Story
Lisa and her 3 siblings were found on the side of HWY 133. After almost being hit by a car, a good samaritan stopped and got them and brought them to Loving Paws. Lisa is a beautiful brindle girl who is curious, smart, and attentive. She is learning to come when called and has been introduced to livestock, barnyard birds, and other dogs. Lisa loves being held and getting attention from her human(s). Her adoption fee is $175 which helps to cover her vetting. She is spayed, up to date on her vaccines, microchipped, dewormed and on flea/tick prevention.

Story
This adorable boy showed up at my house after being dumped on our gravel road. I am fostering him until he finds his forever home. He gets along great with my 4 dogs and 4 cats as well as our neighbor's dogs. He loves to play but also loves to cuddle. He has become best friends with out 2 year old Golden Retriever and runs to the river with her every morning for a swim. He is crate trained and sleeps in his crate every night. He also uses our doggy door to go outside to potty. His adoption fee is $200 which helps to cover the cost of his spay, vaccines, microchip with lifetime registration, heartworm test, heartworm and flea/tick prevention and dewormer.

Story
Meet Ray! This charming 6-year-old boxer mix is still on the lookout for his forever home. Ray arrived at the shelter in January 2019 as a stray, found on the side of the highway in Gravois Mills. While we don't know much about his early life, what we do know is that Ray is a spirited and energetic boy who thrives on companionship and playtime.Ray is a live wire with a heart full of joy! He loves to engage with his humans and is always ready for a game of fetch, especially with his beloved tennis balls. He's mastered the art of chasing but sometimes needs a little encouragement to drop the ball-just throw another one, and he'll happily swap! His silly antics are sure to bring laughter to anyone in the room.Having graduated from Missouri Puppies for Parole at the Jefferson City Correctional Center, Ray showcased his eagerness to learn and grow. He's got his basic commands down and is well on his way to being a fantastic companion. However, Ray is still learning to trust people fully. He has formed strong bonds with his handler and close friends but can be a bit wary of fast movements or sudden gestures. His crossed eyes may cause some blind spots, so he's looking for a patient and understanding home that can respect his need for space as he adjusts.Ray enjoys playgroups with other dogs and does well with his furry friends, but he can be protective of his toys and crate. Because of this, he would thrive best as an only dog or in a home with experienced dog owners who can help manage his protective tendencies. This special guy flourishes with structure and consistent training, and he responds well to positive reinforcement. After spending so much time without a permanent home, Ray is ready to find his place in the world. If you're looking for a loyal and loving companion who will brighten your days, Ray may just be the perfect match for you! Could you be the one he's been waiting for? Ray's adoption fee has been sponsored by a generous donor.UPDATE: RAY IS CURRENTLY BACK AT JEFF CITY CORRECTIONAL CENTER IN THE PUPPIES FOR PAROLE PROGRAM AGAIN. HIS PREVIOUS HANDLER WAS INTERESTED IN GETTING HIM BACK TO GIVE HIM A BREAK FROM SHELTER LIFE AND TO BRUSH UP ON WHAT HE HAD LEARNED BEFORE.HE IS STILL AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION AND IF YOU ARE INTERESTED, YOU CAN DO AN APPLICATION ONLINE AT daslakeoftheozarks.com Primary Color: Brown Weight: 56 Age: 6yrs 0mths 4wks

Story
Hello, I'm Sissie. I've been passed around a bit and unfortunetly this isn't my first time here at PCHS. I was adopted when I was a young pup but somehow ended up on the streets with no place to call home. I'm shy to new people but warm up with some treats. Once we're friends, I'm the sweetest girl. Can you be my patient friend? If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##659584##
