Story
Seeley was found potentially hitchhiking on US 40 and brought to our shelter. We estimate him to be 8 yrs old and he weighs around 54 pounds. Staff describe his energy and medium high so a household where children are 12 or older would work best for him. He's okay around female dogs and hasn't showed interest in cats. The one thing Seeley is known for is being strong. He's stayed in great shape while at our shelter.

Story
Clyde is a 70 pound sweetheart. He's a little shy at first but if you just give him a chance he will warm up to you and show you his true personality. He loves to play with toys. He listens to instructions very well, but needs an assertive instructor. He can be energetic and plays too rough to be placed with children under 12 years of age. He tends to be more gentle with women when it comes to toy behavior. He loves tennis balls and playing fetch! He is not a fan of cats, but previously lived with a female dog and may do okay with female dogs. Clyde needs a lot of space to run and is waiting to find his forever family!

Story
Squeak was left behind at the vet clinic by an owner who brought her in for injuries then never came back to get her.  Squeak is a boxer pitbull mix puppy who is super playful and would love room to run and play and burn off energy.   Here's hoping we can find her a forever home.Clay County Animal Rescue & Shelter is located at 375 Water Elm Lane, Flora, IL. Our phone number is 618-665-3005.  We are renovating our shelter so hours are by appointment only.  The typical adoption fee for dogs is $150.  It includes vaccination, deworming , spay/neuter, heartworm testing on dogs of age and microchipping, which is now mandatory by state law.  Some dogs we discount to as little as $50 due to sponsorship.  Some dogs we ask a higher adoption fee, which helps us recoup expenses on heartworm treatment on other dogs. All cats are spayed/neutered/vaccinated/flea treated/dewormed and microchipped prior to adoption.  Cat adoption fees range from $60-$100.  We spay/neuter/microchip/vaccinate and deworm all kittens and cats, prior to adoption.  Our shyer/less adoptable cats are classed as "barn cats" and are free with a completed/approved barn cat application, which can be found on our website. For updates on adoption events and more pics of pets available, go to our website, www.claycountyshelter.com or look for us on Facebook.   August 7, 2024, 12:15 am
