Story
Meet Harley! This adorable boxer babe is three years old and weighs in around 60 pounds. She is eagerly awaiting a family that will love her for the wonderful pup she is! Before coming to GLDR, Harley spent some time in a home so we have lots of great info to share with you! Harley is both crate-trained and house-trained! She also knows tons of commands! When it comes time to play, she is ready and willing to have a good time! She likes her stuffed toys and enjoys chasing a ball. Playing tug is her favorite! A fenced in yard for her to romp in is a must for this fun-loving pup! Harley is admittedly a little overweight, so her new family will need to commit to daily exercise and a healthy diet to ensure she is living her best life. She loves going for walks and will require a harness lead to help keep her focused and safe. Harley needs an experienced adopter who is ready to train her and form a lifelong bond. Harley does well in the car and would make an excellent copilot. At the end of the day, Harley is content to sleep quietly through the night in her crate. Based on our evaluation, Harley would do best in an active home with adults or families with kids ages eight and up. She lived with kids before and adores them! Although Harley is dog selective, we feel she would do best as the only animal in the home. If you think you could be the family to give Harley the forever home she deserves, please visit greatlakesdogrescue.com today and submit your application for Harley.

Story
Available to Adopt - Gully Current location - Toledo, OH Meet Gully, the boy with the most adorable underbite ever!  And he also comes armed with a full tail, no nub for this boy!  Gully is a typical high energy boxer, but he also knows when to calm down. Gully has a little "cloudy" of a background and there are some things we will never know for sure. Gully came to us as a stray that was in shelter care. He was very skinny, had some compression sores and a nasty infection. These issues have been dealt with, and he has no known medical issues. As for other unknowns, first is an exact age. He was originally estimated at 5 years at the shelter, but our vets and foster have guessed him to be much younger, possibly as young as 2. Gully does take a little time to feel comfortable with new people. This undoubtedly is due to his previous "life".  Once he knows you, he is very friendly and loving and adapts to new routines quickly. He does get startled with new noises outside the home, and will be vocal about it. His foster is working to help build his confidence with new noises and people, and his adoptive home will need to continue with this.  Gully is a highly trainable boy and learns new commands quickly. He is a very smart boy and very receptive to training. We hope to find him a home committed to further training, as he has the ability to go far and excel at it. He has been crate trained, and does well. He is potty trained, though as usual, will likely need a refresher course in his new home as he learns his new environment.  He tends to be more on the submissive side with other dogs. He is not a food snatcher, and if he has his preference, he will remain a grazer, not a gulper, LOL. He would love to have a playful dog friend in his new home. He is very good at adjusting his play style to the needs of other dogs. Gully does not seem to have much interest in cats, so we are not certain how he would do with them. His foster mom does believe he would chase chickens if given the chance, but respects their boundary when they are in their pen.  Mr. Gully would love to find a loving home that will help him continue to build his confidence and become the best dog he can be.  ##2005207##

Story
* Location: Near Cleveland, OH Hello! My name is Valentino. They say I’m named that because I was born on Valentine's Day. Pretty cool, huh?  I'm 4 years old and originally came from a home where I was not treated very well. Since I came into the rescue, I’ve been pretty spoiled, and I won't lie, I like it... a lot! I am neutered and current on all my vaccines.   Now to tell you a little bit about me. I'll start with the good stuff first  I'm super loving and affectionate. I like to cuddle, but I will also go off and lay on my bed. I love my toys and enjoy playing fetch, but I also enjoy playing with my toys by myself. I toss them in the air or roll around on the ground squeaking them. My foster mom says I act more like a puppy than a 4-year-old and that I'm pretty darn adorable!  I've never had an accident in the house and can be left alone loose and not be crated. I've never gotten into anything, I'm a good boy. But, I will admit when my foster mom leaves, I prefer to be able to look out the window to watch and wait for my her to come home. I do prefer to be with someone who's home more than gone. If you work from home, I would love to share your office with you, that's what I do with my foster mom now. I enjoy sharing your space. I know how to sit, stay, come, lay down, and wait. What I’m not so good at yet is not getting excited and overstimulated. When people come in the house, they say I still need to work at not being so enthusiastic.  Once you get settled in and pay attention to me, I will calm down.  I won't lie, I just love lots of attention. I'm best in a home without other dogs. They say I'm reactive when on walks and I need some training with this. We're working on it, and I’m hoping to improve. I'm really trying, but I never had any kind of training before so it's not always easy for me. Walking on a leash is totally new to me, so that is a work in progress still.  I will need a fence to keep me safe. I could probably jump over a 5 ft fence if I wanted to, so I guess I might need a 6 ft fence. I just can't help myself. I get really excited sometimes when I see people and dogs.  Do you think you would have the patience to work with meand help me be my best self? Please complete one of those application things if you do because, after all, I am pretty cute and you will fall in love with me immediately. I’m not bragging or anything, but that's what my foster mom tells me all the time.  I can't wait to find my forever home!!! ##2122141##

