Hi there! I’m Yogurt! I’m a sweet and playful 3-4-year-old boxer mix, weighing in at a lovable 60 pounds. I’m super, super friendly, and I love other dogs, but would probably do best in a home as the only pup. I was patiently waiting at a shelter in Tennessee, but it’s gotten crowded because of all the dogs displaced by Hurricane Helene. I came in a stray, and nobody has come for me, so now I'm thrilled that I was lucky enough to come to NJ and find you! I am currently living with a foster family with older kids and I love them, but its not a forever kind of thing and I'm still on the hunt for my fur-ever. I'm looking for a very patient and low energy home, as I can sometime get anxious (especially when being outside - I'm still learning the ropes!) I recently learned how fun toys and balls can be. And then there's the nightly couch cuddle I can't resist. I do great in the crate when my family is not home and at night. I also know some basic manners like sit, paw and leave it. While this is heartbreaking, it’s important to note that this is *no fault of Rusty’s own*—he’s simply a dog who is ready to find a new family to share his love with. Rusty is a smart, playful, and beautiful soul who is all about showing affection. His excitement is contagious—he does a full-body wiggle when he's happy, and he always greets you with a smile! He’s a well-mannered boy who will sit patiently while you put on his leash and waits politely for his dinner. Rusty is not destructive, and he doesn’t chew on things that aren’t his—he’s a calm presence in the home, making him a great fit for a more low-key environment. He’s great with other dogs and would thrive in a household with low-traffic teens or adults. Rusty isn’t recommended for a home with younger kids due to his size and strength, but in the right setting, he’ll be the loyal companion you’ve been looking for. While no one has come forward to claim him, Herbie is now looking for his forever family! He’s also learning to curb his excitement when greeting people! He’s great with other dogs and, after playtime, is happy to sit quietly by your side.
