Story
Citrus was living alone in an abandoned house with no doors or windows. We trapped her, and she got very upset. Citrus was growling for many many days, and did not allow any handling. She finally came around to trust us, and is now a loving sweetheart. Citrus wants an understanding foster-to-adopt home, who wants to baby her. She is estimated to be 2-4 years old, and a mix between English Bulldog and Boxer. Citrus has a classic cautious and disapproving yet personable English Bulldog personality, and the silly play style of a Boxer. We are looking for a household without children for Citrus. Leashed walks are fine, she does not require a fenced in yard. Citrus has dog friends at the shelter - but incorporating her into a home dynamic with other dogs will take weeks. If you are up for it, we can discuss. We cover all needed vet care. The adoption fee is $275. Please apply through our website: rebeldogsdetroit.com/applytoadopt

Story
They call me Exuberant, Handsome and Sweet but you can choose a new name for me when we adopt each other. I don’t care what you call me, as long as you call me. I’m a happy dog who loves people more than anything else in the world. I’m a 4+ year old mix, with a 22” collar and am very big and strong. The Vet said I weigh 73 pounds. Don’t let that scare you because I am just a mushy ball of love. I like to let everyone know how happy I am to see them by twirling around and wagging my tail as fast as it will go. This is usually when they call me Exuberant. I like to have fun. I’m such a good boy and I have good potty manners. I prefer being inside with people at night especially. Since I have a lot of energy and need exercise, your large fenced yard will be well-used. My foster peeps say I need a family, not a job. They know that I’m a quick learner and will be someone’s best dog ever. Because I’m big and young at heart, my new humans should have some experience with dogs and be able to work with someone of my stature. I promise I will try to do everything you ask enthusiastically. I don’t like loud booming noises (fireworks or dynamite) or gunfire but neither do most of my friends. Health wise, I am terrific; up to date on shots and tested negative for heartworms. Foster peeps say it means I will get my forever home very soon! Maybe it’s yours! FOCCAS is a foster based, non-profit rescue in Crossville, TN. The adoption fee Includes Age-Appropriate Vaccinations (DA2PPV, Bordetella, Rabies), Deworming, Spay/Neuter, Microchip, Flea, Tick and Heartworm Prevention, and Sheltering. Adult Dogs are Heartworm Tested and Treated as Needed. Thank You for Your Interest in Adopting a Canine Companion from Foccas-tn.org!LOCATED IN CROSSVILLE, CUMBERLAND COUNTY, TN. Story
Hello My name is venus I am just about to turn two years old. We know my mom was a full-blooded boxer and daddy was the traveling man. I was living with several brothers and sisters in a small kennel. The kind people at the rescue came and picked me up and I happy in my current foster home . I am good in the house and crate trained. If you want to play a little or just be couch potatoes , I am good with either. I ride in the car and am very good on a leash. I do best when playing with medium to large dogs, as all my current foster pals are medium or bigger. I have been waiting for some time now for my forever home. I may not be a cute puppy , but I am a solid friend that is through the puppy stages for sure! I am spayed, micro chipped up to date on all vaccinations. My adoption fee includes a health certificate to travel and the transport from Tennessee.

