Story
Hi! My name’s Houston. I'm a four-year-old boxer mix boy and kind of a beefcake at around 80 pounds. (I'd argue that it's all muscle, too.) One of the things I want most in a forever home is a human friend to hang out with, not doing anything in particular, just a couple pals spending time together. Wouldn't that be amazing? I'm a little shy at first, but if you'll give me a few minutes to get to know you, we'll be besties. And I promise to be your snuggle pup! Really, though, I’m way too smart to laze around 24/7. I know sit, down, stay, high five, orbit, between, and wait. Learning tricks is one of my favorite activities and I can pick up new ones in just a day or two. I love to run outside and play in water from the hose. In case I wasn't clear enough on that, I LOVE PLAYING IN THE WATER!!!. My favorite game of all is tug of war. (I'll even let you win sometimes!) I’m kennel trained, house trained, and am good at being left alone. In fact, I do some of my best snoozing in my crate while I wait patiently for you to come home. I’d do best in a home with older children because I’m still learning how to contain all my excitement around the little ones. Since I've been looking for a home for a while, I think I'd prefer to be the only doggo so I don't have to share. I’ve got so much love to share and I absolutely cannot wait to meet you! You'll get to see my cute little nub of a tail wag and wag when I'm happy and that will make YOU happy, too! Call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387 to find out more about me! I'm in the Kansas City metro, but my human friends will transport me to the right home. #thepetconnection #BoxerMix #AdoptDontShop #RescueDog #DogsofKC #SmartPup #PlayfulPup #ForeverHomeNeeded #KCAdopt #DogLovers #pawsitivetailskc

Story
Hi there, I’m Fletch! I’m such a good boy. When you see me wiggle my butt in pure joy at the mere sight of you, you’ll know we were meant to be together. I’m smart and playful and goofy and so affectionate. I’m the perfect combination of energetic and fun mixed with cuddly and chill. And there is simply no place on earth I’d rather be than right by your side. My life hasn’t always been easy, but that just makes me more grateful for everything good that comes my way. I will make the best companion for you, if you just give me a chance. I am handsome, strong, and athletic, with beautiful brindle fur, the cutest floppy ears, and a charming, delightful personality. I’m even already fully housebroken and crate trained too. I’ve been through lots of instability and change in my life lately. I was feeling stressed and nervous at the big shelter where I was staying, before getting rescued by the kind people at The Pet Connection. They understood my insecurities and quickly found a loving foster home for me. My foster family makes me feel safe and cared for and so special. Ah, I can finally relax. Now all I need is for you to find me and welcome me into your family! Living in my foster home has been fantastic! I quickly and happily settled in with my new routine. I stay in my crate at night and when no one is home, and I do really well there, after a little initial crying. I’m very well behaved in the house, and I try my best not to cause any trouble at all. I’m highly trainable and I pick up on new things quickly, so please teach me. I’m currently working on controlling my excitement level when I play. It will help me if you stay calm and easygoing with me, instead of engaging me in rough play. I’m eager to make you happy, and I’m ready to learn and experience everything life has to offer. Once I know I’m home, you’ll find me to be a mostly quiet, affectionate friend who loves to curl up next to you on the couch for plenty of kisses and snuggles, or to keep myself entertained with my toys. I like everyone I meet, but sometimes I can be jumpy, so I’ll probably be happiest in a home without small kids. I wouldn’t want to accidentally knock anyone over. I’m an active fella, and I will need daily exercise to help me stay happy, healthy, and calm. I absolutely love going for walks and I do quite well on my leash. I keep my distance from other dogs on their walks, and that works just great for me. I’d love a fenced yard to run and play in! I really enjoy being outside, but I’ve been known to jump high and chase things, so I am a flight risk. Please keep a close eye on me whenever I’m outside, and make sure my fenced area is safe and secure. I’ll be happiest as your only dog. I want all your love and attention for myself! Still, I might do OK with other chill, tolerant dogs, given a proper introduction. Mostly, I’m just looking for a home with patient, kind, calm people who want to spend time with me, who will encourage and reassure me when I get nervous, and who will help me realize that I’m finally home. That’s all I’ve ever wanted. Please call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387 if you can give me the forever home I've been looking for. I'm in the KC area, but my human friends say we can go for a ride in the car (yay!!) to my new home, even if it's not right here in Kansas City. #thepetconnection #fletch #happy #socute #adoptdontshop

