I am a big soft lug who wants a porch, a sofa, and a human who likes slow pats on the head. My energy is just right. I can hang out, go for a walk, sniff around the yard, then come inside and settle next to you. I walk well on a leash. I do not make things hard. I like being easy. I dont want any ruckus. I get along with male and female dogs. I am a gentleman until someone tries to boss me around. I do not start trouble, but I also do not let pushy dogs run the show. I usually get along best with female dogs. Having said that, I have a rescue buddy (male) here and we do great together. We move at the same pace. We enjoy the same simple things. So I guess, like you humans, it's if our personalities get along! People say I am the kind of dog who makes life feel calmer. I am not loud. I am not clingy. I am just present. Sit with me for two minutes and you will get it. I am the dog who leans into your leg and lets out a long breath. I make the world feel lighter. If you want a sweet older boy who loves porch time, couch time, and just being near you, I am your guy. I am ready for my home. Hi! My name is Jax, and I’m a 4 year boxer/pit mix who weighs 50 lbs. I’m super sweet and absolutely love being around people. I’m very much a cuddle bug (and think I’m a lap dog). I’ve also been very happy playing with other dogs. Cats have not been my favorite though. Walks are one of my favorite things and I walk well on a leash. I also love running around in the yard and playing fetch with tennis balls. They’re cool, but my absolute favorite are stuffies that squeak. I can entertain myself with them but also will beg to play tug of war. I’m also super smart and already know sit, lie down, stay, crate, right, come, and paw. I’m energetic and active but also settle fast and am happy to cuddle or sleep in my bed. Although, I have separation anxiety and get stressed when alone, so I would do best in a home where I’m not alone for too long. Sometimes, I let out a light growl when a door opens into the house or a room. It seems like I do it out of caution, but immediately relax once I know who it is. I tend to be a little more weary of men than women in that regard. I currently sleep in my bed next to my foster mom’s bed, but should do fine in a crate in the room as well. Meet Brutus 💙 Brutus is 5-6 years old and is a deeply affectionate, people-loving boy who thrives on closeness with his humans. He loves cuddling, being petted, and will happily sleep next to you at night. Wherever you go, Brutus is likely to follow — often carrying his favorite soothing toy in his mouth for comfort. Brutus knows basic commands and is fully housebroken, which makes settling into a new home much easier. He walks well on leash and does best wearing a harness, ideally a front-clip harness. He may pull a little and can bark when he sees people out on walks, but he recovers quickly and continues on. Brutus is not a fan of being confined away from his people. He will voluntarily rest in his crate when it’s open and his human is nearby, but being crated while left alone is stressful for him. He would do best in a home that understands this and is willing to help him gradually build confidence with alone time. With stability, routine, and love, Brutus truly shines. He is a cuddly, loyal companion who bonds deeply and brings a lot of joy to those around him.
