Story
Handsome Turner ***Turner unfortunately tested positive for heartworm and is presently going through treatment. He is available for someone who is able to follow protocol during his treatment and is able to get him to his vet appointments. Turner is a happy, extroverted, play and cuddly guy. He has not met a person he doesn't like. Best suited for a highly active home with no cats. Older children would be best due to his energy level. Turner is just an all around great guy. If interested, please submit an application. All current pets MUST be up to date on vaccines and spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason. www.pawzandpurrz.org RR335 Please Note: We are making changes to our Foster to Adopt process. Limited resources to follow up on pending adoptions and delays in processing payments is adding to our financial restrictions. Going forward we will collect payment when the dog is transferred to the potential new owner and will be held for an agreed upon trial time. Exceptions or extended trial times will be considered on a case by case basis and will depend upon the need or situation.

Story
Scooby is our longest resident, and that’s because he is really not meant to be a shelter dog but has a hard time convincing potential adopters of that. He is a sensitive dog who gets concerned about stressful things in his environment. He has come such a long way with his anxiety and nerves with us in the shelter but what he requires is stability and consistency. He was in a temporary foster for two weeks and during that time he showed so much growth as he finally had a chance to settle in as a house pet. After some decompression, we found he wasn’t destructive, played with toys and puzzles, snuggled up on the couch, and even had some nice car rides (with only a little whining). Even in the shelter he is a gentle, friendly boy who follows commands, waits patiently for volunteers to leash him in his kennel, and is easy to walk. Although sometimes he does get spooked and wants to go back inside. What Scooby needs is someone with patience and a willingness to build trust with him once they bring him home and who can work constructively with him on his anxiety needs. We have a trainer who will help the new adopter transition Scooby into his new home. Everyone who knows Scooby, loves him!

Story
Hey! I`m Queen (55lbs), an adorable 4 year old girlie with a big smile! I was adopted, but they ended up having a heart condition and couldn’t take care of me anymore. I learned a lot in that home though, so I’m hopeful it will help find me a new home soon! I`m a goofy, quirky gal who will make you laugh for sure! For the most part, I am equally happy to go for walks, play and sniff outside, or snuggle up to you! If you like to play, I`ll grab a toy and make silly noises while I show it to you by shoving it all over your body. If you`re not into games, that`s ok too, I`m usually pretty happy just sniffing around or sitting next to you in the sun. Some people say I`m kind of clumsy and giggle when I trip over things because I`m so focused on sniffing or chasing my toy. Other dogs and children can make me feel nervous and I don`t really want them near me. I`d prefer a home without dogs, cats and young children-somewhere I can reign supreme! Once I get to know and trust you, we`ll be best buds for life. I`m a pretty chill dog once you get to know me. If I can get a little consistency in my life, I`ll be quite the happy family member! I`m super smart and food motivated, so I can learn a lot if you`re willing to teach me! If you`ve always dreamed of rescuing a dog and you`re willing to learn alongside me, head to the shelter during open hours to meet me! Story
Hello! I`m Buddy Jr. and people say I`m very attractive (I tend to agree). I weigh about 53 pounds and have a super goofy side! I came here because my human had some health issues that prevented them from caring for me. I`m really good at sitting when you ask (usually) and take treats pretty gently at first. I try to be polite. However, once you decide to get down to my level (such as squatting or sitting) then my rowdy puppy stuff comes out! I`ll want to put my paws and mouth all over you! It`s fun for me, and some folks like it, but small kids would probably have a hard time (i don`t know my strength). Oops! I`m still learning, so hopefully some committed person can help me along my way. If you have another dog, or small kids, you`ll definitely want to set up a meet with our shelter staff before deciding if I`m the right guy for you! Story
Meet Wally (58 lbs)! This adorable pup came to us as a stray from downtown Ithaca, so we`re still learning about his personality. He`s shown a real knack for `sit` on command - for a treat, of course. He`s very eager to get out and explore, which can also translate to a lot of hurry at the door! Since we don’t know his history, we`re unsure how he`ll do in a home with cats or kids. If you already have a dog, our adoptions team can set up a meet-and-greet to see how they get along. Want to meet him? Visit our adoption center Tuesday–Sunday: 12:00–4:30 PM (Thursday: 12:00–6:30 PM)You can also reach our adoptions team:by email: adoptions@spcaonline.comby phone (during open hours): 607-257-1822 x221(Adoption Category: Lilac)
