Story
Neptune came in to the rescue with his brother Stanley.  Both were extremely under weight and had little to no socialization.  Neptune was inhaling his food, but the foster has slowed him down and this will get better as he realizes he can rely of food being there for him.  Neptune is very cuddly and likes to be with his people.  He is working on potty training.  He plays with toys and is good on leash.  Neptunes continues learning puppy manners and does great with sit, very treat motivated.  He sleeps at night in his crate.  He does whine a little when being left alone in the crate but settles down after 20 minutes or so.  Neptune's adoption fee is $450 which goes toward neutering at our vet, vaccines and medical care up to adopton, and microchip.  He is located in the Syracuse area and available for meets.  ##2156664##

Story
Handsome Turner ***Turner unfortunately tested positive for heartworm and is presently going through treatment. He is available for someone who is able to follow protocol during his treatment and is able to get him to his vet appointments. Turner is a happy, extroverted, play and cuddly guy. He has not met a person he doesn't like. Best suited for a highly active home with no cats. Older children would be best due to his energy level. Turner is just an all around great guy. If interested, please submit an application. All current pets MUST be up to date on vaccines and spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason. www.pawzandpurrz.org RR335 Please Note: We are making changes to our Foster to Adopt process. Limited resources to follow up on pending adoptions and delays in processing payments is adding to our financial restrictions. Going forward we will collect payment when the dog is transferred to the potential new owner and will be held for an agreed upon trial time. Exceptions or extended trial times will be considered on a case by case basis and will depend upon the need or situation.

Story
Scooby is our longest resident, and that’s because he is really not meant to be a shelter dog but has a hard time convincing potential adopters of that. He is a sensitive dog who gets concerned about stressful things in his environment. He has come such a long way with his anxiety and nerves with us in the shelter but what he requires is stability and consistency. He was in a temporary foster for two weeks and during that time he showed so much growth as he finally had a chance to settle in as a house pet. After some decompression, we found he wasn’t destructive, played with toys and puzzles, snuggled up on the couch, and even had some nice car rides (with only a little whining). Even in the shelter he is a gentle, friendly boy who follows commands, waits patiently for volunteers to leash him in his kennel, and is easy to walk. Although sometimes he does get spooked and wants to go back inside. What Scooby needs is someone with patience and a willingness to build trust with him once they bring him home and who can work constructively with him on his anxiety needs. We have a trainer who will help the new adopter transition Scooby into his new home. Everyone who knows Scooby, loves him!

Story
Hello! They call me Queen, but I`m really not as bossy as my name indicates. I`m an adorable 4 year old pittie type, weighing in around 55 pounds. Yes, I’ve been at the shelter before. Someone adopted me, but they ended up having a heart condition and couldn’t take care of me anymore. Bummer! I learned a lot in that home though, so I’m hopeful it will help find me a new home soon! I`m a goofy, quirky gal who will make you laugh for sure! For the most part, I am equally happy to go for walks, play and sniff outside, or snuggle up to you! If you like to play, I`ll grab a toy and make silly noises while I show it to you by shoving it all over your body. If you`re not into games, that`s ok too, I`m usually pretty happy just sniffing around or sitting next to you in the sun. Some people say I`m kind of clumsy and giggle when I trip over things because I`m so focused on sniffing or chasing my toy. I don`t really get what is so funny but, whatever, I`m happy if you`re happy! Other dogs and children can make me feel nervous and I don`t really want them near me. I`d prefer a dog-less home with adults or older kids only where I can reign supreme! I also once tried living in home with a cat and it was really fun to chase, but the human and cat didn`t appreciate that, so I’m thinking maybe I shouldn’t live with a cat either. I`m perfectly happy being buds with only my trusted humans. It just means I get to have all your laps and attention to myself! Yay! Honestly, I`m a pretty chill dog once you get to know me. I`m thinking that if I can get a little consistency in my life, I`ll be quite the happy family member! I`m super smart and food motivated, so I can learn a lot if you`re willing to teach me! If you`ve always dreamed of rescuing a dog and you`re willing to learn alongside me, head to the shelter during open hours for the chance to meet me! You can also call or email ahead, if you`d like to learn more about me before you come. (607)257-1822 x221 adoptions@spcaonline.com (adoptions category: Purple)

Story
Hello! I’m Xena (49 pounds). Let’s go for a walk and get to know each other; I can show you all the best spots to sniff and tastiest bits of grass/snow/dirt to snack on. I was adopted from the SPCA as a puppy, but my humans had some complicated life problems crop up and they couldn`t care for me anymore. It was pretty scary to come back to the shelter, since I liked my quiet life with my humans, but I’m making a bunch of new friends now. I’m used to being home alone for the workday and hanging out in my crate. Cuddling my friends, playing fetch or tug of war, and getting a full-body scratch are some of my favorite things. If you gain my trust, I`ll want to be by your side always! I’m also a big fan of running laps in the yard, so I’d be delighted if my new home has a fenced yard. If you want to meet me, stop by the shelter during walk in hours 12-4:30 Tuesday-Sunday (extended hours 12-6:30 on Thursdays). (Adoption Category: Purple)

Story
Meet Quinn, a super friendly gal waiting for her fur-ever home. At 75 pounds, Quinn`s body is struggling a bit. She is hoping someone can (gently) help her get down to a healthier weight. Of course, she`s cute the way she is, but her joints and organs would feel better if she could slim down. Her weight doesn`t seem to really slow her down much, so regular exercise and controlled feeding should do the trick! She`s friendly with people of all kinds and has lived with another dog in the past. Quinn finds cats very exciting and is reported to have chased them relentlessly in the past. Other than her round shape, Quinn is healthy and ready to find her new family! If you`d like to meet this wiggly wonder, stop by the shelter during open hours and ask to meet her! We think she would make a great addition to almost any home! Tuesday-Sunday 12-4:30 (Thursdays 12-6:30)(607)257-1822 x221 adoptions@spcaonline.com
