Story
I give you my very best “awoooo” as a hello! My name is Janet, and I was probably named after Ms. Jackson since we’re both such fabulous ladies. My siblings and I were strays down south before we were found by some lovely people. Turns out pets and kisses are about the best thing! A little bit about me: before coming to MN I had never been in this thing called a “house”. I’m learning things like stairs, the TV, and other household items aren’t so scary. I really enjoy learning new things, especially when treats are involved! I sleep all night in my kennel without a peep! My foster mom says I’m just the smartest girly! I’m so proud to announce that I still haven’t had a single accident in the house. Go me!!Otherwise, I’m pretty chill! I have lived with many other dogs and get along with them really well. I’ve been great at sharing my toys and having chew things around with other dogs. My foster mom says I have a perfectly squishable face, which I think is a compliment. I come out my shell a little bit more every day and am excited to see what new things I’m going to learn tomorrow.Hope to sniff you soon!!Janet is Heartworm positive and is waiting for a negative test result which can take 2-9 months after treatment. Her treatment has been completed and she will need a Heartworm test every 2 months to follow up on her treatment progress until she has a negative result. During these months, you will need to make sure her heart rate is not elevated due to high energy play or exercise. Janet will also need continued use of monthly Heartworm prevention going forward. These medical needs will be the responsibility of the adopter. --------------------------------------------All our Warrior Dogs will have all age appropriate medical care and vaccines, a microchip, and spayed/neutered if the dog is over 6 months of age at the time of adoption. Please note that the majority of our dogs in rescue are from shelters where they have been found as strays or abandoned. Their breed description is based on our very best educated guess based on physical characteristics and their dispositions. If they came to our rescue as an owner surrender, the breed description will be listed as provided by the previous owner.Adoption Fee - $400To apply for this pup, please submit an Adoption Application at http://warriordogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application/

Story
Hi there! I’m Heidi, and I’m excited to share a little about me!I like the slow life - sitting in the sun, listening to the birds, and feeling the breeze. I’ve gone through some tough things, but I’m now in a wonderful environment and have met so many loving people along the way! I make friends with everyone, and I do think I’m the best lap dog around! I like kids, but I do get nervous around high energy kids. So I would do best around older ones. I’m the most affectionate pup, and I’ve never met a stranger! My way of saying hello is to fall into you and give you lots of kisses! I’m just the most friendly girl.Part of my story is that I am a mama of eleven pups who have found their forever homes! I’m a caring girl and just want to be right next to my people. I like most dogs, but really I mostly like the other calm dogs. I like slow intros to other pups as well. I would do well in a home either as an only pup, or with another pup who is respectful of my desire to just chill out. If I’m bothered by something, I usually just get up and move. You should also know, I'm a really good jumper! I would do well in a yard with a tall fence, or if there isn't a tall fence we can just walk outside on a leash. I'm the best co-worker for my foster mom as she works from home. I don't make a sound while she's working! And I'm a great sleeper! I haven’t had one accident in the house, and don't look for things to get into either. I’m pretty good with walking on a leash, I like to take my time to check out what is around me first. I absolutely love riding in cars! My foster mom says I’m just the best girl and that I deserve a best friend who will stop and smell the roses with me.Are you my forever snuggler?***FOSTER TO ADOPT***Heidi is Heartworm positive and not yet spayed. She will soon start her Heartworm treatment. Once her treatment is complete, and her spay is done, the adoption can be finalized. Once her adoption is finalized, it is the responsibility of the adoptive family to get a Heartworm test every 2 months to follow up on her treatment progress until she has a negative result which can take 2-9 months. During these months, you will need to make sure her heart rate is not elevated due to high-energy play or exercise. Heidi will also need continued use of monthly Heartworm prevention going forward. These medical needs will be the responsibility of the adopter. Story
From the Foster: Ajax is a gentle, sweet guy approaching 9 years old. He requires moderate levels of daily exercise and has pep in his step! His favorite activity is fetching his rubber ball in the yard. He is a solid guy that might pull a little on walks to sniff something special so the handler must be strong enough to redirect him. Ajax is indifferent to other dogs, he will walk past them with barely a look. In our home, he is very respectful of our grumpy 11 year old small dog and they basically ignore each other. Ajax has recently begun a veterinary prescribed weight loss plan with the goal of losing 13 pounds to get him to his ideal 53 pound size. This will require a potential adopter to feed twice daily at the prescribed quantities and limit treats during the day. He has been doing great on this plan and enjoys hugs and "good boy" pets rather than treats anyway! He is very much motivated by food and will lay in the kitchen watching intently while the humans are preparing food however, he does not beg or try to jump up. Ajax will thrive best in a home where the humans are home most of the day. He would be a great companion to empty nesters, retired and work from home parents that enjoy multiple daily walks to keep him stimulated. He is a quiet dog and only barks as appropriate to alert us to a delivery van, someone at the door, unusual noises, thunder/lightning. He follows us around the home often throughout the day and has displayed a little anxiety/panic whining when he is left alone for short periods but hoping this improves once he's been here longer and more comfortable in his new environment. He has a few old guy "lumps and bumps" on his belly but all have been tested and nothing of concern. Ajax is taking a daily joint supplement Dasuquin for joint health as he ages. This supplement can be purchased at pet stores and over the counter. Ajax is not tested with Cats and it is unknown if he is crate trained. He is a champ at going to bed and sleeps quietly on his orthopedic bed for a solid 8 hours until his humans get up.

