Story
In the heart of an animal shelter, there dwells a lovable girl named Shanny, patiently awaiting her forever home. She is the embodiment of a dog's unwavering love and loyalty, a true testament to the bond that can exist between humans and their furry companions. Shanny's heart is filled with a deep affection for people, and her calm and gentle disposition makes her a beloved presence to all who have the privilege of knowing her. She exudes warmth and kindness, and her eyes sparkle with the promise of shared adventures and cozy companionship. One of Shanny's favorite activities is going on a nice walk, where she can stretch her legs, explore new scents, and enjoy the simple pleasures of life. But her true joy lies in the moments that follow, as she curls up next to you on the couch while you watch your favorite TV show. Her peaceful presence by your side is a reminder of the tranquility that can be found in the company of a faithful friend. Shanny's age, at 7 years old, is often a reason why she is passed by, and it's a question that bewilders those who have come to know her. To Shanny, 7 years is a golden age, filled with countless opportunities for new adventures and stories to tell. She may not be a playful puppy, but she brings a wealth of wisdom and a heart filled with a lifetime of love to share. The question of why slightly older dogs like Shanny are often overlooked is indeed perplexing, for they possess a unique charm and grace that can only come with age. Shanny is living proof that adopting an older dog is a decision filled with rewards and countless moments of joy. So, if you're considering bringing a new companion into your life, please take a moment to consider Shanny. She is a fabulous girl with a heart overflowing with love and a world of experiences to share. By opening your heart and home to Shanny, you'll be rewarded with a lifetime of loyalty, love, and cherished memories. We promise you, the happiness she brings will be immeasurable, and together, you'll embark on a journey of love and companionship that will enrich both of your lives.

Story
Meet Missoni aka Mission! This 1 year old bundle of joy is looking for her forever home! Missoni loves to go for walks, play with her toys, and receive lots of belly rubs. This sweet girl is fully potty trained and crate trained, perfect for those who work away from home! She would love to find a family who loves to work on training with her and are pretty active! She is the queen bee and would thrive in a home without other animals. She has done very well with kids as young as 8 years old. She can be a bit jumpy so older kids would suit her better! This girl isn't just gorgeous, she's smart too! She has mastered sit, knows the name "Mission, and is currently working on commands such a "paw, "leave it, "crate, and "heel. She loves food puzzles! She's also significantly improved with her loose leash walking! Overall, this fun loving, energetic sweetheart would be an amazing addition for so many homes! She is ready to love someone endlessly and wants to experience the Christmas season and the rest of her life with her furever family! How could you say no???

Story
Bear is a very handsome, young boy looking for a forever home of his own. We believe he is a Boxer mix, sporting a very attractive dark brindle coat. We estimate Bear’s date of birth at February 10, 2021. At the time of this posting he is just under two years old. He is about 60 lbs. Bear loves people and he also loves eating almost anything. He is not so much a chewer, as a dog who likes to eat rocks, sticks, toys. As such, his new family will need to be vigilant to ensure Bear does not get himself into trouble, ingesting non-food items! Bear is active and energetic, typical of a big, young dog, and sometimes can get carried away with his play. He loves running in the secure, fenced yard of his foster home. He keeps himself entertained (but, watch out for him eating rocks, sticks, etc!!); he would not do well in a dog park or day care. We suggest he be an only dog. Given his size and energy level, Bear would not be an ideal canine companion for younger children. We expect children over the age of 12 would be ok. And of course, an all-adult home would be perfect for Bear! An ideal home for Bear is one in which he can thrive as an only dog, with a family experienced with larger dogs who sometimes can get out of hand. The family will also need to be vigilant when it comes to Bear’s tendency to seek out interesting things to eat. As is the case with all young, larger dogs, Bear would greatly benefit from obedience training which can also be a bonding experience with his new family. No doubt, Bear has the potential to evolve into the perfect pup, but is looking for that family willing to commit to him and provide him the forever home he deserves. Bear is fully vetted, up to date on all vaccinations, neutered & microchipped and on year-round heartworm prevention. To learn how you can add this handsome young boy to your family, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895. BAARK is located in the Chicago area and adopt our dogs only local to the area.
