Story
Available to adopt – Pumpkin Current location – Clarkston MI Its Pumpkin time! No, not pumpkin spice time – that’s a story for another season! This pretty little girl is almost ready medically to find her perfect home. This perfect princess deserves the best, so she can forget about her terrible past. Miss Pumpkin came to us in January, as the result of a cruelty case. On intake, she weighed in at only 29lbs! Can you even imagine what her life must have looked like? Makes us cringe, and more importantly, it makes us want to do the absolute best by her for the rest of her life. Pumpkin has been in the care of one of our awesome foster homes on a slow refeeding protocol and just look at her now! She’s happy, she hops like a kangaroo and she’s just adorably cute! Pumpkin is estimated to be 4-5 years old and will remain on the smaller side. Things that potential adopters should know: She would benefit from having another dog around, to teach her “dog skills” Cats love her. She ignores them. She would benefit from some basic obedience training. This is all new to her. She loves her crate, especially when offered a treat. Toys confuse her. Can be a little leery of men at first. You must embrace the full tail look. She LOVES to snuggle. We are starting the search for that perfect home for her. One with kind, caring people who will be patient and offer consistency in her daily life. Someone who can help her be the happy, loved girl she is meant to be.  Is this you? We’d love to hear from you. ##2644394##

Story
Available to Adopt – Benson Current Location – Fostoria OH Attention Senior Lovers! This nice old guy is very lovable, playful and is searching for a nice retirement home. Benson came to us as a shelter transfer and we had been told he was a hospice case. Once in our care, Benson said “Whoa! Not so fast! I’m not planning to check out quite yet.” We’ve had him evaluated at our own vets and have been given a much more positive outlook. Is Benson elderly? At approximately 11 years, yes. Does he have some age-related issues? Also, yes. But is any of this slowing him down or dimming his shine? Oh, heck NO! Benson has proven himself to be a good boy, a friend to all and a great companion. Benson enjoys the company of other dogs, often romping around in the yard with them and then snuggling up for a nap. He’s seen many cats both inside the home and out and tends to just ignore them. He’s done great with being crated while his humans work and is always happy to see them when they return. He actually prefers to eat in his crate. Benson is a gentle guy and is easy to be around. So, in a nutshell, what we have here is a nice old gentleman. He’s looking for a friend to accompany on leisurely walks, have deep conversations with and curl up beside at the end of the day. While we really don’t know if Mr. B has months or years remaining, what we do know is he has a lot of love to share in whatever time he does have. Who’s ready to share that time with him? ##2668603##

Story
Have you ever found yourself saying “Boxers are like potato chips. You can’t have just one.”? Well, here are your chips, and your chance to make a big difference. Merlin and Sugar Pie are bonded. They’ve been together their entire 7 years, and are looking for that special home to stay together in. Their story is not quite our usual one – they have journeyed from Florida all the way to Michigan. Previously, they lived on a farm with many other animals, including 2 smaller dogs. Unfortunately, their owner had to have surgery and did not survive. Family could not take them in, and a boarding kennel kept them for as long as they reasonably could. They were getting close to being turned over to a high kill shelter, when a visiting Good Samaritan learned their plight. She brought them all the way home to Michigan with her. Unfortunately, it has not worked out with her resident dogs and some ongoing health issues. We are seeking to help place these two into a new home together. Merlin and Sugar Pie have solid vet records, from puppies until current day. They are fixed, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. They were very well behaved in the car for the long trip north and are fully house trained. Both walk well on a leash. While they do get the occasional zoomies, they are also known to be snugglers and have done well with the children they’ve encountered. In their previous home, they lived with horses, chickens and even tortoises!  What this pair needs now is a safe place to permanently land, and a home that is committed to keeping them together. Can you be that home? Lets talk. LOVE car rides Low maintenance Super people friendly Can be left unattended Merlin is super chill Sweetie needs a human that will continue to provide her guidance VERY well behaved  listen well  Great on leash  ##2661446##

Story
Available to Adopt – Daisy Current Location – Kalamazoo MI Driving Miss Daisy was a great old movie! Who’d like to take on the lead role in real life? This Daisy just loves to go for car rides and to accompany you whenever possible. While she may have a few years under her belt (estimated 8/9), she has matured to a gentle beauty who enjoys human companionship. Daisy would love a forever home that lets her share life to the fullest extent possible. Some key facts about Daisy – Fun and possesses a unique mixture of boxer traits Likes to eat in her crate, but otherwise not really needed Appears to like other dogs, males in particular Loves all people Cats are unknown, but does not appear to have prey drive Laid back and easy on leash The one thing Miss Daisy does not have is her driving privileges. She’s on the hunt for a good chauffeur so she can thoroughly hone her backseat driver skills. She’ll instruct you where she wants to go, and it might just be back home to lounge on the couch. ##2671645##
