DOB: 8/1/24                                  Current Weight(as of  01/06/24):  40 Lbs Adoption Fee: $200 includes 1 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness. FULLY VACCINATED! HAVE RECEIVED ALL PUPPY VACCINES + RABIES! Herschel and his siblings were dumped in a park in Nevada, MO.  The shelter did find the owners and were told  they were not able to care for them, so they dumped them.  They are 51% Boxer, 30% Heeler, 15% Australian Shepherd and 4% Border Collie. These pups will need an active home with a fenced yard.  His foster parents found he loves watching TV, and has such a cute faces as he is watching. They have been calling him Buddy because he wants to be by his people or his foster sisters at all times. Very energetic, loves toys, and cuddles. He is very respectful of his older foster sisters, and does take corrections quite well. Herschel is working on housetraining, but still needs some time and patience. He would do well in a home with other dogs, and would be perfectly fine with kids. While he is a bit timid at first, he warms up quickly and just wants to be loved. Puppies are NOT housebroken and should not be expected to wait more than 1 hour for each month of age to go out to potty. Please make sure that you have a “potty plan” in place if considering adoption. All of our puppies have been spay/neuter, wormed, microchipped, and given age appropriate vaccinations. If you are interested in meeting/adopting one of them just fill out a application at www.furrykidsrefuge.org, click on the 'Adopt A Dog' icon and a dedicated volunteer will be in touch.  Furry Kids' Refuge is in need of good quality dog and puppy food with meat as the first ingredient.  You can drop off donations at our weekly adoption events at the Lee's Summit Petco (1860 NW Chipman Road, Lee's Summit, MO), Saturdays only from 11am to 2:00 p.m.  Donations are tax deductible as allowed by law.  Would you like to foster a Furry Kid? Furry Kids' Refuge will supply the food & vet care while you supply the basic house rules & love.......win-win for all!!  Just visit our website http://www.furrykidsrefuge.org/category/fostering/  for more information. Thanks for your support! Baxter is a courtesy listing for an individual or group seeking a new home for Baxter. Baxter is not part of the PAWS program.   We show our dogs by appointment only upon receipt of an online application which can be found at kcpaws.petfinder.com  Adoption fee for Baxter is $150 (sponsored).  If you are interested in Baxter, please complete the online application. link to application: https://form.jotform.com/230296113596155 Baxter is an adorable Pit/Boxer mix, perhaps Lab/Pit mix.  Baxter is about 8 years old and is a big ol goofy boy who loves to play with his stuffy toys. He is a happy go lucky sort of boy, but can be protective of his people.  Baxter is fine with some dogs and not with others so we would prefer he goes to a home with no other dogs.  When he does play with other dogs he has a rough and rowdy play style that cam be overwhelming to some dogs. The ideal home for Baxter would be a quiet house without a lot of in and out traffic of non family members coming and going, a nice couch or dog bed for him to lounge on, a toy box full of stuffy toys and a privacy fenced back yard.  He is not a dog that requires a lot of exercise so playing in the house with his toys or in the backyard should be fine for him. Story
Mack is a courtesy listing for a partner rescue organization! Please visit TARA's website at https://tarasdream.org/adopt to fill out an adoption application for this pet and for more info about the adoption process.Hi I'm Mack and I'm looking for a forever home! My friends call me Mackaroni-And-Cheese cause I'm such a cheese ball! I'm a big ole goof with lots of energy and I love to play! I am also very affectionate and adore belly rubs! While I get along with most dogs, I do like to chase small animals, so no cat, rabbit, or chicken friends for me! I can also be protective of my people on walks so I would prefer a home with a fenced yard for my outside activities! If I sound like a good match for you, apply to meet me!Approximate Birthdate: October 2019Adoption Fee: $200TARA's adoption fee includes: spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, heartworm test (if age appropriate), heartworm and flea prevention, and deworming. TARA's pets are all eligible for a TWO WEEK TRIAL.October 28, 2024, 6:52 pm

Story
Meet Stormy, a 5-year-old sweetheart who’s as smart as she is loving! This wonderful girl is reported to be completely housetrained and knows her basic commands like sit, down, and stay. Stormy has a playful side—she adores toys and is always up for a fun game of tug-of-war. When it’s time to unwind, Stormy transforms into a total lovebug, ready to cuddle up and soak in all the affection. She has lived with dogs in the past. Because of her gentle but spirited personality, Stormy would need to meet any children in the home, and she may thrive best with older kids who can join her in her playful adventures. Stormy can’t wait to find her forever family and start a lifetime of love, cuddles, and fun.Stormy has been a little overwhelmed during playgroups at the shelter so she has been hanging out with other gentle and mellow pups to help her gain confidence. She would love to meet any potential canine siblings! Our staff will carefully handle all dog-to-dog introductions at the shelter to ensure a great match. Feel free to bring your pup along when you come to meet Stormy—we’ll make sure it’s a safe and positive experience for everyone! Stormy was able to spend the day away from the shelter recently and here is what they had to say, `Stormy was a perfect angel! She never barked, whined, growled… just a sweet girl with earnest eyes! We went on a short 1 mile jog that she loved, then we took a quick drive where she got a plain cheeseburger. She took the burger and all her subsequent treats from my hand so very gently, such a dainty girl! She got in and out of the car like a complete champ, no issues at all. And when our day was winding down we stopped back at my place where we had a brief couch potato cuddle session. Stormy is a gem - perfect in the car, on walks, at home… what a sweet dog!`Stormy is spayed, microchipped, up to date on her vaccinations, and ready for her forever home! Her ADOPTION FEE IS WAIVED! We want all our dogs to have homes as quickly as possible. In an effort to help dogs with longer stays, those who are deteriorating in the shelter environment, or who are harder to place find homes more quickly, the adoption fee for this dog has been waived.

Story
Hippo was found as a stray in the Missouri bootheel. No one claimed him, but he built up a fan club at the pound who campaigned to get him into rescue! Hippo is great with other dogs and older kids. He is potty, kennel, and leash trained. He is unfortunately heartworm positive but is starting treatment. He’s otherwise healthy, so his prognosis for a long happy life is great! He loves toys and playing tug with other dogs. He’s overall low energy and would be happy to snuggle with you! Adopt a House Hippo today!
