Story
“Alright, listen, I didn’t want to have to do this, but you leave me no choice. Here comes the smolder.” My name is Rider, as in Flynn Rider. No one can resist my smolder, so I plan to use that to find my new home. I am a 2 year old Boxer mix. Like Flynn Rider I am an orphan that had to do what I needed to survive. I am a bit rough around the edges, but with a bit of love I am working on that. I have had a bit of a rough start. I came into Rover Rescue with a knee injury. While waiting for surgery I ended up injuring my other knee. I have now under gone 2 surgeries to fix my knees. I am still recovering and have exercises I will need to do, plus activity restrictions for the next several months. Once I am all healed I should be good to go. And boy am I ready to go. I am going to need someone who is dog savvy. I can be very pig headed. I need someone who is going to remind what is right and wrong. But the good news is that I come with training classes to help. I have made great improvements during my time with Rover Rescue. It is recommended that I go to an adult only home. I am a medium energy dog. I do love to get out and go for walks. I do tend to pull on the leash, especially if I see something. Foster mom uses a gentle leader on me that works well. I can’t wait until I am healed and can explore more. I also love car rides so would make the perfect adventure buddy. I love running around the back yard when I don’t have these stupid leash restrictions. After I have been able to get out some of my energy I am happy snuggling and watching tv. I love to be on the couch, but right now foster mom says I have to lay on the floor because I can’t jump. Foster mom also recommends me earning my right to be invited up on the couch in my new home. I also love to play with my toys while my people are watching tv. Fetch and tug are my favorites! I get along with the two smaller dogs in the house, but can get crabby with other dogs when at adoption events. If there are other dogs in the house I will need slow introductions and would do best with a submissive friend. It would be best if I am in a house without cats or other small animals. I am crate trained and will go in for treats. I am not a fan of being left alone though so may sing you a song when you leave. I do quiet down eventually and do fine while foster mom is away. Right now I have to sleep downstairs and get very sad when the rest of my family is upstairs. Sometimes I sing my song at night or early in the morning. I would probably not be a good apartment dog. While Flynn Rider’s goal was to live on an island alone surrounded by enormous piles of money, mine is to find a person or people of my own. I am looking for someone to give me a chance that understands my quirks. Even though I need work foster mom thinks I will be an amazing friend when all is said and done. Let’s go chase some lanterns! If you would like to meet him, please call Annie at 815-685-0746. His adoption fee is $225. Adoption fee includes: - microchip - spay/neuter - age appropriate vaccinations: Bordetella, DH(L)PP, rabies - heartworm preventive & flea/tick preventive

Story
Abel is a tall 2 year old boxer mix, with long soft ears. He has gotten along well with both of our other foster dogs and with a friend’s dog who we dog-sat over Thanksgiving weekend. However, he has started to bark at other dogs that we encounter on our daily walks. Other than that, he has pretty good leash manners, often walking with slack in the leash. He does stop to watch the squirrels and sometimes tries to climb up after them. Abel loves and wants to meet every human that he encounters. He cuddles on the couch with us, lays his head in our lap, and has us pet him all over. Sometimes he rolls over and raises both of his front paws sky-high to request a belly rub. Abel is crate trained and goes into his crate on command practically every night. Abel is housebroken, but has had about three urinary accidents while we’ve been learning his tells to go outside. He is altered and up to date on shots. If you would like to meet Abel, please call Teri at 630-897-7454. The adoption fee is $225. Adoption fee includes: - microchip - spay/neuter - age appropriate vaccinations: Bordetella, DH(L)PP, rabies - heartworm preventive & flea/tick preventive

Story
Tony is such a lover, we think boxer/hound mix.  He and his siblings were dumped in front of someone's house with their mother and unfortunately his mother and one sibling were hit by a car before the homeowner even knew about it and they didn't make it.  He loves to play with his siblings and is constantly running around and playing chase or keep away.  He does really love to snuggle too though.  Like most puppies he is full of energy unless he is napping.  He has puppy manners too so will need some training, while he has had some progress, he still needs work on house breaking, and basic commands.  He is great with other dogs, but hasn't met a cat, and seems fine with kids.  He is fixed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $600 To adopt Tony, email us at kakf3133@gmail.comNovember 25, 2024, 9:56 pm

