Kie, who goes by Big Mike or simply Michael, in his foster home, is a dog full of personality! He is a fun guy! Some signature moves of the Big Mike include big hugs and handshakes. He loves to greet his people with a hug and that paw is always there to shake or to gently remind others he's there (we are told he's part Boxer and this tracks given his go to move of the paw swipe). He also has a really funny habit of watching TV. He is often caught staring at, cocking his head, and even jumping up and down to whatever is on TV - especially if there are other animals in the show. It is incredibly comical. Big Mike is a very active boy who wants to get out and explore! He loves walks or even better, hiking or running. He has gone on long hikes and lives with a runner and can easily keep up for many miles. He does best when he is in a home where he can get out daily for a good walk or run in addition to other forms of mental and physical enrichment. Although, it is worth noting his top priority when out is hunting those pesky squirrels and small critters. He is a dog on a mission when it comes to keeping the neighborhood free of squirrels! Michael also loves splashing around in a baby pool and dipping his toes in the lake. We are yet to see him get the courage to swim, but I bet he could learn! At the end of a good day, Michael just wants to be with his people, snuggled up while they read a book or catch up on the daily gossip scrolling through their phone. He is a dog who really seeks out being close to his people so ideally, his home would enjoy a dog who likes to snuggle. Big Mike is about 65-70 pounds and is tall and lean. He is an athletic boy who easily clears a fence when he wants. He respects the 4 foot wooden fence in his home, but we do not think he would do well in a 4 foot chain link. He is fully house and crate trained and has done well with other dogs. He does live with a cat and has stayed with cats, but does not have good cat etiquette and will wrestle and chase them. Michael lives with kids (4 and 7) and does not have any fear of kids. However, he is still a big puppy and will feed off the energy of the 7 year old boy and sometimes choose to play with him by biting at his clothing - not out of malice - but he will need more training and time before he should be placed with small children. He is assumed to be a Boxer/German Shepherd mix with a birthdate of December 2022. All in all, Big Mike is a really cool and fun dog who is sure to make the right person very happy! I give you my very best “awoooo” as a hello! My name is Janet, and I was probably named after Ms. Jackson since we’re both such fabulous ladies. My siblings and I were strays down south before we were found by some lovely people. Turns out pets and kisses are about the best thing! A little bit about me: before coming to MN I had never been in this thing called a “house”. I’m learning things like stairs, the TV, and other household items aren’t so scary. I really enjoy learning new things, especially when treats are involved! I sleep all night in my kennel without a peep! My foster mom says I’m just the smartest girly! I’m so proud to announce that I still haven’t had a single accident in the house. Go me!!Otherwise, I’m pretty chill! I have lived with many other dogs and get along with them really well. I’ve been great at sharing my toys and having chew things around with other dogs. My foster mom says I have a perfectly squishable face, which I think is a compliment. Hi there! I’m Heidi, and I’m excited to share a little about me!I like the slow life - sitting in the sun, listening to the birds, and feeling the breeze. I’ve gone through some tough things, but I’m now in a wonderful environment and have met so many loving people along the way! I make friends with everyone, and I do think I’m the best lap dog around! I like kids, but I do get nervous around high energy kids. So I would do best around older ones. I’m the most affectionate pup, and I’ve never met a stranger! My way of saying hello is to fall into you and give you lots of kisses! I’m just the most friendly girl.Part of my story is that I am a mama of eleven pups who have found their forever homes! I’m a caring girl and just want to be right next to my people. I like most dogs, but really I mostly like the other calm dogs. I like slow intros to other pups as well. I would do well in a home either as an only pup, or with another pup who is respectful of my desire to just chill out. If I’m bothered by something, I usually just get up and move. You should also know, I'm a really good jumper! I would do well in a yard with a tall fence, or if there isn't a tall fence we can just walk outside on a leash. I'm the best co-worker for my foster mom as she works from home. I don't make a sound while she's working! And I'm a great sleeper! I haven’t had one accident in the house, and don't look for things to get into either. I’m pretty good with walking on a leash, I like to take my time to check out what is around me first. I absolutely love riding in cars! You see, it isn’t that Sugar wasn’t a good fit for me, in fact, I truly am as sweet as sugar, but I came to my foster mom in really rough shape and since I didn’t respond to Sugar, foster mom thought it would be perfect to give me a new name for a new beginning; and boy have we had a journey. During this time with my foster mom, I have gone through 3 separate knee surgeries due to an ACL tear and one separate surgery for a lump on my toe that needed to go! Ha ha, that rhymes! Now that I am all healed, I am ready to finally find my new forever home! Now that all the boring health stuff is out of the way, let me tell you all about myself! I love doing so many fun and exciting things. I love playing fetch outside, and it doesn’t matter what I’m fetching. I am all in! I take really good care of my toys too that they'll likely last forever. I’m super food motivated too so you could likely teach my any commands you want. There really isn't anything I wouldn't do for a good smelly treat, I would absolutely excel in an obedience class. I love going on walks too, especially when we run into new friends! I just love pretty much everyone. I even like cats! I have learned that some kitties are not interested in playing but others enjoy playing with me as much as other dogs. My absolute favorite thing in the entire world is when I get to spend time with my foster mama. I love nothing more than getting pets, belly rubs, and plopping onto foster mom's lap for extra close cuddles. She even lets me sleep with her at night and it makes me sooooo unbelievably happy that I curl up right against her back. She really says I am truly the best cuddler in the world. And if I’m not cuddling on the cough, I am probably sitting on the cough like a human. It makes me feel special. Now while foster mom says I am pretty much perfect, I do have one area that I still struggle with a bit. Now mind you, I have made leaps and bounds in this category but sometimes I still have potty accidents. These are few and far between if you follow some easy instructions: let me out regularly throughout the day, make sure you let me out as soon as we wake up in the morning and before we go to bed, and keep me crated if you leave the home in a special crate that foster mom can discuss with you in further detail. These simple things really prevent 99% of accidents. Also, did I mention, I easily go into my crate every morning before mom goes to work?
