Simba 9 years 90lb completely indoor kept. Awesome watch dog never bitten anyone. Look ferocious but a very gentle boy. Loves hugs. Seeking senior home he is more like service dog love to sit close to you, follows you around unless others in the home to gravitate to. House trained will bark to go out if no doggie door. Had him since 4 mos old only 1 serious incident he chewed newly sprayed grass had insectide on it. Treated immediately recovered quickly. Im disabled on legs now he need home to get proper care like a daily walk or lil exercise . He is heavy so tires out quickly as well overheat easily in sun. Absolutely love car rides.

Story
Betsy is a FUN dog who loves to be with other dogs, maternal and bouncy. She is not aggressive or bossy but does have a bark and her terrier DNA comes out when meeting new smaller dogs. She has spent most of her time with bigger dogs and enjoys being the 'shortie' of the playgroup. Betsy is not food motivated, nibbles through the day, but has managed to become a bit fluffy. 50 lb dog now, she loves car rides, water! and sunbathing. Betsy is spayed, up to date on vaccines and very health - a bit fluffy as she has matured, now 4 years old. Her breed had been a guess until now! a donated DNA test revealed the classic Houston mutt mix of American Pit Bull Terrier, Lab, Boxer, German Shepherd, Shar Pei, Chow Chow. She is a short dog with medium double coat and a sharp mind. She has been fostered with kids, other dogs and in a house/apartment. She is crate trained and loves routine - literally bounces up and down, runs outside then back into her crate to nap. She would benefit from a yard due to her energy.

Story
Meet Tonka! A good dog looking for his forever home! Tonka is a pooch with a bit more energy, he can sometimes play a bit too excitedly and should meet any dog siblings before going home. He should also be in a home without children under 5 to keep him comfortable. Here are some comments from his foster parents: `Tonka instantly opened up once we drove away, and he’s super duper sweet and gentle with his toys, his mouth, and with humans even when he’s excited! He gets along with kids and dogs so far (but we’re working on leash training because he wants to make so many friends that he pulls a lot). Potty trained (so far) and doesn’t chew on things. Not very treat motivated surprisingly but loves peanut butter and praise.` Tonka is currently living in one of our wonderful foster homes. Adopting from foster is easy! Please email adoptions@hshv.org or call (734)662-5585 to arrange a meeting today!

Story
Hi! I'm Bones!! I am a big boy who doesn’t understand his size or strength, but a lover!!! He’s living his best life playing, exploring and loving the humans taking care of him! The world is very new to him so he is learning. There are a lot of things that he is scared and unsure of. It takes time patience and reassurance.  His leash manners are not the best and most certainly a work in progress. He is a puller, but I know he will and can learn he just needs someone to show him patience and consistency. It is also going to be trial and error when it comes to what leash he will respond to best. We used a shorter slip lead leash we had at home the leash for the harness was way to long for him at this time. We found with the longer leash he was in control and could pull more during walks. This again will come in time with patience and consistence. We have been working on sitting and waiting as we go outdoors. He is very treat motivated and was able to hold a sit and stay until I released him. I have him sit and then put the leash on.  He also responded well to correction and redirection. We used no sir and come here and he responds to those very well. Bones is an amazing dog and I know with love, kindness, patience and consistency he will continue to grow and flourish and make a beautiful addition to his forever home. He only ever had 1 accident in the house and it was during the food change, but nothing since so I believe he just had an upset stomach. He’s a big dog who thinks he is a lap dog and just wants all the love and snuggles.  ##1970520##

Story
This is 4 year old Kane. He use to live in a motel with his family when they were evicted. Now, he is not able to do that. Kane is a very sweet boy that gets along with other dogs when properly introduced and is good with kids although he does like to jump. He has not been cat tested ,but just like my dogs and others, he can learn to like cats. Kane knows his basic commands and loves to play. But as you can tell from the pictures, he also loves to chill. He is in a temporary foster right now. Kane would love to find a foster to adopt or just be adopted so he can finally be home. Maybe you'd like to meet him?
