Story
Meet Winter Winter is a 1-2 year-old Boxer/Terrier mix, (about 40 lbs) with a playful spirit and a heart ready to belong to someone of her own. After raising a litter of nine puppies (yes… nine! ), it’s finally her turn to be the one cared for. She’s still a puppy at heart—eager to learn, food-motivated, and wanting so badly to get it right. Winter is the perfect mix of fun and snuggly. She loves to play, chew on her favorite antlers, chase ice cubes, and then curl up close for bedtime cuddles. She rides great in the car and enjoys being with her people. She’s house trained and crate trained (even if it’s not her favorite), and continues to work on leash manners. She can be a little jumpy/mouthy when excited, so a home without very young kids would be best. She may also be a little timid at first, but warms up quickly! Winter is looking for someone to show her the ropes—and in return, she’ll give you her whole heart.   Applications can be filled out at www.piedmontanimalrescue.com/adopt!  Petfinder and Adopt-A-Pet does NOT send us Applications.   We receive many applications and many never respond after processing GREATLY delaying the pets forever home.  Please only apply if you are serious about adopting.  Please also make sure your pets are up to date on you species applicable Vaccines (rabies, Distemper/Parvo, FVRCP, Bordetella), spayed/neutered, and on Heartworm prevention if a canine.   The adoption fee includes their age appropriate vaccinations(DA2PP and Bordetella), Dewormer, spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm test as well as the registration of their microchip information to you. ##2647919##

Story
Meet Chevelle! ????Chevelle came to us as a stray after she was found along a busy interstate. Her finder kept her safe until we opened, and quickly fell in love with her sweet personality. She even said she would have kept Chevelle herself if not for housing restrictions — that’s how wonderful this girl is. ??Chevelle was microchipped, but unfortunately the registered owner never responded to our emails, and the phone number on file wasn’t valid. So now, this super sweet, friendly girl is officially searching for a new forever family — one who will keep her safe and never let her return to life as a stray again. Her finder shared some wonderful notes about her time in their home:• She got along great with their puppy• She did very well in a crate• Only had a couple of accidentsSuch a good girl! ??We also introduced her to another canine friend here at the shelter. Chevelle allowed polite sniffs, had a slight hackle raise at first, but stayed very calm and kept her tail wagging the whole time. She’s social, gentle, and sweet — but she will definitely tell you she does NOT enjoy a needle poke (the vet team can vouch for that!). ????Come meet lovely Chevelle in person and let her steal your heart just like she’s stolen ours!We always recommend meet & greets with other dogs and children before adopting to ensure the best fit for everyone.?? Location: 430 Bristol Drive, Statesville? Hours:Monday–Friday: 12–5 pmSaturday: 11 am–2 pm?? Adoption Fee: 8??0?? Story
Ivy went on a foster getaway recently, and her foster shared this wonderful update about their time together:?? “If you want a dog as sweet as her name, Ivy is the one for you. We call her a velcro dog (stuck to your side), because Ivy knows no personal space between humans and animals — in the best way possible. At home, she adored being close to her foster humans. ‘Pet me’ was definitely Ivy’s love language! She met a 4-year-old during an outing to Ben & Jerry’s ?? and couldn’t stop wagging her tail. She stood politely, didn’t jump, and enjoyed every pet from her new friend. While in public, she waits to be approached — she never rushes up to people! During her week with us, she only had two accidents, both in the first couple of days. She loves to sleep in her crate with a cozy bed, but doesn’t like being locked in.???? If you’re looking for a fun, outgoing dog who gets along with everyone (even ??), Ivy is your girl.” ?? Ivy was especially fond of her foster’s 9-year-old son — she slept with him at night (when not choosing her unlocked crate) and even cried when he left for school. She also did beautifully with their resident dog and was a perfect angel on all of their “field trips” together. Her foster did have a cat whom Ivy did get along with, however she would push that personal-space-button. ??She was also a great car rider!! ?????? Ivy greets everyone who visits her at the shelter with a wagging tail and so much excitement to spend time with them. She hopes to find a family who, like her foster family, gives her the chance to settle in with patience, understanding, and positive reinforcement.?? We always recommend meet-and-greets with dogs and children already in the home before adoption to ensure the best match for everyone.?? We invite you to come meet her in person and see for yourself just how sweet she truly is. She would love to earn a permanent spot next to you on the couch for future movie nights! ????? Ivy is housebroken, crate trained (unlocked, please!), and knows sit/down.?? Location: 430 Bristol Drive, Statesville?? Hours:• Monday–Friday: 12–5pm• Saturday: 11am–2pm?? Adoption Fee: 8??0???? Remember the 3-3-3 Rule when adopting a shelter pet:• 3 days to decompress• 3 weeks to learn the routine• 3 months to feel at home ????
