Story
Hi! My name is Twiggy and I’m so excited that you’re reading my bio! I am a senior and I weigh fifty five pounds. I am a beagle boxer mix and I am the sweetest! I love to relax, it’s really my favorite thing to do and I’m super great at it. I spend a lot of time laying in my favorite chair. I am very low energy and I don’t really play. I do love walks when it’s not too hot. I also really like to go outside and check out the yard. I am housebroken and crate trained and I’m also really quiet. I like other dogs that are friendly and I don’t care about cats at all. November 4, 2024, 10:45 pm

Story
Violet, who knows the name Hela, is an adult Boxer mix who weighs about 40 lbs. She is good with older kids but should not be in a home with cats or other small animals. Violet is dog selective and does resource guard her food, so her ideal home is likely one where she is the only pet – but that is not set in stone. She is house broken and crate trained. While Violet is a total sweetheart, she is wary to receiving pets/hugs – some days she loves them and other days she would prefer to be left unbothered ( a total introvert in dog form!).November 4, 2024, 10:45 pm

Story
Bronwyn (knows the name Lily) is about 65 lbs, but could lose some weight. She is good with people and kids; she is good with cats(may want to play so a dog savvy cat would be best). Bronwyn does better with larger dogs with slow and proper introductions. She even used to go to doggie daycare and did fine. She should not be adopted into a home with smaller dogs. She did have hip and ACL surgery. So she does take a daily joint supplement which can be purchased over the counter. She is house broken, crate trained, and knows basic commands. Apply today to meet this gorgeous gal! November 4, 2024, 10:45 pm

Suzie has the patience of a saint!! She was saved from under a house where she had 14 PUPPIES!! And she was an AMAZING MOMMA!! All of her pups are long gone into their FUREVER homes and now it is SUZIE'S TURN!! Suzie is a smart and active girl. She has the nub of a boxer and the fun-loving personality of a retriever. Her ears are always perked up listening for fun to be had and she always has a smile on her face! Suzie is good with dogs, and children but at her size would be best with older kids. Suzie is also crate trained. This girl is the BEST at everything she puts her mind to... she will be your BESTEST GIRL, if you give her the chance. HURRY!!! She has waited long enough! Story
Happy go lucky Lux is a sweet, cuddly, playful, 2.5 year old rottweiler/terrier mix with moderate energy levels. He's 54 lbs and looks like a mini chocolate lab. He wants to be your one and only and would do best with children who are calmer/respect boundaries so we recommend 12+.    He is shy at first but fiercely loyal and so loving once he feels safe. He will make the best companion for someone who is kind, loving, and consistent. He would love an active family as he is always up for an adventure but also is fine with a 30 minute walk/day. He loves walks, car rides, and playing keep away with his ball, he would rather you chase him while he runs away than drop it for you! He's a silly and funny guy who always brings a smile to my face.    I crate him while I'm away as he's still learning some of the do's and don'ts of home life. He is fully house/crate trained(no accidents or marking inside) but sometimes rubber shoes appeal to him. To be fair, a lot of his toys are rubber so who can blame him?    He is not a hard or unruly dog, he just hasn't had the best luck and is often overlooked. He is 100x better and easier than a puppy but still needs a few reminders here and there. He occasionally jumps up on the counter or me when excited but listens well to the "off" command. He is just happy and curious pup but can be timid at times since he was in boarding over a year without much attention, training, or life experiences. He is currently taking one  anxiety pill a day to help him feel his best while adjusting to life outside of the kennels.    He is great on leash, doesn't lunge, bark, or pull to get to other dogs and just casually observes them during our walks. He is very quiet in the home and only barks when he hears something outside near the home. His bark is low and masculine and not high pitched. If someone approaches us on a walk he doesn’t bark but has a little stranger danger and is cautious of them. If it's a friend of yours, I just bring treats and have my friend give him a treat and he's fine.    He likes to protect me while I'm in the bathroom and often stands guard, which is pretty cute and sweet. He's protective, loyal, loving, and playful, but also knows how to just hang out and enjoy down time and cuddles.    Lux is available for adoption or you can apply to foster to adopt him to see if he's the right fit for you. He has been professionally trained and comes with three free training/refresher sessions.    All fosters are supplied with everything they need: crates, food, bowls, toys, and medical coverage. Fostering to adopt is a great and inexpensive way to see if this could be the right dog for you. It's also so rewarding to help a dog in need by giving them a temporary home to lay their head at night until their forever family comes along. When our SAAP dogs aren't in a foster home, they are kept with our boarding partners, which is very stressful and they get limited attention, exercise, and love.     For a no obligation meet and greet or to adopt or apply to foster to adopt Lux (everything is covered while you foster) apply online at https://www.adoptastray.com/foster-application orhttps://www.adoptastray.com/dog-adoption-   He is so loving and deserving of a home and will be such a wonderful companion for the right person/family.    January 15, 2025, 8:14 pm

Story
She is a petite, lil Pittie at around 45 lbs Hilda is a long-time SAAP resident who is looking for her furever home!! Hilda is a loving girl who is an expert kisser and cuddler. She has never been around small kids so older kids to no kids would be best. Hilda can get anxious around other dogs and can be reactive so her best home would have her be your one and only doggo. She is learning to be able to be around other dogs and not react. She is learning it’s ok and she doesn’t have to be scared. She is always excited to meet new people but can be a bit quirky so it’s best to meet outside and meet slowly with treats so she knows she doesn’t have to protect anyone! It would also be great for her to be able to continue her training so she can be the best dog!! If she sounds like your perfect dog; fill out an application and we can schedule a meet and greet!  November 4, 2024, 10:45 pm