**Adoption Pending** Butternut has the most adorable pouty lips! She is estimated to be about a year old and weighs 40 pounds. Oh my goodness, what a sweetie Butternut is! She is affectionate, cuddly, and really loves to lean into you for affection and attention. Be prepared to shower her with love, she is so darn cute you won’t be able to resist. While she can be a little bit unsure at times, with some confidence building, she will just blossom. Butternut would benefit from some basic obedience training too, but she's an eager learner and will master these skills quickly with positive reinforcement and maybe if a few treats are involved! She's an all-around great dog and is sure to bring lots of joy to her forever family. She will need a home where any children are at least 4 years old. If there is another nice doggy sibling in the home, Butternut would love to meet them. She has a friendly, loose, playful approach with other dogs. If you are interested in Butternut and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

Story
Hi Everyone! My name is Harvest and I am a young girl looking for a forever home. I am being treated for demodex mange (non-contagious skin issue) and it is getting better by the day. Look at my glow up!  I love everyone I meet and enjoy playing with other dogs. If the sun's out... you will find me cuddled up on a lounge chair outside. Most of all I love being with my people. What I don't enjoy so much is being in a crate but I am working on it. If you do not want to crate me, I would be thrilled.  Please fill out an application asap if you are interested in meeting me! We could be best friends in no time! We do not have a facility for you to visit.  WE PROCESS APPLICANTS AND SET APPOINTMENTS BASED ON THE ORDER APPLICATIONS ARE RECEIVED , so while you are welcome to email  ccrcdogs@ccrcdogs.com with specific questions, you will want to complete the  ONLINE APPLICATION ASAP ,  which can be found at www.ccrcdogs.com, to secure your position in line for one of our dogs. You can also find  a description of our process on that same page. Puppies will not be available to be seen until their 10 day quarantine has passed. Our adoption fee is $220 for adults, $295 for puppies (under 6 months), and $150 for seniors (8 yrs and up) which covers the cost of the spay/neuter, age appropriate shots and tests, medications to bring the dog to full health, and a free visit with one of our approved vets after adoption. The majority of dogs at CCRC are obtained from animal control centers, so there is often very little known about their history or even current habits. You can always expect to do some training, regardless of whether you adopt a dog or a puppy, including crate training, house training, and basic manners. CCRC provides a variety of materials and resources to assist you with this, as well as telephone support.   November 12, 2024, 1:54 pm

STAR is a foster-based rescue. All our rescue animals stay in foster homes until adoption. We do not have a central facility. If you want to meet any of our adoptables please submit an application.  Hi! My name is Gnocchi and I'm an extra special boy! My foster mom saved me from being euthanized at an over crowded shelter.  I already know the commands "SIT" "SHAKE" and "DOWN". I love other dogs and I LIVE for playing with stuffed toys! They are my favorite thing in this whole wide world! I especially love squeaky toys! I don't try to escape or dig out of my fenced in yard. I would prefer to have a fenced yard instead of a tie out because they freak me out a little bit, though I'm not afraid of loud noises and my foster mom says I'm a joy to have around and she is really going to miss me when I find me "forever family." If you think that you could be his person, please fill out an application. Thank you! Love, Gnocchi. If you have questions about me you can email my foster mom at heather@savingtailsanimalrescue.org All STAR animals come vetted, Up to Date (UTD) on age appropriate shots and testing, spay and neutered (if of age,) and microchipped. AGE DISCLAIMER: Unfortunately, most of the orphaned animals that come into our rescue looking for homes don’t bring birth certificates. Sometimes we know our pets’ ages. Sometimes we don’t. So we make our best guess based on the condition of their teeth and the veterinarians best guess.   BREED DISCLAIMER: Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label . Microchips: For the safety of our dogs and peace of mind of our fosters and adopters, STAR microchips all dogs prior to adoption with Petlink Microchips. Please understand that all dogs MUST still wear a collar with ID tags (which include your current information) AT ALL TIMES. Please remember, our foster dogs are extremely important to us-- we will always take any of our dogs back, if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog. Never surrender him/her to a shelter! STAR is a foster-based rescue. All our rescue animals stay in foster homes until adoption. We do not have a central facility. If you want to meet any of our adoptables please submit an application.  Hi! My name is Ivy! I am looking for a forever home of my very own, I heard they are the best! I love everyone I meet and I'm a happy girl! I am very smart and eager to please. My foster mom says I love to sleep in the silliest positions.  She's sweet and funny, knows sit, down, potty trained. She's amazing on a leash, great in vehicles and so lovey!!! She's just an all around wonderful girl!!!   I am selective with my doggy friends - I prefer calm, & respectful dogs and am not tolerant of rude or obnoxious dogs.   I am cat friendly and live with foster kitties!   I love kids, but I sometimes don't know my size so I would be best with older, dog saavy children. I may look a little bit different because I have a cleft lip, but it's not a cleft palate though, so it doesn't affect me one bit other than making me EXTRA cute! If you are interested in fostering me to help me find my forever home, please reach out because my current mom is experiencing some major health complications and it would greatly help us both. If you foster, all supplies and expenses are covered by the rescue. I am completely up to date on all my vetting, spayed and microchipped. I would come with some food, leash, collar, treat, toys and some other goodies. Thank you! I cant wait to meet you!
