Story
Meet Athena, a lovely 4-year-old Boxer mix searching for a new home. Athena has faced many challenges in the past few weeks and is eager to find a loving family to help her relax and move forward.A couple of weeks ago, Athena was surrendered to the shelter by her previous family. She was briefly adopted for about a week but was returned because she became nervous and flighty in new situations. This made it difficult for her adopter to catch her in a fenced yard after being let off her leash. Athena is housebroken, crate-trained, and enjoyed spending time with her adopter`s other dog.Once Athena feels comfortable and secure, her true personality shines. She is incredibly friendly and affectionate and thrives outside of the shelter environment. This lovable girl needs a patient and understanding family who can give her the time to adjust and decompress. If you are looking for a sweet and loyal companion, Athena would love to meet you! You will inspire her to thrive in her new life by providing her with a safe and loving home. Your patience and kindness will lead to a truly grateful friendship. Come say hi and give her the opportunity to brighten your life and hers!

Story
Our beautiful Gracie Ann... what can we tell you about her in this short bio? She was found some months back, dumped in a grocery store parking lot. Alone and scared. No idea why she was dumped, no idea what she had done wrong to be deserted. One of our rescue partners called us and we jumped into action! While, we normally cannot take dogs larger than 35#, we couldn't say "no". She needed us! Gracie joined the pack of one of our fabulous fosters and fell into the role of loving life, indoors and warm! When Gracie came to us, we thought she was pregnant. Her stomach was full like she was ready to give birth. We waited. No puppies. She ate a lot.... still no puppies. We took her to the vet and confirmed, not pregnant but was in heat. Her foster mom would be out of town for a few weeks, and we would have her spayed when she returned. Gracie started losing weight rapidly. We rushed her to the vet and found out that she had pyometra. This is life or death! One vet wanted to put her to sleep because the procedure is so costly! For a rescue, $5k is a lot to absorb! We got a second opinion and are so glad that we did! Our vet gave us hope! Gracie had the surgery that afternoon and it was touch and go for a while. She stayed in the hospital for days. Today, she is fully healthy! Her bloodwork is perfect! Gracie is 23 months old. She is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative and on prevention. She is spayed and chipped. Gracie is housetrained and can be trusted outside of a crate. She is such a great dog! She will do best in a home with another dog as she LOVES to play, and we do not feel that placing her without a companion is in her best interest. If you have room in your home and your heart for this sweetheart of a girl, please complete the adoption application, below: https://acfrescue.weebly.com/adoption-foster-and-volunteer-applications.html

Story
Luke and his sister came into Ruff Love Rescue as a bonded pair.  They came to us after their previous owner encountered medical issues that left her unable to continue to care for them.  Luke and his sister Lizzie didn't care too much for other dogs, but they loved one another and were devoted to one another. Unfortunately, in April of 2024, Lizzie's health deteriorated significantly and she died, leaving Luke alone, without his sister.  He is, as you can imagine, a little lost without his sister. He doesn't like it when another dog gets in his face, so to be safe, it would be best if he were an only dog. Luke's vet estimated year of birth is 2011.   Luke is such a sweet dog.  He would make a great companion, especially to someone who can provide a warm room with a soft bed and a loving touch.  Luke is house trained. He's a sweet older gentleman who would love a home.  Could you make sure the rest of his life is the best of his life?  ~~ Adoption donation $150. All vetting is up to date. Microchipped and altered. Also on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. Visit www.ruffloverescue.com to make this pup a member of your familyNovember 5, 2024, 5:56 pm

Story
Hubcap is a sweet and loving girl, estimated 5 months old. 30 pounds now, so she will be a small to medium sized dog when full grown. She came to us from a sad situation, but she hasn't let that get her down. She remains playful and bubbly. Hubcap is a mixed breed puppy, maybe some pit bull, mixed with something small. We do know she is a delight. Puppies require work and time. Basic puppy obedience classes are a great way to bond with your new puppy. Hubcap is up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, has been started on heartworm and flea preventative and her adoption fee includes a voucher for the mandatory spay and microchip.

Story
Davie is a very sweet and lovable 2 year old Pit Bull type dog. He weighs 56 pounds, which is a good weight for him. Davie loves people, and chin scritches and belly runs. He will need some manners training, but he really wants to please his people. He has a soft tan and white coat. His tail never stops wagging. Davie was surrendered when his owner had a major change in life circumstances and they could no longer care for him. He is up to date on vaccines, has tested negative for heartworm disease and his adoption fee includes a voucher for the mandatory neuter and microchip.
