Story
This pint size little guy is looking for furever. Victor is a 1-2 year old Boxer/Bulldog mix. He currently weighs about 35 pounds but we expect him to gain a bit more weight as he came in very skinny. His ears haven’t quite decided what they want to do but we think that adds to his charm. Victor gets along with some dogs but we will require a meet and greet with potential dog siblings. We are unsure of how he does with cats. We believe older kids would be best for him. If interested in adopting this sweet boy please fill out our adoption application located on our page. Victor will come up to date on vaccinations, neutered, microchipped and heartworm tested.

Story
Squeak was left behind at the vet clinic by an owner who brought her in for injuries then never came back to get her.  Squeak is a boxer pitbull mix puppy who is super playful and would love room to run and play and burn off energy.   Here's hoping we can find her a forever home.Clay County Animal Rescue & Shelter is located at 375 Water Elm Lane, Flora, IL. Our phone number is 618-665-3005.  We are renovating our shelter so hours are by appointment only.  The typical adoption fee for dogs is $150.  It includes vaccination, deworming , spay/neuter, heartworm testing on dogs of age and microchipping, which is now mandatory by state law.  Some dogs we discount to as little as $50 due to sponsorship.  Some dogs we ask a higher adoption fee, which helps us recoup expenses on heartworm treatment on other dogs. All cats are spayed/neutered/vaccinated/flea treated/dewormed and microchipped prior to adoption.  Cat adoption fees range from $60-$100.  We spay/neuter/microchip/vaccinate and deworm all kittens and cats, prior to adoption.  Our shyer/less adoptable cats are classed as "barn cats" and are free with a completed/approved barn cat application, which can be found on our website. For updates on adoption events and more pics of pets available, go to our website, www.claycountyshelter.com or look for us on Facebook.   August 7, 2024, 12:15 am

Story
Meesha is anxiously awaiting for her Christmas miracle of a furever home. Meesha is a petite girl with a big attitude. She is a year pittie mix weighing around 35lbs. She is a sweet girl who zooms around the office trying to soak up all the love she can get. She likes to play with toys and loves treats. She has been going on walks with our volunteer dog walkers to learn how to properly walk on a leash and learn some leash manners. Meesha needs a patient owner who can work with her through her quirks and give her the love & patience she deserves. She does ok with some other dogs (her size or larger) but needs a home with no children or cats. Her adoption fee is $130. To apply fill out our adoption application.
