Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Max is just over one year old and knows his basics, he's just coming out of his puppy era.  He is very eager to please and just needs a little further guidance and consistency to make him the perfect dog! Max is hilarious and the easiest dog his foster has ever fostered.  Wants to play with everyone and will try to initiate, but is respectful of boundaries once they are set.  Loves to play and run and has the energy and plenty of endurance. Would be an excellent companion for someone with an active/outdoorsy lifestyle.  Mindful in the house and happy to entertain himself with a toy.   Loves to snuggle and will do so with every inch and pound of himself if allowed to.  He is such a love and very good time.  Very friendly and trustworthy dog.  Crate and house trained, but also makes an excellent bed warmer.  Curious with cats and wants to play, will chase, but recalls easily and with further conditioning we imagine that will subside.  Has not displayed any aggression, just a curious goofball!!  Max gets along great with other dogs and would probably love a canine sibling to run and play with.  But also would be well suited to be your one and only super spoiled best friend.    Is Max the boy you’ve been looking for ? Put in an application for this handsome boy! Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. &#226&#150&#186 We do not adopt to Canada  due to border restrictions and breed-specific legislation &#226&#150&#186 We adopt & foster locally only ; within an approximately 55 mile radius of Lockport, NY 14094 USA Adoption donation includes Spay/Neuter, Vaccinations, deworming & flea treatment. I love to play with my toys but my favorite is the ball!  I really love when my foster mom’s grandson comes to play!  My foster mom says I am very smart and am doing so good going potty outside. I like to go for walks too and am doing well on the leash. I don’t mind my crate at all and I know to go into it to get a treat! I am told that I am 25 pounds of pure sweetness! Story
Bubbles is a beautiful spayed female Boxer Mix She just graduated for our Path To Home Program which involves obedience training for 8 weeks. Bubbles is housebroken, crate trained and good with other dogs but no cats please. She LOVES to play ball and would probably do it all day if she could. Bubbles is a very affectionate dog with a sweet personality. She is  currently at the Shelter. Volunteers For Animals and Orleans Correctional Facility have developed a Dog Training & Fostering Program within the prison that will provide socialization and basic obedience training for the dogs before being adopted. Volunteers For Animals will be pulling dogs from high kill shelters and locally who may be in need of behavioral support to become more adoptable. The dogs will then be transported to Orleans Correctional Facility where they will live with selected inmates who will care for them 24 hours per day for approximately 8 weeks. Each dog will have a crate, bedding, leash, collar, training treats, and food provided by Volunteers For Animals. A certified dog trainer will provide weekly training classes for the dogs and the inmates. The inmates will then work daily to reinforce the formal training with the dogs. Adoption Procedures The adoption process includes an application that is completed by the potential owner. If there are multiple applications on the same animal, the animal will go to the best home for that particular animal - not necessarily the first application. Fees for the Path Home animals are $200 per animal which needs to be cash or a check - NO CREDIT CARDS. All of the dogs are current on vaccines, heart worm tested and spayed/neutered. If you would like to be considered for any of the Path to Home dogs, please email us. Please do not call the Shelter regarding Path Home animals - they do not have any information. Email us at info@vol4animals.org regarding this program.  Here is the adoption process:   To adopt an animal you must complete an application and be approved. There is a $60 fee for any animal which needs to be cash or a check - NO CREDIT CARDS. If the animal is not spayed or neutered, there is a $35 deposit which will be returned upon proof of surgery. All dogs must be licensed before leaving the Shelter. Please note that public offices that issue dog licenses are not open on Saturdays and Sundays. All cats must leave in a carrier.   Thank you for considering a homeless animal.March 2, 2025, 3:08 pm

Story
She has just turned 4yrs old, i took her in last july as her owner was leaving the state. She is a good girl but is very anxious and needs someone with a fenced in yard or garden as she likes to roam at times even with wifi fence collar on. I'm rehoming as i didn't realize at the time how much extra energy i would need for such a young dog, as i already have a dosile 12 yr old boxer/beadle mix, who is happy sleeping...lol I myself, have health issues, so cannot get out with her as much as she needs and i do not have a fenced in garden and cannot afford to put one in.. Im doing this for her sake more than mine, as she deserves all the freedom and time someone can give her. She is currently living with 6 cats ands one other dog, and they all get along jjst fine, i have not seen her with children, but as she is anxious she tends to bark a lot at people going past the house or a delivery van pulled up..

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Say hello to beautiful Maggie (Meg)!!   Maggie is full of personality and full of energy! She will thrive with a family who can keep her busy and continue with her training as she settles into her new home. She does enjoy being with her people and would probably prefer a home where she is not left alone for extensive periods of time.   Maggie falls in love with everyone she meets! She wants to be the center of attention and is very respectful for people. She is a bit on the sensitive side, but I can promise you she will pour her entire heart into whatever she is doing. Maggie is quick, athletic, with springs in her feet and she picks up on skills quickly! She would probably do well in an agility class or as a running partner.   Maggie would do well with kids over the age of 12 due to her size and strength. She would do best as an only dog, or with a calmer, more mature housemate who can let her know when it’s time to stop playing. Maggie has met lots of dogs and does enjoy playing one on one. But she would not be a good confidante for a daycare or dog park setting. Her favorite way to play? Watch how fast I run!!!   Maggie has a high prey drive, so she's not good with cats or other small animals. She is crate trained, potty trained and working on her manners with her foster mom!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Bruno!! This sweet boy has had a tough past but he is ever so resilient! He LOVES people but no kitties, please! He has had a tough time recently so currently he needs to be your one and only pet. Bruno knows hand commands for sit, down, and place. He is so smart! He is housebroken BUT he does not handle change well so please expect some accidents during the first week or so in his new home. Once he settles in, when he wants or needs to go out, he will bark OR he nibbles on your knees and elbows. Yes, this sounds strange but he is trying to "talk" to you!  Bruno loves to lay on the floor or couch and have his belly and neck scratched. He loves to chew on toys, and play with treat filled toys. He loves watching out the windows and observing what's going on in his neighborhood. Bruno would love best to live in a quiet home, he loves a country setting!  Any family would be lucky to have him. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet handsome Buddy who is looking for a foster or furever home.   Here's the lowdown on him - Buddy's owner had him for two years. We were told she took him in after she found him abandoned and emaciated. Sadly, this owner kept him living outside; on a chain or in a pen that he frequently escaped. After one such escape, he came home with his leg injured. He was brought to the vet and they said his leg was fine how it was! We don't know the full circumstances, but when a volunteer went check on Buddy after he had then been attacked by another dog, she knew he needed help immediately. He was taken to the ER where it was determined Buddy would have to have his leg amputated. We made him a Diamond and he has been living as a tripod for about a year now!   Buddy is a very sweet, affectionate boy, but because of his past and extreme prey drive, he would do best as an only pet. He gets around just fine as a tripod and loves to explore and sniff everything! Buddy would also do best in a dog experience home with low traffic. Buddy LOVES going on adventures at all the local parks!  He enjoys meeting people and afterwards will chill with a chew bone and take a nap.   Please apply today to meet Buddy!
