Story
Dawson is a floofy young pup with a little growing left to do before he fills out his frame. Quiet in his kennel, he gently greets new people with a thoughtful curiosity. Dawson is clearly a smart guy, too; he learned "down" in just a few minutes (though treats definitely played a starring role). With his sweet nature and eager mind, Dawson feels like the beginning of a really great story-one he hopes to write with you. He is already neutered and up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick and heartworm prevention, and is microchipped. If you have cats, we recommend slow introductions over time. If you have children in your home, we recommend supervision between animals and children at all times. If you're interested in learning more about him, please reach out to our volunteer matchmakers at wcac.matchmaker@gmail.com with the subject line "Dawson, 266784". Story
Mack is a gentle, old-soul gentleman who believes the best things in life are the quiet moments-a soft nuzzle, a peaceful walk, or a calm lean against a trusted human. He doesn't demand the spotlight or jump around; instead, he offers steady, loving companionship and a calming presence that makes any home feel a little warmer. In playgroup, Mack was respectful but a bit grumbly. As an older dog, his high-energy days are behind him. He can get a little squawky when other dogs bounce around too much, and his movements are slow and deliberate, suggesting his joints may ache. His pace is steady and measured, perfect for someone who appreciates a calm, predictable companion.Mack is looking for a patient, understanding human who can be his anchor-a person who will help him feel safe and secure in the world. He thrives on quiet connection, gentle walks, and the comfort of knowing he's loved. For someone seeking a loyal, affectionate, low-key companion, Mack is an absolute treasure.Although he is heartworm positive, it is treatable and not contagious. Friends of Wake County Animal Center has provided a $600 sponsorship to help cover the cost of treatment. He is up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick, and heartworm prevention, is microchipped, and will be neutered prior to going home. If you have dogs or cats, we recommend slow introductions over time. If you have children in your home, we recommend supervision between animals and children at all times. Primary Color: White Weight: 63.5 Age: 7yrs 10mths 3wks

Story
Billy is an incredibly loving dog, he cares about his people more than anything and will be a very snuggly and comforting and playful guy. He loves walks and car rides and running around outside, but also is totally happy chilling on the couch and playing with toys indoors. He has a hard time getting to know new people, and will be pretty shy/scared for some time until he trusts you, but once he trusts you, he’s all in on the love. He is very scared of other dogs though, and can get mean around them, i would recommend not being around other dogs unless on a walk on a leash, and even then only briefly. He can get scared of children in the same way, and needs to not be around them in case he lets his fear turn to aggression. We have a one year old who, now that he is mobile, has caught Billy off guard a few times and Billy’s fear in that moment shows us that they unfortunately cannot be together safely.

Story
After nearly eight years together, we are seeking a loving new home for Felix. Felix is a wonderful 8 year old companion who has been with us since he was a 8 months old. He is calm and independent at home, though he is famous for carrying his special ball with him wherever he goes. He is a loyal dog who bonds deeply with his people and is good on a leash, making him the perfect partner for long walks or hikes and keeps close even when off leash. While he is social and enjoys playing with other dogs, he has found it difficult to adjust to the high energy of our one-year-old. Felix is perfectly fine sharing a room with children who understand boundaries, but he likes his personal space and would be happiest in a home with older kids or adults only. We want to ensure he finds a family that can offer him the affection and boundaries he needs to thrive.

Story
Daisy is a 3-year-old, 60-pound, spayed Pit Bull mix who has already survived more than most dogs ever should—yet she remains one of the sweetest, most affectionate souls you’ll ever meet. Her story began when she was found wandering the woods in Broadway, pregnant and alone. She disappeared for a couple of weeks, and when she was finally seen again, her puppies were nowhere in sight. Through the community, it was later learned that her babies were either taken or tragically run over. Her condition made it apparent that she had endured multiple litters. Despite everything she experienced, Daisy never gave up. When she was safely trapped, it quickly became clear that she had belonged to someone at some point. She knew her commands, was crate trained, and was comfortable on car rides. On her very first night safe indoors, this “feral woods dog” climbed straight into a lap and melted in—choosing trust, choosing love. While it’s obvious she was not always treated kindly, what shines even brighter is her incredible capacity for forgiveness and connection. Beneath her rough start is a dog who simply wants to love and be loved. Daisy does well with other dogs but would also be perfectly happy as the only pup in the home. She does not do well with cats, so a cat-free home is required. She will thrive with continued training, structure, and—most importantly—patience. At 60 pounds, she’s the perfect mix of strong and snuggly. Daisy is affectionate to her core—a leaner, a cuddler, a lap-seeker. She bonds deeply and loves wholeheartedly. Daisy is looking for a home that sees how special she is, understands that healing takes time, and is ready to receive the kind of loyalty only a dog like her can give. She survived. She forgave. She chose love. Now, she just needs someone to choose her.

Story
Hi I'm Waffles! I've been the apple of my parents' eyes since they brought me home in November 2023. I am known for my legendary greeting at the door with a toy and full-body tail wag! I'm a big lover and want to be involved whenever there is affection shown- let me in on those kisses! I love my cat brothers and my favorite is playing with other dogs. I would thrive in a home with a doggo sibling, however my brand new human sibling is not a good match for me. I'm crate trained and I know several commands from the training that I've completed! I'm not a high energy dog, as I'd much rather lay on the couch with possibly a little fetch for a few minutes a day! I take a minute to warm up to new men. If we sound like we could be a match, let's meet!
