Story
Everyone, meet Kobe!Kobe was surrendered to the shelter due to no fault of his own. Unfortunately, he was in a living situation where the two permanent resident dogs were not very nice to him. Surprisingly, Kobe actually very much loves other dogs and played well with his friends here. So if you have canine friends at home, we will want you to bring them here to the shelter to meet Kobe before we can allow Kobe to become a part of your loving home. Kobe is still healing from some injuries he sustained in his previous environment so we are careful when handling him, but he truly loves human love and attention and craves pets and loving. He knows how to Sit, Shake (with both paws) and knows Down fluidly! If you are interested in welcoming Kobe into your home, please come meet this sweet, loving boy today. Bring a tennis ball with you, as he loves to play fetch!!If you are interested in adopting me or another homeless pet at Macomb County Animal Control, walk-in adoption hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm.My adoption fee is $75

Story
Butternut has the most adorable pouty lips! She is estimated to be about a year old and weighs 40 pounds. Oh my goodness, what a sweetie Butternut is! She is affectionate, cuddly, and really loves to lean into you for affection and attention. Be prepared to shower her with love, she is so darn cute you won’t be able to resist. While she can be a little bit unsure at times, with some confidence building, she will just blossom. Butternut would benefit from some basic obedience training too, but she's an eager learner and will master these skills quickly with positive reinforcement and maybe if a few treats are involved! She's an all-around great dog and is sure to bring lots of joy to her forever family. She will need a home where any children are at least 4 years old. If there is another nice doggy sibling in the home, Butternut would love to meet them. She has a friendly, loose, playful approach with other dogs. If you are interested in Butternut and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

Story
Meet Harley! This adorable boxer babe is three years old and weighs in around 60 pounds. She is eagerly awaiting a family that will love her for the wonderful pup she is! Before coming to GLDR, Harley spent some time in a home so we have lots of great info to share with you! Harley is both crate-trained and house-trained! She also knows tons of commands! When it comes time to play, she is ready and willing to have a good time! She likes her stuffed toys and enjoys chasing a ball. Playing tug is her favorite! A fenced in yard for her to romp in is a must for this fun-loving pup! Harley is admittedly a little overweight, so her new family will need to commit to daily exercise and a healthy diet to ensure she is living her best life. She loves going for walks and will require a harness lead to help keep her focused and safe. Harley needs an experienced adopter who is ready to train her and form a lifelong bond. Harley does well in the car and would make an excellent copilot. At the end of the day, Harley is content to sleep quietly through the night in her crate. Based on our evaluation, Harley would do best in an active home with adults or families with kids ages eight and up. She lived with kids before and adores them! Although Harley is dog selective, we feel she would do best as the only animal in the home. If you think you could be the family to give Harley the forever home she deserves, please visit greatlakesdogrescue.com today and submit your application for Harley.

Whiskey was born July 15, 2023. He came into rescue at 8 weeks old when the owner couldn’t find him a home. His mother is boxer and father Black and Tan hound. (Pictures of parents attached.) He is a sweet playful pup that has done great with small and large dogs. He is crate trained and doing very well with his house training. He loves toys and sticks to chew on. He has had his shots, neutered and microchipped. Wouldn’t you love to add this baby to your family? We use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport.

Citrus

Boxer English Bulldog

Female, Adult
Detroit, MI
Size
(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
Details
House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Citrus was living alone in an abandoned house with no doors or windows. We trapped her, and she got very upset. Citrus was growling for many many days, and did not allow any handling. She finally came around to trust us, and is now a loving sweetheart. Citrus wants an understanding foster-to-adopt home, who wants to baby her. She is estimated to be 2-4 years old, and a mix between English Bulldog and Boxer. Citrus has a classic cautious and disapproving yet personable English Bulldog personality, and the silly play style of a Boxer. We are looking for a household without children for Citrus. Leashed walks are fine, she does not require a fenced in yard. Citrus has dog friends at the shelter - but incorporating her into a home dynamic with other dogs will take weeks. If you are up for it, we can discuss. We cover all needed vet care. The adoption fee is $275. Please apply through our website: rebeldogsdetroit.com/applytoadopt
