Story
(DOB 5/20/2024) Due to Zuma’s young age, he has not yet been neutered. For this reason, we are only considering local placement (within 1 hour drive time of Wake Forest NC).
First and foremost, Zuma will need a home with at least one PLAYFUL dog. A dog young and patient enough to want to be a fun and gentle playmate for him as well as a good doggie-role model. Puppies naturally learn from other dogs and build confidence, bite inhibition and boundaries from their older doggie siblings.
Zuma has happily adjusted to his new foster family and has a calm confidence at his young age. Though, he is a bit more reserved than his two brothers and is quieter and more observant. As if, he is" reading the room". Zuma is a puppy that is always happy and appreciative of everything you do for him. He enjoys affection like any other puppy would. He is quite the love bug and will snort and snuggle up to you; he is adorable!!
If you have the time and energy for a brand new puppy which includes positive and lots of different adventures and activities to start their young development, ready for adolescent behavior, and want to help cute Zuma to grow into a well-behaved adult dog, then let's chat! Puppies need a lot of time attention, so someone who is at home the majority of the day is neeeded. No 8+ hour work or school days away from home. They need lots of potty breaks to quickly work on proper potty training and lots of interval play time.
He is at the pee, poop, play, eat and sleep routine of life. Plus, it is already a great time to begin basic manners. They are sponges and their little brains are growing rapidly at this age. We encourage LOTS of activities outside of the home. The more places, people and things young Zuma is introduce to early on the better his socialization skills become. Positive reinforcement puppy classes are a great opportunity as well.
Zuma is good with kids and if there are children in his forever family, it is best if they are older. Puppies are teething and are notorious for putting everything in their mouths (just like young children) and their mouths have very sharp baby teeth. Little kids fingers, toes, or other body parts are fair game as Zuma is playing and having a good time. Zuma wouldn't want to accidently hurt a toddler. This is a good reminder to have a variety of toys and different daily activities to keep Zuma's young mind and body active. As we like to say, a well behaved puppy is a tired puppy...once Zuma has had is interval playtimes throughout the day, he will be happy to nap and snuggle.
To that end, his new family should have a least one person home most of the time for several reasons; puppies not only need regular playtimes, they need a solid routine for potty training, and they need socialization. Puppies need to meet, do, see, go to as many new places, things, etc. in their 1st year to build their personalities and overall confidence.
Ready, willing, able; then so is Zuma!!
As part of Zuma’s $325 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. In addition to the adoption fee, a $100 spay/neuter deposit and puppy spay/neuter agreement will also be required. The deposit will be returned once the puppy is altered.
