Story
Meet Abu and Scout, a bonded pair of best friends looking for their forever home together! Abu is a 8-year-old Boxer mix weighing about 67 pounds, and Scout is a 7-year-old Shih Tzu/Doodle mix who weighs 23 pounds. These two are ready to welcome double the love into their new home!Abu is the definition of a gentle giant. He doesn't need too much exercise — a couple of short walks per day is plenty — and the rest of the time he’s happy to nap and snuggle. He is house-trained, has free reign of most of the house, and does well when left alone for a few hours. If you’re ever wondering when it’s time to cuddle, don’t worry — Abu will let you know with his adorable (and very convincing) vocal reminders.Scout, on the other hand, is the lively little spark in this duo! He loves being around people and is especially devoted to Abu. Scout enjoys leisurely walks with his brother, playing with tennis balls (especially ripping them up), and launching himself into your lap! Like Abu, Scout is house-trained, does well without a crate, and has adjusted beautifully to a home routine.Out on walks, these two are a breeze. Both Abu and Scout are friendly when meeting other dogs during walks, though Abu can be a little selective with who he gets excited about. They’re mostly uninterested in squirrels and cats they spot while out and about. They haven’t lived with young kids before, but have loved meeting kids at the park! Their dream home will include a family who is home often. While they comfort each other when left alone for a few hours, they are happiest with their humans. Scout and Abu are a low-drama, easygoing pair, so they don’t need a fenced yard — they’re just as happy with a couple walks a day and some play time.Double the dogs, double the cuddles, double the love — what could be better? If you are interested in these dogs, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $450. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchip implant (including registration). Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. Due to post-adoption services provided, we prefer to adopt within a 150-mile radius of the Twin Cities. However, we will consider up to 250 miles if the foster agrees to travel requirements and staff approval.

Story
Updated 4.3.25   Daisy and Lilly are bonded sisters from the same litter. Daisy is the type A initiator, and Lilly is up for anything Daisy recommends. Daisy will groom Lilly and encourage her to go out and go potty. Without Daisy, Lilly would be prone to boredom and less engaged. Both girls are very comfortable with humans of all sizes and can't ever say no to cuddles. The two gals would do best with a human at home with them most of the day, however, their current foster is working 8 hour shifts and they manage well enough (Lilly does have an indoor accident here and there when home alone that long). Both are ok to be free roam in the home when alone without a human. Neither has chewed on items or gotten on the counters.    The girls' ideal home would have a big, fenced yard because both prefer to roam in a safe place vs go on walks on a leash. Their ideal home also has lots of humans (adults and kids) to give them attention often.    Their current foster thinks they are absolutely capable of learning a new routine, but if they have their way they get lots of cuddles, lots of back yard breaks, and lots of love.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 26, 2025, 8:19 pm

Story
Update 4.22.24 Meet Rosie: A Gentle Soul Ready for a Life of Pampered Relaxation! Looking for a calm and loving companion to share your quiet moments with? Then you absolutely must meet Rosie, a gorgeous 5-year-old Boxer with a heart of gold! Born in June of 2019, Rosie (officially Seerose Von Kaiserfelsen, but she prefers Rosie!) is ready to trade her past life for a future filled with comfy dog beds, gentle head scratches, and all the love she deserves. Rosie is a former breeder release, and while she was a wonderful mom, she's now ready to enjoy the single life!  She has been living with a family for the last 18 months and has been a rock star! She's spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on all her vaccinations, so she's ready to settle right into her new home. This girl is truly an easy-going lady. Her favorite pastime is relaxing on her dog bed, and she's perfectly content to spend the day lounging. She's already house-trained and crate-trained – in fact, her crate is her safe haven! She sleeps soundly in her crate in her foster mom's bedroom each night, and sometimes she even prefers to snooze a little longer in the morning! She also knows that furniture is for humans, not canines! Rosie has been a wonderful guest in her foster home and has loved meeting new adult friends. While she hasn't been around young children in her foster home, she has lived with teenagers previously. Due to her size and strength, we think she would thrive best in a home with older children who can respect her space. Now, let's be upfront: Rosie is a girl who appreciates her personal space, especially when it comes to certain prized possessions! She can be a bit of a resource guarder with rawhides and squeaky toys. We're working on this in her foster home, but it's something her future family should be aware of. Because of this, and because she hasn't gotten along swimmingly with her foster brother, Rosie would likely be happiest as the only dog in the home. She just wants all the love and attention for herself! Rosie is also currently working on achieving her ideal figure, but with regular walks and a healthy diet, she'll be strutting her stuff in no time! If you're looking for a loving, low-key companion who will fill your home with quiet affection and the occasional gentle snore, then Rosie might just be your perfect match! Come meet this sweet girl and see if you can resist her soulful eyes and gentle nature! To Summarize Rosie's Ideal Home: Adults or families with older children (teens and up) A home where she can be the only dog Someone who understands and can manage resource guarding A calm and quiet environment Lots of love and comfy dog beds! NEW TO RESCUE 3.22.23 I'm an affectionate, playful senior girl looking to be spoiled in my golden years. I'm housetrained and crate trained. I'm good on a leash, like car rides and enjoy playing fetch or tug. I love everyone I meet! I'm not keen on snake dogs or cats, but don't mind bigger dogs. I am deaf and know several commands. Overall, I'm a pretty easy gal.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 29, 2025, 8:34 pm

COMING SOON TO RESCUE 4.3.25 I'm a breeder release looking to learn the indoor, family lifestyle. I get along with other dogs, though I'm more of a companion than a player. I have grown up with children and do very well. I'll need to learn housetraining, leash skills and obedience. I'm good in a large indoor/outdoor kennel so crate training might be easy for me. I love affection and can never get enough pets. I'm a beauty and gem of a personality!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 7, 2025, 8:19 am

Story
Pippin is a wonderful little boy. I fell pregnant a month into owning him and unfortunately came down with hyperemesis gravidarum and have not have the appropriate health or energy for a young, learning puppy. He has had all his shots and is neutered and microchipped. He does well with his Bark Busters behavior training to come into our home to work with him. He learns every day, but we think he is not thriving with us and that we are the wrong environment for him. His main behavioral issue is separation anxiety. Despite this, he is a happy and healthy little puppy. He had typical puppy behaviors: mouthing, ignoring commands when something else is more exciting, and wanting to play all the time. We do not have a yard, and we think he would do great with one and possibly another dog that can help guide him. We love him so much and want him to go to a home that can help him thrive.
