Story
Introducing Ella, a beautiful girl with a heart full of love just waiting for the right person to guide her! While she’s incredibly sweet, she thrives best with a strong leader who can provide the structure and protection she needs to truly shine. Ella has shown some signs of resource guarding, especially when it comes to her home and unfamiliar faces. Because of this, she would do best in a home without children. Are you ready to be the bridge Ella needs? With your support and guidance, she has the potential to flourish into a loving and devoted companion. Could you be the one to give this pretty girl the forever home she deserves?

Story
Beautiful Freckle showed up at the Wichita Animal Shelter in November 2024, emaciated, dirty, dehydrated, and weak. She was pulled from the shelter with a body condition score of 1/9 (the worst physical state a dog can be in prior to death from starvation). We don`t know exactly what her history is, but we do know that it was horrific and that she absolutely deserves better. Despite being starved to the very brink of death, Freckle had a sweet disposition from the moment she came to the shelter, and that sweet disposition has remained with her in her foster home and with all the humans she meets.Freckle was on a strict re-feeding program, supervised by her veterinarian, with supplements and weekly injections to help increase her nutrient absorption. Recovery has take months, but we are so proud and excited to report that Freckle has gained over ten pounds during her time with us (weight the shelter was below 17 pounds; current weight is above 28 pounds)! She has put on so much healthy muscle and is now an active, playful, happy girl!Frecks absolutely adores people. She loves her tennis ball and will run and play in the yard for as long as someone will engage with her. When she wears out, she is all about the snuggles. This sweet girl will curl up in your lap or next to you on the couch, cuddled under a blanket, and snooze. She is such a great nap buddy. Freckle is also very smart and highly food motivated. She learns quickly and would love to find a home with an active person who will work with her on learning new tricks and working on basic obedience, who will take her for walks or runs and play fetch with her in a fenced yard. We suspect that in her previous life, Freckle was forced to compete with other dogs for food and resources, and as a result, she does not get along with other animals. She typically shows little interest in other dogs, but she very much prefers to only share her space with human companions. While not her fault at all, her past trauma means she needs to be the only dog in the family. Unfortunately, that means it will be harder to find her a new home. For that reason, we are opening Freckle’s adoption to outside the Wichita area. Please share Freckle’s story and her social media posts! We need to get this sweet girl home!Freckle is a mixed-breed, spayed female, likely between one and two years old. Her ideal weight is about 30 pounds. She is housebroken and crate trained. Harley is such a pretty girl and awesome with kids and other dogs. She just spent a week at Camp Bow Wow in Goddard and had a great time romping with all of her new friends. She loves treats, belly rubs and tennis balls. Harley has been mostly an outdoor dog but is crate trained. We think you will love Miss Harley. Come meet her and see what we mean.
