Story
Hi, I'm Callie and I'm 5 years old! I'm a sweet, social girl that loves people. I am very energetic and playful - I love to play all the time! I know my basic manners and walk well on a leash. I do have a very high prey drive. Because of this, I must have a fenced yard and need a home with no small dogs or cats! I do well with bigger dogs though, and I want to play! Come play with me soon! What volunteers say about me: "Callie is so happy and gentle. Loves to run and gets so excited when she sees people" "So sweet! I wish I could have her!"Some quick facts about me: Not Cat FriendlyDog Selective (no small dogs but does good with bigger dogs!)Kid Friendly HousetrainedSweet girl that just needs a chance!Weight: 52 lbsIntake Date: 04/30/2024Reason: StrayGive the shelter a call at (574) 267-3008 or email them at info@awlwarsaw.com if you have any questions about me! Story
Just one look at this guy and you can't help but wonder why he was given the name Chicken? We do not have a clue. He is a senior guy looking for a home to spend out the later years of his life with all the comforts that a loving home will provide. Chicken still has a good amount of energy, but at the end of the day, he would simply prefer to curl up in your favorite chair, if you will let him, or a plush dog bed. He would do best with older children and a quieter lifestyle since that is what he had in his prior home. Come meet this guy and check out his big soulful eyes. Meet Daimen! Daimen is approximately 5 years old, a American Pitbull Terrier mix and weighs in at 49#. He came in to us as a stray with another dog and they were not reclaimed.  Daimen gets along with the other dog her came in with, but we have not yet tested him with others yet. Story
Meet Charlee!   Charlee is about 5.5 months old, currently weighs in at 24 pounds and is an American Pitbull Terrier – Cattle Dog mix. Charllee came to us as an owner surrender after her owner had a change in life circumstances. She previously lived with kids, cats and other dogs. Dogs need to be her size or larger.  NO CHICKENS OR BIRDS in her new home! She has a prey drive for them.   Charlee is a sweet and loving girl, but is shy and timid. She will benefit greatly from puppy training classes, to help her be a confident adult dog. We do have contacts of local trainers to direct you to, if adopting close to our area!   She is working on getting potty training down, so will need kept on a routine/schedule to help her get there all the way!   Spayed, microchipped, current on vaccines and on monthly prevention.   Friendly reminder: Puppies are A LOT of work and cost $$!! Pups will need help with house & potty training, socialization and obedience training!! And a family to care for them for the next 12+ years! An adorable puppy now, but require ALOT of your time. They need correct raising and training to be the best adult dogs they can be!!    Interested in adopting? APPLY HERE: https://www.fultoncoanimalcenter.org/application-to-adopt-a-dog to fill out an application.  ** Application and appointment required for adoption! A meet & greet is required with any other dogs living in the home.    “You may think that the biggest problem you'll have with a new puppy is being overwhelmed by all the cute. And in a way, that is your biggest challenge. You have to get past all the fluffy, floppy, big-eyed, clumsy cuteness to create and enforce rules and training that create a happy, balanced dog when all that puppy cuteness fades away. Many dogs that hit the "teenage" stage at about a year old end up in shelters because the owners didn't realize how much attention, exercise, training and patience a puppy would require, especially as that ball of fluff grows into a bigger, stronger dog.” -Jaymi Heimbach   Closed Sunday/Thursday  11-5 Tuesday/Friday  11-6 Wednesday 11-4 Monday/Saturday ##2256860##