Story
🐶 Cherrybelle 🐶 2-3 yrs old Pittie mix 55lbs Do over! You know when you find yourself in a messy situation and you just really need a reset button? That's where I am! I had a rough beginning without all the love I now know that I deserve. Can you relate? Now, with the help of an amazing rescue team and my foster family I've had some time to work on me and get the care and love I needed. I'm getting my Do Over! I had heartworm, got treatment, beat it! I had cherry-eye, got surgery, no more eye problems! I was very underweight, I've been eating well with extra treats! I now have a strong and healthy body with a beautiful coat. I didn't even know how to doggo! Now I know how to play with toys and run the yard with my doggo friends. I may have even rolled in the mud a couple times heh... not gonna lie, it was messy but fun! I am house broken and crate trained. I don't LOVE my crate but I do well with it. I eat in there so I don't have to worry about the other dogs trying to steal my food and I also stay in there when my people are gone and when it's bedtime. I have a lot of pup brothers and sisters here and sometimes I get territorial and pushy, I've improved my manners a lot since living here though. I love playing with my pup friends but I also love my people! Couch cuddles, playing and a good ear massage, ? it! It's going to be a good life now, I can feel it in my waggy tail! Do you think we could be besties? Come meet me and let's find out! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 Our standard adoption fee is $375 cash or check and $385 credit card ($10 processing fee). . Story
Meet Guppy! Hello! They call my Guppy, or Gup-Gup - and I can answer to both. I am VERY smart. I am also very special. I am a blind, two year old mixed breed dog. I was picked up as a stray and found a very special foster family who has been teaching me about being a dog. It takes me awhile to get to know my surroundings and build trusting relationships, but once I do I am very loyal and playful. I love to sniff out my toys in the yard and leap around. Leash training is very helpful and important so that I know where it is safe for me to go. I do like to explore a bit too once I get comfortable. I love to be pet, and I give very big hugs and kisses. I do not know my own strength - at least that is what I hear. I do things with great confidence and need someone who will help keep me safe and guide me. I am crate trained and very quiet when in the crate. I love to be with you and I do not pick things up or chew without permission. I hear “not yours” and “that’s moms”, so I better stop. My foster family and their neighbors talk to me a lot so that I can get used to them and know where they are. As you can imagine, things can surprise me and I do not really like surprises. I also HATE water. I will drink my water and am getting used to my bowl being filled, but I do not like the washing machine, dishwasher, hoses - and forget about a bath. That didn’t go so well the first time. It may take a bit. Because I'm blind, I can get startled when life moves too fast. I would do best with older children that don't race around the house and understand that I can't see. I am very sweet and will be a great family dog. Our standard adoption fee is $375 cash or check and $385 credit card ($10 processing fee). . Story
Meet Fletcher! 🐾 Fletcher is a sweet and cuddly 1-year-old Pit mix (born 4/4/2023) weighing 64 pounds. He’s the perfect shadow companion, happily following you around or curling up for a cozy nap. Fully potty trained, Fletcher hasn’t had a single accident at his foster home and is also crate-trained—though he appreciates a little treat incentive to go in. Fletcher’s heart is as big as his paws! He’s amazing with people of all ages and sizes and is gentle and curious around other animals. While he hasn’t had many encounters with dogs or cats, slow introductions have brought out his good-boy behavior. He’s even lived with small critters in cages and leaves them completely undisturbed. When it’s playtime, Fletcher loves his toys (but fetch isn’t really his thing—“My name is Fletcher, not FETCHer!”). He adores running zoomies in his fenced yard but stays calm and collected inside. He’s a chewer, but with enough enrichment and toys, he sticks to his playthings. Fletcher has a scar on his back left leg that occasionally causes a slight limp, but a vet has confirmed there’s nothing to worry about. This resilient pup is also incredibly tolerant—his ears, paws, tail, teeth, and belly are all fair game for gentle handling. Remarkably, Fletcher has yet to bark at all in his foster home! He’s a little skittish with loud noises but seeks comfort from his people or retreats to his bed when startled. Ready to welcome Fletcher’s loving, playful, and gentle energy into your home? He’s eager to find his forever family! 💕 Our standard adoption fee is $375 cash or check and $385 credit card ($10 processing fee). .
