Story
Bodie (also known as Brownie) is a 1-year-old Boxer/Pittie mix with a zest for life and a heart full of love! Weighing around 40 pounds, this energetic pup is always ready for action and still has plenty of playful puppy energy to burn. He absolutely loves running around in the yard, playing with his toys, and making new canine friends. Bodie thrives in the company of other dogs and has become quite the social butterfly at Hounds Town, never failing to get the whole room moving with his infectious enthusiasm. Because of his high-energy nature, Bodie would do best in a home with kids 10 and older who can keep up with his playful spirit. A home without cats is preferred. If you're looking for a fun-loving, active companion who will bring excitement and joy into your life, Bodie is the perfect pup for you! Apply today to meet this lovable goofball!   If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application  . Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will send to the foster family to set up a meet! The adoption fee of $200 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. Story
“Alright, listen, I didn’t want to have to do this, but you leave me no choice. Here comes the smolder.” My name is Rider, as in Flynn Rider. No one can resist my smolder, so I plan to use that to find my new home. I am a 2 year old Boxer mix. Like Flynn Rider I am an orphan that had to do what I needed to survive. I am a bit rough around the edges, but with a bit of love I am working on that. I have had a bit of a rough start. I came into Rover Rescue with a knee injury. While waiting for surgery I ended up injuring my other knee. I have now under gone 2 surgeries to fix my knees. I am still recovering and have exercises I will need to do, plus activity restrictions for the next several months. Once I am all healed I should be good to go. And boy am I ready to go. I am going to need someone who is dog savvy. I can be very pig headed. I need someone who is going to remind what is right and wrong. But the good news is that I come with training classes to help. I have made great improvements during my time with Rover Rescue. It is recommended that I go to an adult only home. I am a medium energy dog. I do love to get out and go for walks. I do tend to pull on the leash, especially if I see something. Foster mom uses a gentle leader on me that works well. I can’t wait until I am healed and can explore more. I also love car rides so would make the perfect adventure buddy. I love running around the back yard when I don’t have these stupid leash restrictions. After I have been able to get out some of my energy I am happy snuggling and watching tv. I love to be on the couch, but right now foster mom says I have to lay on the floor because I can’t jump. Foster mom also recommends me earning my right to be invited up on the couch in my new home. I also love to play with my toys while my people are watching tv. Fetch and tug are my favorites! I get along with the two smaller dogs in the house, but can get crabby with other dogs when at adoption events. If there are other dogs in the house I will need slow introductions and would do best with a submissive friend. It would be best if I am in a house without cats or other small animals. I am crate trained and will go in for treats. I am not a fan of being left alone though so may sing you a song when you leave. I do quiet down eventually and do fine while foster mom is away. Right now I have to sleep downstairs and get very sad when the rest of my family is upstairs. Sometimes I sing my song at night or early in the morning. I would probably not be a good apartment dog. While Flynn Rider’s goal was to live on an island alone surrounded by enormous piles of money, mine is to find a person or people of my own. I am looking for someone to give me a chance that understands my quirks. Even though I need work foster mom thinks I will be an amazing friend when all is said and done. Let’s go chase some lanterns! If you would like to meet him, please call Annie at 815-685-0746. His adoption fee is $275. Adoption fee includes: - microchip - spay/neuter - age appropriate vaccinations: Bordetella, DH(L)PP, rabies - heartworm preventive & flea/tick preventive - deworming

Mookie is a beautiful 9-year-old Pit Mix, weighing just under 80lbs. She was in a foster home for a couple years before being transferred to our rescue. Mookie has been at WCHS for over 2.5 years waiting for a family to take her in.Mookie is sweet and playful with the people she knows and trusts. She needs slow introductions, but once she trusts you, she is madly in love! Mookie always keeps her kennel clean and enjoys playing with squeaky plush toys and snuggling in bed. She loves to go on walks with all her volunteer friends. She thinks she's a lap dog too, and it's hard to tell that sweet face no! Mookie's favorite outdoor activities include sunbathing and taking naps in the pool. Mookie has been diagnosed with arthritis and hypothyroidism. She is on meds for both and seems to be doing well! She is working on losing some weight to help with the arthritis, too. Mookie does prefer to be the only dog in the home. She isn't a fan of cats.Mookie is a wonderful dog who is deeply loved by shelter staff and volunteers. We hope her forever family will come soon!

Story
Queenie is a gorgeous, 4 year old, 65lb pit mix who is just a giant baby in disguise. She is full of energy and loves to play! She has no knowledge of personal space and just wants to be on top of you and in your face. She loves to greet you with her sweet face and wagging tail. She would make an excellent companion and cuddle buddy! Queenie has been at WCHS for over 2.5 years waiting for her forever family. The shelter staff adore Queenie. She is such a wonderful girl who has been overlooked for quite a while.Queenie can be a little timid at first, but once she meets you, she is a lovebug and a goofball! Her favorite toys are giant rope toys and hard chew bones. She loves to run in our fenced outdoor pens and enjoys a good walk with her favorite people. Queenie would do best in a home without other dogs or cats. She would do best with no young kids. For allergies, Queenie is on a fish-based sensitive skin and stomach diet. Story
Marlo is 3 years old and guessed to be a Saint Bernard/ Pit mix. This beautiful girl has been at WCHS for over 2 years. She's all muscle (weighing in around 75lbs) and goofy, loving eyes. While some might find her looks to be intimidating, this girl could not be sweeter. The shelter staff adore this girl and she gives just as much love in return. Not only is Marlo loving, she is very energetic and active. She loves walks and does great with her harness. She is a big fan of our fenced outdoor pens where she can run and play with toys. Speaking of toys, Marlo LOVES balls: tennis balls, basketball-sized balls, giant indestruct-a-balls. You name it, she's playing soccer with it. She does need some training with play time as she can get too excited when you go to grab the toy and will try to grab it at the same time as you. She will gently jump up onto you for love and to give kisses, too. Sometimes she'll even climb onto your lap to snuggle. Marlo needs an active and strong leader who can help her be her best! She is looking for a home without cats or young kids. She would do best without another dog. Are you looking for an active dog with lots of love to give? Marlo would love to come home with you!
