Story
Make sure you let us know you saw Bren on Adopt-a-pet. At 13.5 years old, Bren has found herself as one of the many unclaimed strays here at the shelter. Given her age, this is especially heartbreaking as she deserves the softest blankets, the most delicious food, and an owner that adores her. A Boxer mix, she still has a little pep in her step, and a whole lot of love to give. We want all the best for Bren so we want for her to be the only pet and we're hoping for a fenced yard too. P.S. Bren did have a lipoma mass removed on the R side of her rib area on 10/11. She will need to have a re-check 14 days from that date. *Bren is not accepting of other dogs or cats. We're not sure what she's experienced in her past life that has turned her off from them, but at this stage, she deserves to relax and enjoy the rest of her life the way she prefers.

Story
Hello everyone! My name is Sugar, and I am a 10 month old, very sweet and gentle puppy. I am not too big at 31 pounds right now. I am a little shy and submissive, so I’m looking for a patient and loving home to help me build my confidence and grow into the best dog I can be. The nice volunteers at the rescue fear I may have been hit a lot, as I tend to crouch down and stay low with my tail tucked when you go to pet me. I just need a little time to trust. I am very affectionate and have a lot of love to give, and I'm sure that with the right owner, I will learn to trust you and become your very best friend. I am looking for a calm, stable and more predictable type home where I can feel safe and secure. I really look to you for guidance and reassurance, so I will need an adopter who can instill leadership for me to be successful. I will also need a home where any children are at least 13 years old with my shy nature. Unfortunately, I was attacked by another dog before I came to the rescue, so when meeting new dogs, I will hide behind you. I am still open to meeting other dogs if there is another friendly dog in the home, I may like to have a friend. I am still a baby, so I am looking for a home that is willing to go on adventures with me and guide me through life. If you're looking for a meaningful and rewarding relationship with a pup, I'm the one for you! I'm Sugar, and I can't wait to meet you! If you are interested in Sugar and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

Story
Hi there! My name is Winnie, and I am about a 1 year old, 40 pound gorgeous girl with the best little teefers and lots of love to give! I am fun-spirited and love nothing more than a good belly rub and a nice run around the yard. I love playing with toys, and I do the cutest little play bows to them when I'm excited, it makes everyone smile at the rescue. I'm also full of wiggles and have the best time meeting new people – I just love to lean against you for some love and pets. While I'm full of energy and love, I do need some basic training even though I already know a solid sit. I am a quick learner, and with some patience and guidance, I will be the very best mannered girl. I would love nothing more than to find a home where I can have lots of space to run and play, and where I will be showered with love and affection. I just love other friendly dogs and seem well socialized with them. I have a playful, loose approach and of course do my cute play bows, gosh I love doing those! If you're looking for a fun-loving, affectionate, and playful pup, please consider adopting me, Winnie! I will need a home where any children are at least 4 years old. If you are interested in Winnie and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

Story
Meet Harley! This adorable boxer babe is three years old and weighs in around 60 pounds. She is eagerly awaiting a family that will love her for the wonderful pup she is! Before coming to GLDR, Harley spent some time in a home so we have lots of great info to share with you! Harley is both crate-trained and house-trained! She also knows tons of commands! When it comes time to play, she is ready and willing to have a good time! She likes her stuffed toys and enjoys chasing a ball. Playing tug is her favorite! A fenced in yard for her to romp in is a must for this fun-loving pup! Harley is admittedly a little overweight, so her new family will need to commit to daily exercise and a healthy diet to ensure she is living her best life. She loves going for walks and will require a harness lead to help keep her focused and safe. Harley needs an experienced adopter who is ready to train her and form a lifelong bond. Harley does well in the car and would make an excellent copilot. At the end of the day, Harley is content to sleep quietly through the night in her crate. Based on our evaluation, Harley would do best in an active home with adults or families with kids ages eight and up. She lived with kids before and adores them! Although Harley is dog selective, we feel she would do best as the only animal in the home. If you think you could be the family to give Harley the forever home she deserves, please visit greatlakesdogrescue.com today and submit your application for Harley.

Our sweet Noble had a rough road. He was emaciated, clearly abused, and abandoned, yet he just wants Love and knows how to show it. This boy is loyal as they come, he wants to be with his human. He is house broken, crate trained, He gets along with other dogs, cats, and foes great around kids. He needs a little work with leash training. He will do best with a fenced yard, but does love to go on walks. He is just a good boy. He is utd on vaccines, neutered, microchipped, and rabies vaccine. He would love to be a couch potato

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in any of our animals for adoption, or to foster an animal, please fill out the respective application here to get the process started. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. Do you have tennis balls, like a lot of them, if not will you buy some? If your answer is yes than you might be the home for me! See I am simple girl but I do require lots of tennis balls!! I like other toys but nothing gets me as excited as having tennis balls! My foster says I am just a happy gal, that is good with all people even kiddos! I am house broken, but I may have had a couple accidents but I am still recovering from taking care of my 5 babies for the last several weeks. They all have found their forever homes and now it’s my turn. I was a great mom but my foster promised I never ever have to do it again, which sounds perfect to me! I really love my foster home. See, I also get alone time and have my own room, I have adults and kids who play fetch with me a few times a day. They all helped me get better on the leash, to come when I was called, I am actually even starting to learn how to settle down and watch TV. I would probably like to stay here but they have some big dogs here, I just don’t like when they get in my way. My foster thinks I will much prefer to be the only dog in a home.  I think that is true at least to start. The cats here don’t bother me. Did I mention my NEED for tennis balls, oh I did, okay. Well that’s all for now. Let lastdaydogrescue.org know if you want to meet me by filling out an application. &#226&#128&#139Click here to watch a video of Pu Litter Eevee (Mom).Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by. November 4, 2024, 7:53 am
