Maddie and Lenny are 7 & 6 year old boxers who have been together since they were both puppies. They share a birthday- January 10th. Both are potty trained and current on vaccinations. Maddie (Fawn) is the older sister, she is very calm and laid back. Lenny (White) is a typical boxer- playful, energetic, and loves everybody. They love playing with toys, going on walks, being around people and other animals. They have been around other dogs regularly and both grew up with a cat. Unfortunately, my living situation has changed, and while they both grew up in an apartment with a fenced in yard; they are not adjusting well to a new house. My preference is that they be found a new home together, where they have company most of the day- in the apartment they were kennel trained thru the puppy stage, and from roughly a year old each, both never needed kenneled after that. They really are great dogs, friendly, well behaved, healthy, happy dogs.

Baxter is about 8 years old and is a big ol goofy boy who loves to play with his stuffy toys. He is a happy go lucky sort of boy, but can be protective of his people. Baxter is fine with some dogs and not with others so we would prefer he goes to a home with no other dogs. When he does play with other dogs he has a rough and rowdy play style that cam be overwhelming to some dogs. The ideal home for Baxter would be a quiet house without a lot of in and out traffic of non family members coming and going, a nice couch or dog bed for him to lounge on, a toy box full of stuffy toys and a privacy fenced back yard. He is not a dog that requires a lot of exercise so playing in the house with his toys or in the backyard should be fine for him. Who loves a golden girl? Meet KCPP`s own golden girl, Virginia. This girl is an 11 year old boxer who weighs 66 pounds. This girl came to be at the shelter when a citizen saw her being dumped from a car near the shelter. The citizen was able to collect her before she was hit by a car and bring her in. In her golden years, Virginia should be chilling in her one of many dog beds, until her food is served in her fancy dog bowl. She definitely deserves to be in a home and not the shelter. She enjoys car rides, napping, and at times, acts like a puppy at heart.Virginia likes to take her walks at her own pace and who can blame her? This girl deserves to take her time and smell the flowers, if she chooses! Virginia has attended doggy play group and is tolerant of other dogs. Virginia went in a doggy day out and was great in the car. She isn’t a big treat fan, unless the treat is maybe a chicken tender or nugget, then this senior gal is IN! Also, Virginia seems to love children. She was in her glory around the kids on her DDO. We know she is gentle and relaxed and would love to have someone fall forever in love with her! She will definitely not judge you for binging shows on TV, as long as she is snoozing next to you! She recently spent an afternoon with a volunteer: “We took Virginia for a drive, and got her some McDonald’s French fries! She was a little apprehensive about eating them at first, but once she got a taste she wanted more and more! She did so good in the car as well! We took her home and gave her lots of snuggles, and she gave us so many kisses! She didn’t get up on the couch until we invited her up! We watched Bluey, and she seemed to really like it! She is so gentle, sweet and loving, and was really good about doing her business outside! She didn’t bark or pull on her leash, and she knows sit and kind of knows lay down! Virginia is the sweetest girl. She doesn’t seem to have any bottom teeth, so she wasn’t interested in treats or chewing on a toy. The only dog in an empty row they decided wasn't worth living and to walk down the hall and never return. We could not let that be his fate. Mia has made huge progress from when she was found on the streets of Kansas City, Kansas. She is 2 years old and is a small, 30 lb dog with lots of affection to give. She has become a ride along, errand running buddy who loves going to home improvement stores and meeting new people (especially if they give her treats)! When taking treats from her foster or strangers she happily takes it gently. Mia is also excited to go for walks and has been in training with professional dog trainers for the past 6 months to build her confidence and counter conditioning her fear reactivities. Mia has learned a few commands and is great on a leash. She knows sit, wait, with me, come, kennel, and we’re working on leave it. She is kennel trained, and enjoys a peanut butter Kong when she goes in. At home she finds her quiet napping spots after playing in the yard. Her favorite play activities are to chase or be chased and wrestling with her foster sister, and zoomies in general. Being from the street Mia resource guards with other dogs, but she has been making great strides and has been making great strides. She would do best with a larger non-reactive dog who likes to play or as a solo dog. No cats or young children. She can jump a short fence so she will require a tall privacy fence or leash walking for potty breaks.
