We do not have much history on Addison, so she would love a furever human who is willing to be patient with her and take the time to learn her home behavior and not introduce too much to her too fast. What we have learned so far about Addison here in the shelter is that she is a super loving pup. Se can be shy at first but when you let her come to you and she feels comfortable she just wants LOTS of pets, scratches and hugs. Eggleston Adoptions are walk-in 12-6 daily at 2741 S. Western Ave. Chicago, IL The building is open 12-7 daily and adoptions end one hour before closing. All visitors 18 and older must have a government issued ID. All household members should be present to meet dogs (especially those under 18 and any decision-makers). We recommend and can arrange dog to dog meet and greets for your current dog to meet a potential dog sibling at the shelter. You will need to show proof of up to date rabies vaccination for your dog or dogs. Slow, cautious, and appropriate introductions are recommended after you allow time for decompression for the shelter dog.

Comet is a fun, loving, sweet, extremely friendly and playful, six-year-old, 70-pound, male black and white Husky/Boxer-mix with striking blue eyes looking for a loving guardian. He is full of kisses and tail wags for everyone he meets. He is perfectly housebroken, and well-behaved in the home. He’s happy to go for walks and runs and snuggle on the couch, in your bed, or in his dog bed. He is fantastic in the car and loves to hop in and go for a ride. He’s fine sitting quietly in the back seat and great during a dog bath. He does have the voice of a husky with the howl/whine at times. He is well-trained and knows all his commands. Comet is healthy, neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, heartworm-tested and on preventative, and microchipped. Prior to his rescue, he was attacked by another dog who bit off a chunk of his left ear. He is wonderful with other dogs, however we’ve never seen him with a cat. They call me Exuberant, Handsome and Sweet but you can choose a new name for me when we adopt each other. I don’t care what you call me, as long as you call me. I’m a happy dog who loves people more than anything else in the world. I’m a 4+ year old mix, with a 22” collar and am very big and strong. The Vet said I weigh 73 pounds. Don’t let that scare you because I am just a mushy ball of love. I like to let everyone know how happy I am to see them by twirling around and wagging my tail as fast as it will go. This is usually when they call me Exuberant. I like to have fun. I’m such a good boy and I have good potty manners. I prefer being inside with people at night especially. Since I have a lot of energy and need exercise, your large fenced yard will be well-used. My foster peeps say I need a family, not a job. They know that I’m a quick learner and will be someone’s best dog ever. Because I’m big and young at heart, my new humans should have some experience with dogs and be able to work with someone of my stature. I promise I will try to do everything you ask enthusiastically. I don’t like loud booming noises (fireworks or dynamite) or gunfire but neither do most of my friends. Health wise, I am terrific; up to date on shots and tested negative for heartworms.
