Story
Meet Harley! This adorable boxer babe is three years old and weighs in around 60 pounds. She is eagerly awaiting a family that will love her for the wonderful pup she is! Before coming to GLDR, Harley spent some time in a home so we have lots of great info to share with you! Harley is both crate-trained and house-trained! She also knows tons of commands! When it comes time to play, she is ready and willing to have a good time! She likes her stuffed toys and enjoys chasing a ball. Playing tug is her favorite! A fenced in yard for her to romp in is a must for this fun-loving pup! Harley is admittedly a little overweight, so her new family will need to commit to daily exercise and a healthy diet to ensure she is living her best life. She loves going for walks and will require a harness lead to help keep her focused and safe. Harley needs an experienced adopter who is ready to train her and form a lifelong bond. Harley does well in the car and would make an excellent copilot. At the end of the day, Harley is content to sleep quietly through the night in her crate. Based on our evaluation, Harley would do best in an active home with adults or families with kids ages eight and up. She lived with kids before and adores them! Although Harley is dog selective, we feel she would do best as the only animal in the home. If you think you could be the family to give Harley the forever home she deserves, please visit greatlakesdogrescue.com today and submit your application for Harley.

Story
* Location: Near Cleveland, OH Hello! My name is Valentino. They say I’m named that because I was born on Valentine's Day. Pretty cool, huh?  I'm 4 years old and originally came from a home where I was not treated very well. Since I came into the rescue, I’ve been pretty spoiled, and I won't lie, I like it... a lot! I am neutered and current on all my vaccines.   Now to tell you a little bit about me. I'll start with the good stuff first  I'm super loving and affectionate. I like to cuddle, but I will also go off and lay on my bed. I love my toys and enjoy playing fetch, but I also enjoy playing with my toys by myself. I toss them in the air or roll around on the ground squeaking them. My foster mom says I act more like a puppy than a 4-year-old and that I'm pretty darn adorable!  I've never had an accident in the house and can be left alone loose and not be crated. I've never gotten into anything, I'm a good boy. But, I will admit when my foster mom leaves, I prefer to be able to look out the window to watch and wait for my her to come home. I do prefer to be with someone who's home more than gone. If you work from home, I would love to share your office with you, that's what I do with my foster mom now. I enjoy sharing your space. I know how to sit, stay, come, lay down, and wait. What I’m not so good at yet is not getting excited and overstimulated. When people come in the house, they say I still need to work at not being so enthusiastic.  Once you get settled in and pay attention to me, I will calm down.  I won't lie, I just love lots of attention. I'm best in a home without other dogs. They say I'm reactive when on walks and I need some training with this. We're working on it, and I’m hoping to improve. I'm really trying, but I never had any kind of training before so it's not always easy for me. Walking on a leash is totally new to me, so that is a work in progress still.  I will need a fence to keep me safe. I could probably jump over a 5 ft fence if I wanted to, so I guess I might need a 6 ft fence. I just can't help myself. I get really excited sometimes when I see people and dogs.  Do you think you would have the patience to work with meand help me be my best self? Please complete one of those application things if you do because, after all, I am pretty cute and you will fall in love with me immediately. I’m not bragging or anything, but that's what my foster mom tells me all the time.  I can't wait to find my forever home!!! ##2122141##

Story
What a darling girl Winter is with her cute speckles! She is estimated to be about 9 months old and weighs 38 pounds Winter is a beautiful and sweet pup with a docile temperament, she is just a treasure. She loves to lean in close and is so gentle and affectionate. We are not sure what this sweet muffin has been through in her short life so far, but she is very hand shy and tends to cower when you reach toward her. She is also afraid of squeaky toys. Despite her shy nature, she yearns to please those around her. With a little patience, consistency, and confidence-building, Winter will blossom into a brave and loving companion. She would do best in a more predicable type home where any children are at least 8 years old, where she can feel safe and comfortable while she learns to navigate the world. Winter is dreaming of a loving home, she is going to make some family so lucky with all of her sweetness! If there is another nice doggy sibling in the home, Winter would love to meet them. She has an apprehensive approach at first, then goes into play mode and really comes out of her shell. We highly recommend another dog in the home, it could really help build her confidence. If you are interested in Winter and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

STAR is a foster-based rescue. All our rescue animals stay in foster homes until adoption. We do not have a central facility. If you want to meet any of our adoptables please submit an application.  Hi! My name is Gnocchi and I'm an extra special boy! My foster mom saved me from being euthanized at an over crowded shelter.  I already know the commands "SIT" "SHAKE" and "DOWN". I love other dogs and I LIVE for playing with stuffed toys! They are my favorite thing in this whole wide world! I especially love squeaky toys! I don't try to escape or dig out of my fenced in yard. I would prefer to have a fenced yard instead of a tie out because they freak me out a little bit, though I'm not afraid of loud noises and my foster mom says I'm a joy to have around and she is really going to miss me when I find me "forever family." If you think that you could be his person, please fill out an application. Thank you! Love, Gnocchi. If you have questions about me you can email my foster mom at heather@savingtailsanimalrescue.org All STAR animals come vetted, Up to Date (UTD) on age appropriate shots and testing, spay and neutered (if of age,) and microchipped. AGE DISCLAIMER: Unfortunately, most of the orphaned animals that come into our rescue looking for homes don’t bring birth certificates. Sometimes we know our pets’ ages. Sometimes we don’t. So we make our best guess based on the condition of their teeth and the veterinarians best guess.   BREED DISCLAIMER: Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label . Microchips: For the safety of our dogs and peace of mind of our fosters and adopters, STAR microchips all dogs prior to adoption with Petlink Microchips. Please understand that all dogs MUST still wear a collar with ID tags (which include your current information) AT ALL TIMES. Please remember, our foster dogs are extremely important to us-- we will always take any of our dogs back, if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog. Never surrender him/her to a shelter! Story
STAR is a foster-based rescue. All our rescue animals stay in foster homes until adoption. We do not have a central facility. If you want to meet any of our adoptables please submit an application.  Hi! My name is Candy Corn! I got my name not only because I am SO sweet....but  because my foster mom found me on the side of the road when she was on her way to a vet appointment with her other foster puppies and she lured me with candy corn! I was super skinny and all on my own, and I was scared. She tossed me some candy corn, and I scarfed it right up I was so hungry. It also showed me that I had nothing to be afraid of, so I was brave and went to the vet with her. They found out that all though I clearly hadn't been taken care of and I was skinny with fleas, I was in great health otherwise and SO very sweet. I was SO appreciative to be found by a kind person. I am a petite little thing, and probably mixed with a  smaller breed. The vet guessed I will top out about 40lbs so I will stay on the smaller size. I am heartworm negative and already microchipped and up to date on my vaccinations. I have also been dewormed and on flea/tick/heartworm prevention. I love to give kisses and cuddle and I am very submissive. I get along great with other animals including cats and I am gentle so I would be great with kids! If you are interested in meeting me, I would love a forever family of my own! I will be spayed and the rest of my vetting completed on 10/21 so I could go home after that! Please fill out  an app or email my foster mom heather@savingtailsanimalrescue.org with any questions. My adoption fee is $265 and it includes all my vetting up to date including spay, some food, leash, collar, treats and toys and some other goodies.