Story
Who loves a golden girl? Meet KCPP`s own golden girl, Virginia. This girl is an 11 year old boxer who weighs 66 pounds. This girl came to be at the shelter when a citizen saw her being dumped from a car near the shelter. The citizen was able to collect her before she was hit by a car and bring her in. In her golden years, Virginia should be chilling in her one of many dog beds, until her food is served in her fancy dog bowl. She definitely deserves to be in a home and not the shelter. She enjoys car rides, napping, and at times, acts like a puppy at heart.Virginia likes to take her walks at her own pace and who can blame her? This girl deserves to take her time and smell the flowers, if she chooses! Virginia has attended doggy play group and is selective with her doggy friends- she may be happiest spending her golden years as an only dog. If you have a nice, social dog- please bring them in to meet Virginia. Virginia went in a doggy day out and was great in the car. She isn’t a big treat fan, unless the treat is maybe a chicken tender or nugget, then this senior gal is IN! Also, Virginia seems to love children. She was in her glory around the kids on her DDO. We know she is gentle and relaxed and would love to have someone fall forever in love with her! She will definitely not judge you for binging shows on TV, as long as she is snoozing next to you! She recently spent an afternoon with a volunteer: “We took Virginia for a drive, and got her some McDonald’s French fries! She was a little apprehensive about eating them at first, but once she got a taste she wanted more and more! She did so good in the car as well! We took her home and gave her lots of snuggles, and she gave us so many kisses! She didn’t get up on the couch until we invited her up! We watched Bluey, and she seemed to really like it! She is so gentle, sweet and loving, and was really good about doing her business outside! She didn’t bark or pull on her leash, and she knows sit and kind of knows lay down! Virginia is the sweetest girl. She doesn’t seem to have any bottom teeth, so she wasn’t interested in treats or chewing on a toy. Virginia deserves to be in a happy home with a family who will be happy to let her snuggle with you on the couch and give you lots of kisses. She is SUCH a good, happy puppy dog!”Virginia is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. Her ADOPTION FEE IS WAIVED! We want all our dogs to have homes as quickly as possible. In

Story
Meet Dennis Dennis is approximately four months old. Personality: Dennis is a loving and playful puppy with a heartwarming backstory. He was rescued at just one week old from a neglectful situation and nursed back to health with the help of his devoted mother. This experience has made him incredibly affectionate. Dennis loves to cuddle and often buries himself in blankets for extra snuggles. He is playful and enjoys interacting with his brother, Menace and his mama, so he would likely thrive in a home with another dog that enjoys playtime. House-training: Dennis is making remarkable progress with house training and readily goes into his crate to sleep. He is currently learning basic commands like sit, stay, and come. Dennis and his Brother were rescued from a dire situation and given a second chance at life. They are a testament to the power of love and care. My dream is for them to grow up in a loving home where they will be safe from abuse and neglect.

Story
Little Mama is 5-7 years old and was rescued from a neglectful home, despite this, she has blossomed into a sweet and loving companion and remains gentle and affectionate. Little Mama's past is heartbreaking. After giving birth to a litter of six puppies, she was cruelly confined to a crate in the heat without food or water and she was mistakenly labeled an unfit mother. Little Mama and her one-week-old puppies were brought to my home so I could help her regain weight and health. Little Mama would be most comfortable in a calm and loving home with patient and understanding owners. While her past may make her initially wary of new situations, she is eager to learn and trust. A home without young children or other pets may be preferable initially to allow her to adjust. Little Mama is a true survivor who deserves a loving forever home where she can finally experience the comfort and companionship she so richly deserves.
