Story
Stu, Lou, and Sue! We were found dumped in a ditch, but luckily some caring people stepped up and got us to PCHS so we can find our furever homes. We're in a foster home right now and look to be maybe boxer/Black Mouth Cur mixes. We're not sure, but we are oh so adorable.  If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2227660##

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Rocky is a young dog full of a great zest for life!  He is estimated to be pretty young yet - maybe around 7 months old and he looks to be a Boxer / Pittie mix.  Rocky was originally a stray from Cedar Rapids and had found himself in the crowded animal shelter in Cedar Rapids, needing a new placement.....so he was transfered to Safe Haven, where we have quickly fell in love with this sweet fella.  Rocky seems to know some basic commands already - in fact he has mastered the "sit" command, and then will roll over onto his back for a a quick belly rub!  We think Rocky is a super smart fella and it seems like he is a quick learner as well! Rocky will likely be a very loyal companion to some lucky family.  If you have a dog(s) in your home, we will require a meet-and-greet with both dogs at the shelter to help with proper introductions.                                   Interested in adopting this pet? Story
Meet Zuri, a sweet gal who loves playing with other dogs and cats. Zuri is a Boxer/Doberman mix, born February 2024.  She may be a puppy, but she's already potty-trained, leash-trained and knows basic commands.  Zuri loves giving kisses, going for walks, and being around her people.   She's nervous around children, so she would prefer a home without kids, but she'd love to have another furfriend around. The perfect home for her would be with someone who can spend plenty of time with her, keep her active, and be patient with her playful puppyhood.  She's still learning about being in a kennel.  Zuri is a very good girl girl when you're around, but gets a little nervous when left alone.  She just needs someone willing to work with her and give her lots of love!  Does Zuri sound like she could be your new puppy?  Apply to adopt her today!  The suggested adoption donation for Zuri is $415, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed adoption application. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we only assist the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time owner,s find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue, and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. To learn about Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue Inc.   If the dog or cat you adopt is older than 6 months of age and not spayed or neutered, you will receive a voucher to alter the pet at Val Verde Animal Hospital or Omaha Animal Medical Group in Omaha, at no cost to you. Or you can alter the pet at your own vet and be reimbursed $100 for dogs, and $50 for cats, of total cost. If the dog or cat is younger than 6 months of age, the adopter will be responsible for the cost of altering the pet at the vet of their choice. If proof of alter is received by Muddy Paws prior to the pet turning 6 months of age, a reimbursement of $100 for dogs, and $50 for cats, will be sent to you to help cover expenses. All puppies and kittens MUST be spayed or neutered by 6 months of age. All dogs and cats MUST be spayed or neutered no later than one month after adoption is finalized. ##2225566##
