Our dogs are fostered and located in North Carolina until adopted. Once adopted we can transport to your location or to one of the other north eastern locations. We have a cost effective transporter who runs every other week. This sweetie was born 12-1-22. She is a boxer mix. She is a bit shy until she gets to know you. However, she warms up fast. She likes everyone and is good with kids. She does well with other dogs but she does not like cats. She is potty trained and crate trained. She really is the sweetest humble soul ever! This pup is current in all age appropriate vaccines, preventives, heartworm tested and on prevention and microchipped. She will be spayed prior to going to her new home.The adopter will get all the health records with the adoption. We require a prescreen application to adopt. A family was selling a litter of 5 week old, Boxer/Pit Bull puppies from the back of their car on a chilly, windy day. I was not looking to purchase a puppy, but felt so sorry for the smallest one, curled up in a tight ball trying to stay warm. We have a three year, 65 pound, poodle mix and thought she would be a great friend for him. We named her Jolene and she has been a great addition to our family. Unfortunately, we have had to make a life change and will not be able to keep Jolene. She is 9 months old, house broken, current on all vaccines and spayed. She loves other dogs, good with children, cats and people in general. Jolene is a very sweet girl, loves to play, is very social, and wants to make you happy.

Meet Moose! This handsome middle-aged gentleman we believe is a Boxer Lab Pit mix. Moose weighs about 60 pounds but would gladly put on a few extra unneeded pounds if given the chance! Moose AKA Grandpa has a few things he would like to share with everyone: "Hello There!! My name is Moose and my favorite things in the entire world are Food, Naps, relaxing with my humans, and did I say FOOD?!!! My Foster momma says I'm working hard on learning house rules as she doesn't think I had many rules previously. I'm slowly learning how to play with toys and play with my five other fur siblings. Foster Mom says I'm a little socially awkward when it comes to playing but I do fully enjoy their company. I love watching them play... think of me as a fan in the crowd cheering for my team! So far my foster mom has learned that every new person is my BFF. Although I love people, I won't drag you over to meet someone new I will patiently wait until they come over to say HELLO and pray they have a snack for me! I meet new dogs appropriately, I'm amazing in the crate, house trained, and I won't pull you down the street. I'm extremely treat motivated, good with other dogs, and a perfect gentleman with Foster Mom's 6-month old daughter. I know I sound perfect so far because I am and I'd love to tell you more about myself when you inquire about me! Also if you have gotten to the end of my speech I want to thank you and let you know that my nickname is Grandpa because I can fall asleep anywhere, in any position, and start snoring in an instant like your typical Grandpa. Come meet our adoptable dogs on Saturdays from 11am to 1pm in the backyard at AARF's new location- 302 Thurston St, W-S. Go to AARFWS.org to view and apply for our AARF dogs. Information about the process is available on our website. Remember that we do not adopt more than a 45-minute radius from our facility in Winston Salem.