Story
Hi! I'm Rocky! I'm from Arkansas. From his volunteer human friends: While in the office Rocky appears to be a bundle of energy (he hates sitting in a kennel by himself for extended periods of time) but after an hour playing in a fenced yard twice daily you'll have the most affectionate companion. He loves to sit by his human, play (including fetch) and walks or runs. He loves rubber balls, chew toys (your shoes are safe) and is food motivated. Rocky is a very sweet dog who isn't a barker. He can be stubborn but that is trait that comes along with the breed. He does love to cuddle and give kisses. Put a box with all his toys out and he will play with them all. He doesn't like the crate and would love to sleep with/near his humans but could be crate trained with proper daily exercise. Rocky would be a great best friend for someone with a fenced in yard to get all that puppy energy out, better yet he'd love a similar-sized dog to play with. A home with lots of chew toys and maybe a bone to keep him busy would be wonderful. Previous fosters have said he's fine being left home alone, but would also be a companion for someone that works from home. He may need additional training, depending on the foster/adopter, in order to work on manners, basic commands and crate training. Everyone who meets Rocky immediately falls in love with him. He currently has two human friends. One of his human friends lets him use their yard and pays for doggy day camp (where he's getting straight A's). He sleeps quite a bit after eight hours of running around at camp. His other human friend drives him to day camp and takes him on extended field trips on his days off from camp. Two to three days of camp each week drains much of his energy and his friends are willing to help a foster/adopter by continuing to pay for day camp a few days per week for a period of time while he adjusts to a new home. He is good with older children. He does like to jump up on you but that can be easily mended with training. Training sessions will be a part of his adoption contract so his new owners have a good foundation. He's very smart and has learned to sit and we're currently working on shake. Rocky has been in a home with cats, he loves to play with them but also respects their protest when they don't want to play. If your cat doesn't want active play, we'd not recommend Rocky as he sees the cat as his playmate. The right owner will find a fast best friend, he's got a lot of people rooting for him because it's time for him to find his forever home.

Story
Meet Ms. Marley! Breed: Staffordshire Bull Terrier Mix Age: 2-3 years Weight: 50 pounds My Story: I was found as a stray in Brooklyn Park and wound up in the local shelter.  I was super sad and lonely but as luck would have it Spots Last Stop busted me out and things are looking up!  Now I’m on the search for my forever family. Activity Level: Medium.  I love to run in the fenced back yard and keep a lookout for squirrels and bunnies. I like to go in and out a lot and would love it if my forever family had a fenced in yard for me to play and explore.  I also love to go for walks!  I sometimes pull a little bit when I get excited but overall my leash skills aren’t too shabby. Potty Training: Piece of cake, I figured this out quickly after a few weeks in my foster home. Kennel Training: Rockstar status. I kennel during the day while my foster mom works and come out at lunch for a break to burn some energy and have a potty break. I also sleep in my kennel at night without a peep.  Its my safe space and I love it. Kids: I currently live with a teenager and I love hanging with her and her friends.  I would do best in a home with older, respectful kids.  Dogs: I prefer to be top dog so I would do best with mellow and/or submissive dogs.  I live with two dogs in my foster home now and for the most part we all get along great!  Every once in a while, I butt heads with the resident male dog because we both like to think we are in charge.  I would also be just fine as your one and only pup. Cats: I live with two cats now and I would never hurt them but I do like to chase them.  My foster parents think I would probably do best in a kitty free home so I can avoid the temptation. What I’m working on: I’m still kind of shy and unsure when I meet new people or get into new environments but I do warm up fairly quickly! I’m also learning not to jump on people when they get home or when people come to visit. I’m just a really sweet and happy girl and I have so much love to give! I can’t wait to have a family of my very own so please fill out an application and come meet me! If you would like to meet Marley, please visit spotslaststop.org and fill out an application.

Story
Capone is a very high energy, happy guy! He loves being complimented on his handsome looks and meet new people when out and about. Capone is great with children but does jump when excited so older children may be best. He is ok with dogs, but plays like a typical bully. Chases cats but not aggressively. The perfect family will enjoy a walk or 2 each day and have time to spend on one-on-one training. He is great on the leash and a joy to bring places. Capone has been through 2 months of professional training, but don’t let that fool you… he likes to pretend that never happened. He is kennel trained and is kenneled when we are out and over night. Capone needs a human/s that understands that he is consistently looking for things to get in to. He is a big toy chewer and will stick to his own toys, until you look away! We make the joke at home, that he’s a “shark smelling blood” when his humans aren’t paying attention. He’s great, when you’re paying attention.
