Story
Meet Harley! This adorable boxer babe is three years old and weighs in around 60 pounds. She is eagerly awaiting a family that will love her for the wonderful pup she is! Before coming to GLDR, Harley spent some time in a home so we have lots of great info to share with you! Harley is both crate-trained and house-trained! She also knows tons of commands! When it comes time to play, she is ready and willing to have a good time! She likes her stuffed toys and enjoys chasing a ball. Playing tug is her favorite! A fenced in yard for her to romp in is a must for this fun-loving pup! Harley is admittedly a little overweight, so her new family will need to commit to daily exercise and a healthy diet to ensure she is living her best life. She loves going for walks and will require a harness lead to help keep her focused and safe. Harley needs an experienced adopter who is ready to train her and form a lifelong bond. Harley does well in the car and would make an excellent copilot. At the end of the day, Harley is content to sleep quietly through the night in her crate. Based on our evaluation, Harley would do best in an active home with adults or families with kids ages eight and up. She lived with kids before and adores them! Although Harley is dog selective, we feel she would do best as the only animal in the home. If you think you could be the family to give Harley the forever home she deserves, please visit greatlakesdogrescue.com today and submit your application for Harley.

Story
Available to Adopt - Gully Current location - Fort Wayne, IN Sometimes, you just have to take a chance on love. Who among us hasn’t at some time? Back in March, we took a chance on this beautiful boy. Is he a boxer mix? Yes. But, that didn’t matter. If we didn’t take a chance, Gully was likely to be euthanized at the shelter he was being housed at, after being found as a stray. He was in pretty bad shape, was very skinny with many compression sores and an infection. Even with all the unknowns, this good boy melted our hearts and we took that chance on him. We knew his medical needs could be taken care of and we had hoped to find him that perfect home and improve on the poor life he’d known previously. Fast forward, over 250 days later…. No, that is not a typo. This boy has been with us that long, hoping someone will take a chance on him again. Is he happy, healthy and well cared for? Oh yes, by one of our amazing fosters. But, he wasn’t meant to stay in foster care forever. He’s meant to be in his own permanent, loving home. To be honest, we are having a tough time finding that. Is it because he doesn’t look “boxery” enough? Is it because he would do best as an only pet? We really don’t know for sure, but we are asking for your help in finding his family. Could it be you? Could it be someone you know who is just looking for a great dog? Please share his information with them. Gully is estimated to be 2-4 years old, so well beyond puppy antics. He is very trainable and loves to play and follow you around. In his foster home, he is living with other dogs under supervision, so it is possible he can be around others occasionally. In his permanent home, we do feel he’d do best on his own. In this season of giving, are you able to give this boy the home he deserves? Are you willing to take that chance on 4-legged love? Please consider Gully. He so deserves a chance. ##2005207##

Story
STAR is a foster-based rescue. All our rescue animals stay in foster homes until adoption. We do not have a central facility. If you want to meet any of our adoptables please submit an application.  Hi! My name is Gnocchi and I'm an extra special boy! My foster mom saved me from being euthanized at an over crowded shelter.  I already know the commands "SIT" "SHAKE" and "DOWN". I love other dogs and I LIVE for playing with stuffed toys! They are my favorite thing in this whole wide world! I especially love squeaky toys! I don't try to escape or dig out of my fenced in yard. I would prefer to have a fenced yard instead of a tie out because they freak me out a little bit, though I'm not afraid of loud noises and my foster mom says I'm a joy to have around and she is really going to miss me when I find me "forever family." If you think that you could be his person, please fill out an application. Thank you! Love, Gnocchi. If you have questions about me you can email my foster mom at heather@savingtailsanimalrescue.org All STAR animals come vetted, Up to Date (UTD) on age appropriate shots and testing, spay and neutered (if of age,) and microchipped. AGE DISCLAIMER: Unfortunately, most of the orphaned animals that come into our rescue looking for homes don’t bring birth certificates. Sometimes we know our pets’ ages. Sometimes we don’t. So we make our best guess based on the condition of their teeth and the veterinarians best guess.   BREED DISCLAIMER: Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label . Microchips: For the safety of our dogs and peace of mind of our fosters and adopters, STAR microchips all dogs prior to adoption with Petlink Microchips. Please understand that all dogs MUST still wear a collar with ID tags (which include your current information) AT ALL TIMES. Please remember, our foster dogs are extremely important to us-- we will always take any of our dogs back, if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog. Never surrender him/her to a shelter!
