Hi! I’m Finn, a 6-year-old Boxer mix learning that life can be safe, warm, and full of love. My journey began with a rough start—passed around, abandoned on Facebook, and later found as a stray in horrific, emaciated condition. But that past only shows how resilient I am! Now, every day in foster care is dedicated to my recovery, filled with gentle hands, healthy food, and endless positive attention. I am the definition of a loyal, affectionate Boxer mix. Now that I'm gaining strength, my silly side is coming out: Affectionate: I thrive on gentle pets, cuddles, and leaning into my humans for comfort and support. I’m a true lovebug. Goofball: My spirit is young! I love soft beds, peaceful naps, and occasionally getting the zoomies. Eager to Learn: I am highly food-motivated and quick to please, making me a perfect student for positive reinforcement training. To continue my comeback, I need a consistent and committed home: Stability: A predictable routine and schedule, especially around mealtimes, to build my sense of security. Gentle Guidance: A commitment to positive reinforcement only. Loud noises or harsh corrections are scary due to my past. Patience & Health: A family who understands that my physical and emotional recovery is ongoing and will ensure my continued veterinary follow-up. I promise to show you unconditional loyalty. “No animal I know of can consistently be more of a friend and companion than a dog.” This reminds us of Shadow! If you are looking for a medium sized dog, he could be the one! Shadow is six years old. Why we love him: Shadow has the tenderest of hearts and the gentlest of souls. He is so grateful for attention and affection, and we truly enjoy his company. Lucky Shadow spent some time at the home of one of our dedicated volunteers who reports: "Shadow is such a happy, friendly guy. He loves my 10 year old dog and always wants to play and do zoomies together. True to his name Shadow wants to be nearby. He would prefer to be on the couch with his head in your lap but he is happy on a dog bed on the floor as long as he is in the same room. I am amazed at his total lack of mischief, no shoe or sock kidnappings not even an overturned trash can. Shadow's most grievous offense has been sleeping on the couch when I'm not home. He is very smart and knows sit and shake if you have a treat in hand (he thinks a piece of kibble is a treat). It shouldn't be difficult to teach him lots of new tricks. He is fully house trained and tells you when he needs to go outside." Shadow is a well mannered companion on daily walks and also enjoys outings in the fenced yard. Once he is done, he likes to relax and chill out with you. He is a wonderful lap dog, and the best cuddle buddy! Shadow has had such fun playing with one of his shelter companions. If you have another dog, we do require a meet and greet to ensure compatibility. Shadow wants to please and should master any commands you wish to teach him.
