River is our resident superstar. He is a very shy boy but has come a very long way. River would do best in a calm home without small children. Nitro is a smart and friendly 4-year-old male dog who is looking for a forever home after being returned to the shelter when his previous owners no longer wanted him. He was adopted from the shelter as a young pup and now, after 3.5 years, he is back with us. He is a big boy who is athletic and loves to run and play. He would benefit from a home with a fenced-in yard where he can run and play to his heart's content. Nitro is a charming and happy dog who is affectionate and gets along with people. He is a handsome boy who is sure to steal your heart. Nitro is fully vetted and ready to go to his forever home. If you think that Nitro might be the right dog for you, please come and meet him today to see if he is the missing piece in your heart and home. Maybe Nitro will be the sweetest surprise you ever gave yourself! If you have another dog and are interested in meeting another potential new furry member please bring him or her to the shelter and meet on neutral ground before adopting. No need to shuffle the animals around any more than necessary. Please know that 1 mosquito bite can create heart worms and they can be fatal if not treated. It is VERY important to keep your pets healthy and protected by keeping them on a once a month heart worm and flea/tick prevention. These animals are counting on you as their owner to provide them with lots a love and the proper health care so PLEASE make sure you are aware and prepared before adopting. Owning a pet is an extra expense and responsibility but is so worth every minute and penny you invest in them. They will add lots of joy and unconditional love if given a fair chance. The shelter is open Mon.-Fri. 10-1, 2-5, Sat. 10-4. Adopt a homeless pet and save a life. If you can not adopt right now come out and volunteer and make a difference in the lives of these animals while they await their FOREVER home. In order to adopt any of our "bully breeds" there is special paper work that will need to be collected and approved prior to the adoption. We love all of our dogs and want to make sure to place our "bully babies" in homes best suited for them.

Meet Onion, a sweet and loyal companion. Onion has been in foster and this is what they have to say about him `Onion is a very good boy. He loves car rides and pup cups. He is a very loyal dog and gets so excited for his daily walks. Onion is the best cuddler and so good with other dogs and children. He’s very smart and knows sit, lay down, shake, and spin. When he gets the zoomies it’s the most adorable thing ever and loves to play tug of war when that happens. Onion loves his naps and is very chill but he also has a good balance of energy. He also loves running around in a backyard and playing with his toys.` Onion can be cautious with new people especially men but he has done wonderful warming up and becoming best friends with HSEC staff and volunteers.

Remi & Apollo are brothers! Born 12/5/23. Up to date on vaccines. They are sweet! Lap dogs when allowed to be. They get along with my 13-year-old Goolden doodle, my 4-year-old GSP, as well as my 3-year-old Labradoodle and Cat! However, they are not getting along well with my 9-month-Old great Pyrenees. They are crate trained & sleep together in a crate every night. They are trained on an inground fencing system. They have just recently started eating once a day. Usually in the evenings. They eat 3 cups of food each. They have separate bowls and feed at the same time, with no problems. Remi is a cuddle buddy, and while Apollo likes attention, he isn't as adamant about getting it. I rescued them as 6-week-old puppies. They have always been skittish, around strangers but never aggressive towards any human. Good with my nieces and nephews. I'm hoping to find them a new forever home, while my intentions to save them were pure, I have overloaded my plate.
