We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peaks your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application (DOG:https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=44, CAT: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=41, EXOTICS: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=46) completely. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.

Story
Meet sweet, sweet Marta! Marta was found at the local shelter, cowering and shaking in her kennel. She was an owner surrender as they could not take care of her needs. She was extremely emaciated and looked at us with her doe eyes, we knew we had to show her the good life. Marta is the sweetest and most gentle of dogs. She LOVES to play with her foster siblings, big and small. She lives with 5 cats and enjoys their company. She gets all loose and wiggly whenever she meets a new person and kids are her JAM! Her foster family often finds her snuggled up in the kid's bed. She would be best in a home with other dogs and with a family who can be patient and kind, she is fearful of loud noises and living in a house is new to her. She wants nothing more than to be with her human. On walks she will stand right next to you and lean in for the occasional pet. *6 months old *Currently 28lbs but should be about 35lbs - girl needs some snacks! *Spayed, UTD on vaccines and microchipped *Dog, cat and kid friendly *Perfect mix of playful and chill *Still learning how to potty outside *Will steal your heart with those big doe eyes and wiggly butt APPLY TODAY!!! https://peaceloveandpawsrescue.com/adopt%2Ffoster-application

***LeBron is in a foster home, so he is not at the kennel. If you are interested in him, please fill out an application at K9stray.com and we will be in touch. Thank you.*** LeBron is a healthy 11 week old, 14 pound young man. He is very attentive to where you are, loves exploring and playing fetch. He knows sit and is excellent at pottying outside. He thrives with routine and sleeps through the night. He likes the big dogs but does not overly bother them. LeBron has a shiny, soft coat and gives gentle kisses. In the photos with his brother KD, he is the one with two black front feet. LeBron is searching for a family that will include him in everything. He is ready to meet you! It is important that his new family understands the commitment and amount of work puppies require before adopting. He will also need someone who is home frequently because he can't be left alone for a long period of time due to being a puppy! A family that is active and who will provide him with love and guidance he needs is perfect. LeBron is looking for a family to be his best friend for life! If you are interested in LeBron and are at least 21 years old, please fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

***Adoption Pending*** ***KD is in a foster home, so he is not at the kennel. If you are interested in him, please fill out an application at K9stray.com and we will be in touch. Thank you.*** Kevin Durant (KD) is a healthy 11 week old, 15 pound young man. He stays close, some would say a velcro dog, has a chill personality after reasonable play time and is cautious of new things but comes around well. He is a pro at sit, enjoys fetch, and is excellent at pottying outside. He thrives with routine and sleeps through the night. He likes the big dogs but does not overly bother them. KD has a shiny, soft coat and gives gentle kisses. KD is larger than his siblings with cute white toes, a pouty lower lip and beautiful brown eyes. KD is searching for a family that will give him confidence, be patient when introducing new things (it won't take long!) and buy him all of the toys. It is important that his new family understands the commitment and amount of work puppies require before adopting. He will also need someone who is home frequently because he can't be left alone for a long period of time due to being a puppy! Meet Harley! LONG-TERM KENNEL RESIDENT WHO NEEDS A FOSTER HOME!!! LOVES ALL PEOPLE & KIDS! This adorable boxer babe is three years old and weighs in around 60 pounds. She is eagerly awaiting a family that will love her for the wonderful pup she is! Though she did have a brief straycation in November, Harley is currently back at the kennel and is highly stressed! She needs an experienced foster to give her the break she deserves while we search for her forever family! Always out to impress, she is both crate-trained and house-trained! A bright and eager learner, Harley is ready to show off her skills! She knows commands like sit, down, shake, and off! With the help of high-value treats, she's ready to learn even more! When it comes time to play, she is ready and willing to have a good time! She likes her stuffed toys and enjoys chasing a ball. Playing tug is her favorite! A fenced in yard for her to romp in is a must for this fun-loving pup! Harley enjoys going for walks and does best when harnessed. Up for exploring? She rides well in the car and is ready to join you on all of your adventures! At the end of a fun-filled day, Harley is perfectly content to spend her day lounging inside with her people. She enjoys snuggling in with cozy blankets on her favorite spot on the couch. She sleeps quietly through the night, grateful for foster family and hopeful her forever family will soon come her way. Based on our evaluation, Harley would do best in an active home with adults or families with kids ages eight and up. She has lived with kids before and adores them! Although Harley is dog selective, we feel she would do best as the only animal in the home. She needs an experienced adopter who is ready to train her and form a lifelong bond. If you think you could be the family to give Harley the forever home she deserves, please visit greatlakesdogrescue.com today and submit your application today!
