." He's even got the hang of bringing his Kong to his designated blanket area for some enrichment. While he does get excited when we (his foster parents) come home, we're working on helping him manage that enthusiasm. When out on walks, he remains calm and non-reactive around cyclists, people, and other dogs.In his dog playgroup at the shelter, Zion started out cautiously, but it wasn't long before he was happily bouncing around with his playmates. He is a sweetheart, especially during one-on-one playtime. Zion is a true gem who thrives as part of a pack and would love a forever home where he can explore, play, and make you laugh every day! Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Mack is a gentle, old-soul gentleman who believes the best things in life are the quiet moments-a soft nuzzle, a peaceful walk, or a calm lean against a trusted human. He doesn't demand the spotlight or jump around; instead, he offers steady, loving companionship and a calming presence that makes any home feel a little warmer. In playgroup, Mack was respectful but a bit grumbly. As an older dog, his high-energy days are behind him. He can get a little squawky when other dogs bounce around too much, and his movements are slow and deliberate, suggesting his joints may ache. His pace is steady and measured, perfect for someone who appreciates a calm, predictable companion.Mack is looking for a patient, understanding human who can be his anchor-a person who will help him feel safe and secure in the world. He thrives on quiet connection, gentle walks, and the comfort of knowing he's loved. For someone seeking a loyal, affectionate, low-key companion, Mack is an absolute treasure.Although he is heartworm positive, it is treatable and not contagious. Friends of Wake County Animal Center has provided a $600 sponsorship to help cover the cost of treatment. He is up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick, and heartworm prevention, is microchipped, and will be neutered prior to going home. If you have dogs or cats, we recommend slow introductions over time. If you have children in your home, we recommend supervision between animals and children at all times.
