Story
This adorable 10-month-old girl has been through quite the journey, but her spirit is as strong as ever! Found running down a highway in NY, Bronx's little paws were sore with road rash, and she was missing fur on her legs. She was underweight too, but despite it all, her sweet and happy personality never wavered. Now safe in foster care, this goofy girl is getting the love and care she needs to heal. She’s thriving in a home environment, soaking up affection and playing with her foster siblings (both dogs and cats!). She’s ready for her forever family and is looking for a home where she can continue to be the happy, playful pup she’s meant to be. If you’re ready to give this sweet survivor the love and comfort she deserves, she’s ready to bring endless joy and tail wags into your life! ADOPTION PROCESS: 1. You must begin our adoption process by applying to adopt on clawsadopt.org. Please do NOT inquire via Petfinder, social media messengers or in our comments. We will only be looking at applications! 2. Please make sure you fill out our adoption application COMPLETELY. We may not be able to respond to applications that are not completely filled out with the proper information. Side note: on our applications, the more details you provide = the better. 3. We prefer applicants live within 60 miles of Closter, NJ. (Applicants who live farther away may still apply. However, please note we do prioritize local applications as we try our best to serve our local community first.) 4. Please respect our organization, our volunteers and our process. As a reminder, our organization is a nonprofit. We receive no money from the state. We have no paid employees! This is a polite reminder that we are doing our best to make the right decisions for the animals in our care. Thank you. Story
This beautiful girl is named Noelle. To say that Noelle had a difficult start in life, is an understatement. As incomprehensible as this sounds, Noelle was thrown out of a moving car. A Department of Transportation worker happened to witness this tragedy, and brought her to the police station. Fortunately she was not hurt and Petrescue was notified by the police. Her foster mom says that Noelle is a lovely mix of playful and affectionate, always ready for an adventure, but just as happy to snuggle on the couch after a fun-filled day. She is a sweet girl, friendly with humans and other dogs. Noelle absolutely adores her squeaky toys and will happily entertain herself or invite you to join in on the fun. She is smart and eager to please, showing off her” sit”, “down", and “paw" like a pro…and she is fully potty trained. Beyond her playful side, Noelle is incredibly affectionate. She thrives on human connection and will melt into the couch for belly rubs and snuggles. Whether she’s trotting around with a toy or gazing at you with her expressive face, she’ll steal your heart in no time. Noelle is PERFECT...sweet, playful, easy to train ...just the BEST. This sweet-natured gal is looking for her forever home where she can share her love, playful energy and irresistibly cute head tilts! Be sure to complete an application on line and, come to our Meet & Greet Saturday 11:30-1:30. If you are interested in this dog, please submit an application directly to our website at www.ny-petrescue.org. Only applications submitted directly to Petrescue will be considered.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Hi there! I’m Willa! I’m a sweet and playful 3-4-year-old boxer mix, weighing in at a lovable 60 pounds.  I’m super, super friendly, and I love other dogs, but would probably do best in a home as the only pup. I was patiently waiting at a shelter in Tennessee, but it’s gotten crowded because of all the dogs displaced by Hurricane Helene. I came in a stray, and nobody has come for me, so now I'm thrilled that I was lucky enough to come to NJ and find you! I am currently living with a foster family with older kids and I love them, but its not a forever kind of thing and I'm still on the hunt for my fur-ever. I'm looking for a very patient and low energy home, as I can sometime get anxious (especially when being outside - I'm still learning the ropes!) I recently learned how fun toys and balls can be. And then there's the nightly couch cuddle I can't resist. I do great in the crate when my family is not home and at night. I also know some basic manners like sit, paw and leave it.  If you’re looking to open your heart and home to a new best friend, please consider adopting me. When you bring me home, you’ll also make space for other dogs who are still waiting for help. You can apply at www.peace4paws.org/adoption-application. I can’t wait to meet you! Let’s make room for more friends in need.If you have specific adoption or foster questions, please email: judy.atchison@yahoo.com THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN RESCUING A DOG! Story
Meet Rusty, a lovable 6-year-old Boxer/Pitbull mix who is ready to find his forever home. Weighing in at 68 pounds, Rusty is a gentle giant who has spent the last few years in a loving home in South Carolina. Originally rescued from Kentucky, he’s had a life filled with care and affection but sadly his owner has recently fallen ill and can no longer care for him. While this is heartbreaking, it’s important to note that this is *no fault of Rusty’s own*—he’s simply a dog who is ready to find a new family to share his love with. Rusty is a smart, playful, and beautiful soul who is all about showing affection. His excitement is contagious—he does a full-body wiggle when he's happy, and he always greets you with a smile! He’s a well-mannered boy who will sit patiently while you put on his leash and waits politely for his dinner. Rusty is not destructive, and he doesn’t chew on things that aren’t his—he’s a calm presence in the home, making him a great fit for a more low-key environment. He’s great with other dogs and would thrive in a household with low-traffic teens or adults. Rusty isn’t recommended for a home with younger kids due to his size and strength, but in the right setting, he’ll be the loyal companion you’ve been looking for. Rusty is fully housetrained, up to date on all vaccines, and neutered. He loves car rides and is always up for an adventure, but after a day of fun, he’s happiest when he’s curled up next to his people, enjoying a quiet moment. Rusty is looking for a family that can offer him the love, stability, and comfort he deserves as he enters this new chapter of his life. If you're ready to open your heart to a dog who will bring nothing but love, joy, and loyalty into your home, Rusty is waiting for you. Apply to adopt him today at https://peace4paws.org/adoption-application. Rusty can’t wait to meet you and start this exciting new journey together! If you have specific adoption or foster questions, please email: judy.atchison@yahoo.com THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN RESCUING A DOG! Story
Sage is two years old. She’s what she would call a pocket pity she’s about 32 to 35 pounds. She was surrendered only because the owners couldn’t have a dog any longer. She loves people she likes to sit next to you on a bench and just enjoy your company she likes to be pets, she likes most of the dogs but not every dog she could live with children, but they should be over 12. She’s the cutest little thing in the video. It will say she loves all dogs, but we found the dog she didn’t like after I made the video so I’m updating it , but I would say she was more than not

Story
Peteyhas been at the Shelter for a long time. He originally came in as a stray and it took him a while to settle in. He was very nervous and afraid when he first came in, but once he settled, we found that he was probably the smartest dog at the shelter, everyone loves him however he’s very strong and although he is dog friendly and people friendly, he needs basic manners. He needs to learn things like how to behave in the house how to not pull on the leash things that are easy to learn if he has some training, he could live with kids over 13 and of course he would have to meet another dog to make sure they got along before , he could live with them

Story
Trudi has been here about two weeks. This dog obviously had puppies and then was dumped dumped on a rooftop where Thank goodness a good Samaritan saw her and called the authorities as you can expect. She’s very shy but she’s getting better every day. She’s gained about 8 pounds since she’s been here as she was without food for a few days apparently, she’s a beautiful dog who with the right Owner, who has some patience for her, will be loyal and loved companion
