Story
My adoption fee is $250 which covers my annual distemper booster, rabies, and being spayed/neutered and microchipped. Meet Jasmine, or as we like to call her, "Jazzy Girl." Jasmine is the epitome of sweetness and loyalty. This lovable girl enjoys nothing more than giving and receiving kisses and hugs—she’s a true cuddle bug at heart. With her calm nature, Jazzy is often content lounging around with her people, but when she gets excited, she can zoom around with a burst of energy that’s sure to put a smile on your face. Jasmine is strong, both in body and spirit, and will thrive best in a home with a strong owner who can provide the guidance and structure she needs.  While she’s calm and affectionate at home, she is also protective of her family, making her an excellent companion for those looking for a loving and devoted dog to stand by their side. She will need a slow and proper introduction to other dogs and would likely thrive with a more submissive, lower energy dog.  No cats. Jazzy is ready to find her forever home, where she can share her boundless love, loyalty, and energy with the right family. If you're looking for a sweet, strong, and protective companion, Jasmine just might be the perfect fit for you!January 18, 2025, 10:20 am

Story
Unika or Uni for short, is a 5 year old pit boxer mix. She is the biggest couch potato but still has some pep in her step. She was adopted by us in Colorado a few years back but we’re not sure of her full adoption history before us. She is dog and cat selective. She does have some anxiety but she truly is the sweetest lovebug. She is an escape artist and it’s really hard for just me to handle her with a baby at home.

Story
Oz aka Tanner - a charming and adorable furry friend in need of a loving FOREVER home to call his own! He originally came into the shelter May 3, 2024 with his brother Knox. He was adopted and returned February 24, 2025 for not getting along with some of the other animals in the home. He is ready for his real FOREVER home. Oz is now current on his vaccinations, house broken, and neutered. If you're looking for a fun and playful pooch with lots of love to give, look no further. Oz aka Tanner is a friendly and affectionate dog who loves nothing more than showing his loyalty to his special persons. He is smart and gentle, and he has a knack for winning over everyone he meets. A well-rounded pup who loves kisses and adventures. He is always up for a game of fetch, a nice walk in the park, or a cozy nap on the couch. He is a true charmer and will steal your heart and bring smiles on your face daily. If you're willing to open your heart and home to this special boy, Oz will be your lifelong companion and best friend. We hope that Oz finds his forever home soon, where he can continue to spread love and joy to his new family. If you have another dog and are interested in meeting another potential new furry member please bring him or her to the shelter and meet on neutral ground before adopting. No need to shuffle the animals around any more than necessary. Please know that 1 mosquito bite can create heart worms and they can be fatal if not treated. It is VERY important to keep your pets healthy and protected by keeping them on a once a month heart worm and flea/tick prevention. These animals are counting on you as their owner to provide them with lots a love and the proper health care so PLEASE make sure you are aware and prepared before adopting. Owning a pet is an extra expense and responsibility but is so worth every minute and penny you invest in them. They will add lots of joy and unconditional love if given a fair chance. The shelter is open Mon.-Fri. 10-1, 2-5, Sat. 10-4. Adopt a homeless pet and save a life. If you can not adopt right now come out and volunteer and make a difference in the lives of these animals while they await their FOREVER home. In order to adopt any of our "bully breeds" there is special paper work that will need to be collected and approved prior to the adoption. We love all of our dogs and want to make sure to place our "bully babies" in homes best suited for them.

Story
Olivia is a friendly and affectionate dog with lots of love to give! This happy and funny girl is a mix of all the best traits: playful and sweet, smart and gentle. Olivia is a good listener and an even better snuggler. She's a 2-year-old pup who is spayed, fully vaccinated, and house-trained. Her previous owner couldn't keep her after a situation so she came into the shelter February 26, 2025, but that just means there's room in your heart and your home for this lovable pup! She may be a little timid at first, but give her time to warm up and you'll see the wonderful dog she is. She loves people and is very treat-motivated - all you have to do is say the word and she'll be your new best friend! Olivia is a love bug with people and we just know you'll fall in love with her at first sight. Stop by for a visit with Olivia today and adopt her into your heart and home. Story
Meet Piper!! Piper is a 5 year old Boxer Mix. Piper came to us when her owner passed away, so as you can imagine being at the shelter is very confusing and stressful for her since she had been in a home since she was a little puppy. Piper lived in a home with Rudolph (cat). She would be great for someone looking for a couch companion. She is housetrained, UTD on her vaccines and Heartworm negative the only thing missing is YOU! If interested in Piper please call 910-259-7022 or to fill out an application please go to penderhumane.org under the animals tab you will see the adoption application form.

Story
I came to CCHS after being found in flood water during Hurricane Florence. I was so skinny and sick, but CCHS nursed me back to health, and now I am strong and handsome! River is our resident superstar. He is a very shy boy but has come a very long way. River would do best in a calm home without small children. He prefers female dogs only. Please visit our website, www.colonialcapitalhs.org to fill out an application today!
