Story
Our family will be moving cross-country to California next summer for a one-year work-related obligation. We have been brainstorming ways to transport our 9-yr old Pit Mix, Wilbur, with our vet. We’ve cared for Wilbur since we rescued him from the Wake County SPCA in August of 2018. Since then, he has been a beloved member of our household. We do not know what his background is, except that he has a BB pellet scarred into his ear and foreign bodies in his skin that led us to believe he was not in a loving home. We have two toddler boys, ages 1 and 3, and Wilbur is like a brother to them. Unfortunately, he has severe anxiety when traveling, and we are afraid he will not survive the trip either flying or driving cross-country even with anti-anxiety medications on board. His vet is in agreement and recommends keeping him in state.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please be sure to click on Cassi's photo to learn all about her, and the home we are seeking for her placement.Cassi is a very sweet and sensitive girl who is looking for a laid back family to call her own.  She would love another dog in her forever home that is confident and well behaved, to help show her that new things aren't scary.  She does have some anxiety, and is currently taking medications that are making a huge difference for her.  She would do best living in a home with experienced dog owners who are patient with her, and willing to provide a consistent environment for her to thrive.  She would do well with kitties, but they should a dog savvy cat would be best.  Cassi can be vocal, so she would not do well in high density housing.   Cassi needs humans who are not gone for long hours.  All humans in her forever home must be 12 years of age, or older.  She requires a fenced in yard (physical fencing no invisible fences please).  She is up to date on preventative medications, vaccines and has been spayed and micro chipped too. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 3, 2024, 10:18 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please click on Celeste's photo in order to read all about her and the home we are seeking for her placement.Celeste is a total love, she adores her humans and aims to please.  She loves to wrestle with her canine pals, and would adore another dog in the home to play with.  Her favorite activity is to go on walks and hikes, so she definitely requires an active home that will supply regular exercise.  Her second favorite activity is fetch, so sessions of retrieving between exploration sessions is a winning combo for her in life.  But don't worry, one this girl has an outing- she's all about the cuddle sessions too- fair warning- she's a total couch and bed hog...  She lives with cats in her foster home, but does best with a confident cat who will not be timid in her presence.  Only confident, and dog savvy cats would work with Celeste- she requires boundaries where cats are concerned.   Celeste would do best in a home where her humans are not gone for long hours.  She does require a fenced in yard (physical fencing, no invisible fences please).  All humans in the home should be 8 years of age, or older.  She has been spayed and microchipped, and is current on preventatives and vaccines.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 3, 2024, 10:18 am

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All Best Friend Pet Adoption dogs require an approved Best Friend Pet Adoption application. The link to our application is  https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC.  It can also be found on Eno's bio page at bfpa.org.  Who is looking for an older puppy who has good house manners and is housebroken?  Look no further, Eno is your girl!  Eno is very friendly with other people!  She loves everyone she meets.  Eno has been around, 4 yo and a 10 yo children.   She gets very excited but I insist “No jump” and she will sit down.  Eno is housebroken but still needs to go outside on regular potty breaks. She isn't a fan of being crated but I leave her loose in the house for 2-3 hours and there are no accidents.  She isn't destructive and has good house manners. Eno is very friendly with other dogs. She currently lives with a larger dog and two cats.  She would probably do fine with a dog savvy cat.   Eno loves to potty and play in her little fenced in courtyard best but is learning to walk gently on a leash.  Eno’s has a lot of energy though she does sleep through the night and takes a nap every afternoon.  She is a gentle pup and can occupy herself for long periods of time with her toys. She especially loves a deer antler to gnaw on.  Eno’s new home can have a furry friend or she would do well being the center of attention as a solo dog also.   Eno can't wait to see what exciting adventures life has waiting for her once she finds her forever home! She is packing up her toys already and can't wait to meet you. Please consider making Eno a part of your family.  She is a joy!  EVERY DOG HAS A STORY:   Eno's mother (Tiki) was rescued from a shelter and we didn't know she was pregnant. Her foster came home and discovered she had a litter of four sweet girls waiting for her.  What a surprise! Maybe you can open your home for one of these lucky puppies. They love dogs and all people.      Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.  Applicants should live no more than an hour away from Raleigh/Durham. For the perfect home, we may consider applicants who live a bit  further away.  INTERESTED IN ADOPTING ENO? Story
45lbs. She is very smart and picks up on new tricks very quickly. She knows basics like sit, down, stay, bed, shake (her favorite) and is beginning to learn to heel and center. She is very cuddly and eager to please for a treat! She loves food, especially cheese and peanut butter. Lola generally does well with people and dogs, but tends to not do as well with small dogs. She loves attention. Overall, she is a very sweet pupper and just wants to play with balls, be outside, and receive affection. I cannot keep her because I now work long days and don’t have the time/space to play with her as much as she deserves. Adoption fee is just to ensure she goes to a good home.

These pups are in Chapel Hill, North Carolina too!

Story
Ducky is the happiest boy, always eager to make new friends anywhere he goes! This boy has an ambiguous past, having showed up on someones porch as a stray in January 2024. Ducky is on his way to mastering the art of potty training. Currently, he is comfortable in his crate as it is where he sleeps, eats, and spends his unsupervised time. Ducky is a curious, fearless boy who just wants to run and play in the yard, house, and is a cheerful boy on his walks. He walks very well on a leash and is on his way to being quite the Velcro dog. His ideal family would enjoy an active lifestyle and bring him on adventures! His foster family consists of two dogs, two cats, and two adult humans. He loves all of them dearly, although he is still learning to respect the boundaries of the cats. We would recommend Duckys forever home be cat-free. While Ducky does get along with his foster dog siblings and loves other dogs when properly introduced, he would do best in a pet-free home where he can be your one and only! His foster siblings are very submissive, so he could potentially be in a home with one other very submissive, female dog. He has not been tested with children or livestock. Because Ducky can be mouthy, we believe his best home would not have young children. Ducky would likely be fine with older children/teens (10+). Ducky does not have a high prey drive and has low reactivity when it comes to animals and strangers inside and outside of the home. He has a loud bark, so may not be suitable for apartment living. He uses his voice most when asking his foster siblings to play, or when his foster humans are leaving the house. Ducky has an incredibly sweet disposition and his favorite things to do include playing with a flirt pole in the yard, chasing balls, playing tug-o-war with his foster siblings, chewing on Benebones, and going for walks! Oh and eating food! Being a pup who is still learning to control his impulses, Ducky explores the world with his mouth. He can be quite mouthy, though this is a behavior he is learning to control! Ducky is eager to please and very intelligent! He is actively mastering sit, lie down, leave it, drop, and come. He continues to learn commands that help him develop structure and impulse control as well. At the end of the day, Ducky would do best in a home with experienced dog owners who could cultivate a safe, structured environment for him. His ideal family would be able to provide Ducky with consistent, gentle training in a way that best advocates for him, encouraging him to blossom into the best friend he wants to be!