Winnie is a sweet and affectionate girl. She would prefer to be the only dog in the house since she gets jealous when attention is given to another dog. Winnie enjoys being petted and fussed over and would love to get out for long walks and car rides. Story
Pawtricia has been with our rescue for a number of years now, and she truly shouldn’t be here at our shelter. She’s got sweetness, sass, and charisma - yet she is currently a little too high-strung appearing for most people upon first impression. High-strung dogs are constantly alert, attentive, energetic and intelligent - however their most defining characteristics is that they don’t know how to relax. Learning how to relax simply never happened for so many dogs who grew up strays, got shuffled around, abandoned, or who are stuck living in a shelter. Similar to trauma responses in humans; dogs surviving in distressing environments over time will create shortcuts in their brain that will release adrenaline causing their body to go into fight or flight mode over and over again. The path to teach dogs how to relax - a skill more crucial than both potty training, leash walking, or recall - is individual to each dog. It takes patience and requires empathy and the ability to tune in- but it’s incredibly rewarding. Talk to us if you are interested in guiding Pawtricia into a sense of lasting safety by creating a space where she might be able to take in and enjoy the love she is given, loosen up, and become her true curious and silly self. It takes time, it isn't linear, and it’s not always harmonic, but because Rebel Dogs doesn't euthanize dogs due to trauma responses we have the knowledge and experience to help you be the difference for a dog who’s never received an application. Together we can be the difference for dogs like Pawtricia- don’t hesitate to reach out and learn more about our foster program to help us get deserving dogs out of the shelter and into a home environment! Adoption is $275, which includes spay/neuter at our vet, vaccines, dewormer, microchip, and clean bill of health. Although we work to potty train all of our dogs, we cannot guarantee full house training before adoption. Regression is a normal part of transitioning to a new home. Story
Meet Sabertooth: The Dream Boi That You Wished Upon Star For! Sabertooth is not just a dog; he's a journey of transformation and joy wrapped in fur! Having been with Rebel Dogs Detroit since his days as a feral puppy, he's blossomed from a shy, fearful soul into a confident and sociable boy who now thrives! He loves life with his current foster- and gets along beautifully with his foster doggy siblings- but unfortunately because of medical issues in the home- he cannot stay there! Sabertooth can be shy still when making new friends, both human and canine, but does well with a gentle and proper introduction. What Makes Sabertooth Special? Sabertooth is an absolute delight when it comes to playtime. He hasn’t met a toy he didn’t adore, and his antics with his doggie siblings are sure to keep you entertained. An enthusiast of all things fun, Sabertooth requires a kiddie pool in his new backyard—mandatory for those joyful splashes during the summer days. And let’s not forget his love for car rides; it’s a close second to his pool adventures! Indoors, Sabertooth’s sweet and quiet demeanor shines through. He’s the perfect companion for anyone who loves to unwind with cozy, relaxing evenings, movie marathons, or reality show binges. Imagine snuggling up on the couch with Sabertooth by your side—or even in your lap, if you’re up for it. He’s all about the cuddles and making sure you know just how loved you are. Story
Introducing Rafiki: A Gentle Soul Seeking a Tranquil Sanctuary Meet Rafiki, a truly special boy who brings love and resilience in equal measure. Surrendered to us after being found as a stray, Rafiki's journey has been one of courage and triumph over challenges. Despite a rough start with untreated seizures, his spirit remains unbroken, and he’s now looking for a calm, loving environment to call home. Rafiki’s Needs: Rafiki's seizures are now 98% under control, thanks to dedicated care and medical attention. However, he thrives in a peaceful setting as too much activity can increase his seizure activity. A home without other pets or with just one other calm dog would be ideal for him, ensuring he remains relaxed and happy. What Makes Rafiki Special? Aside from his brave heart, Rafiki is house trained, crate trained, and wonderfully nondestructive—though he has a soft spot for a good stuffie! His favorite pastimes are snuggling on the couch and playing with his collection of squeaky toys and benebones. He even takes his beloved stuffies with him when he goes out to potty, showing just how much they mean to him. The Ideal Home for Rafiki: Rafiki's perfect match would be someone who appreciates the joys and the challenges of caring for a special needs dog. He needs a serene home where he can relax deeply and bond with his caregiver. A fenced backyard is essential for him to safely enjoy the outdoors. Why Choose Rafiki? Choosing to love Rafiki means embracing his uniqueness and providing him with the stability and care he needs to manage his health. In return, Rafiki offers unwavering companionship, endless cuddles, and a reminder of the impact of compassion and resilience. If you’re looking for a quiet companion and aren’t afraid of a little special in your life, Rafiki might just be the dog for you. His calm demeanor and loving nature make him a wonderful addition to a peaceful household. Ready to provide a sanctuary for Rafiki? His journey could lead to your doorstep, transforming both his life and yours. APPLY to FOSTER or ADOPT: rebeldogsdetroit.com/applytoadopt rebeldogsdetroit.com/becomeafoster
