🐾 Meet Nougat! 🐾Brought to ACC via NYPD after being surrendered to a precinctNougat, a handsome 2-year-old Boxer mix, was dropped off at the 41st Precinct and brought safely to ACC. While we don't know much about his past, we've gotten to know Nougat as a gentle dog working hard to adjust to the shelter environment and open his heart to new people.🏡 My Ideal HomeNougat would do best in a calm, adult home or a household with older teens where he can settle in at his own pace. He'll benefit from a patient, dog-savvy adopter who can give him structure, slow introductions, and the space to gain confidence. He may enjoy quiet walks, a predictable routine, and time to build trust - especially if treats are involved!👶 Good with Kids?Nougat is recommended for a home without children under 5. While he can be affectionate, he has shown some fear-based behaviors and needs gentle, respectful interactions from people who can read his cues.🐕 Good with Other Dogs?Nougat has shown some tension and growling when meeting other dogs at the shelter gate, so a solo-dog home may be the best fit for now. Adopters with another dog will need to do slow introductions under guidance to ensure a good match.🦮 Leash MannersNougat walks well on a leash overall, though he may pull to sniff or explore new scents. He checks in with his handler regularly and has shown responsiveness to commands like "sit" and "wait." With continued positive reinforcement, he'll be a lovely walking companion.🩺 Overall HealthNougat is neutered and up to date on all vaccinations, flea/tick prevention, and has been microchipped. He was recently treated for kennel cough (CIRDC) and has responded well to antibiotics. He's also on medication to help ease his anxiety in the shelter setting.📊 Behavior Determination: Level 2Nougat is gentle but needs time to decompress and feel safe in new surroundings. He may be fearful or aloof at first, but given the chance to come around on his own terms, he becomes affectionate and enjoys pets and praise. Force-free, reward-based training is highly recommended.🎉 One Fun FactNougat has a signature "slow tail wag" that he saves for moments of connection - it's his quiet way of saying, "I think I like you."💸 Adoption Fee: $75Includes neuter surgery, vaccinations, and microchip.Nougat is ready to leave the stress of shelter life behind and start fresh in a safe, loving home. Could it be with you? Visit him today at Manhattan ACC! Primary Color: Tan Secondary Color: Brown Weight: 61 Age: 2yrs 0mths 4wks

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Spanky (SC) is a male Boxer mix rescued in South Carolina. Our veterinary partner estimates that Spanky is 8 years old at the time of intake in April 2022.  Spanky's life was on hold while he languished in a kill shelter with a large tumor on his back.  As soon as we found out about Spanky, we pulled him out and sent him to our veterinary partner where the tumor was removed.  He is doing great now with his foster and is ready for a forever home! Spanky is good with people and other dogs.  He is very sweet, loving, and alert.  He loves peanut butter, toys, and spending time in the sun.  He takes a toy to bed with him each night.  He also enjoys running around the yard.  This boy is super sweet and friendly, and his tail never stops wagging!  He deserves to live the rest of his life in a happy, loving home. If you have room in your heart for Spanky, please apply online to adopt Spanky (SC) at www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org.   RDR's adoption fees include the cost of spay/neuter/microchip at an RDR-approved facility, whether completed before adoption or if deferred because the pet is too young or has a medical issue.  All pets are also current on age-appropriate vaccines at the time of adoption. Given technical constraints on this database, this pet's location may not be as listed here. We can, however, provide transport support for pets in foster at a considerable distance from the adopter.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 9, 2024, 12:53 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hatcher (GA) is a male Boxer mix estimated to be 4 months old at the time of intake in July 2024. Hatcher is up to date on core vaccines (age-appropriate) and is microchipped. Hatcher will be neutered prior to joining his forever home unless there is a medical reason why it has not yet been completed (in which case RDR NYC will work with the adopter to ensure this is done at the appropriate time). Hatcher is good with people and other dogs. We found Hatcher in a shelter suffering immensely with an open, raw wound from a burn down the length of his back. We immediately pulled Hatcher out and got him to our veterinary partner for wound treatment and pain relief.  Despite his horrific condition, Hatcher was tail-waggingly happy! Hatcher's wound is almost healed, and he's ready for his forever home. If you are Hatcher's forever person, please apply online to adopt Hatcher (GA) at www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org. His adoption fee is $575.  Given technical constraints on this database, this pet's location may not be as listed here. Our veterinary partner estimates that Sable is 3 years old at the time of intake in March 2022.  Sable is good with people, kids and other dogs.  This beautiful girl was picked up as a stray, and it's obvious that life has not been kind to Sable.  She suffered from entropion, a painful eye condition, in both eyes which has been surgically repaired.  Sable is very sweet, is housetrained, sleeps through the night, is great on a leash and ignores critters as she walks. She is great with smaller children and loves to give kisses to everyone--big or small. Sable has shown no sign of food aggression at her foster home. If you can find a place in your heart for Sable, please apply online to adopt Sable (SC) at www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org.    RDR's adoption fees include the cost of spay/neuter/microchip at an RDR-approved facility, whether completed before adoption or if deferred because the pet is too young or has a medical issue.  All pets are also current on age-appropriate vaccines at the time of adoption Given technical constraints on this database, this pet's location may not be as listed here.
