She’s the kind of dog who makes everyone feel special, eagerly approaching with a wagging tail and her signature look that says, “You’re my favorite person.” Lou enjoys life’s simple pleasures—leisurely walks, basking in sunny spots, and, most of all, cuddling up close with her people. She’s a calm and friendly companion, making her a perfect fit for someone looking for an easygoing addition to their home. Lou’s story began at a racetrack, where she was found in need of a little TLC. Her sweet, trusting nature made it clear that she deserved a second chance, and she’s been thriving ever since. Now, with a full belly and plenty of love, Lou is ready to find her forever home. She has one special request: she prefers to be the only dog in the house. Lou isn’t a fan of sharing her space with other pups and would much rather devote all her love and attention to her humans. If you’re searching for a devoted, sun-loving, and endlessly affectionate companion, Lou Lou is ready to be your one and only. Her warmth, loyalty, and love will make her the perfect addition to a family who’s ready to give her the life she’s always deserved. Story
Lucy had a hard life, and has the scars to show it. She was picked up from animal control and spent some time in doggie jail. She was lucky to cross the path of a kind person to get her out and got her vetting done. Heart worm treatment was done so she came into foster care. She is now looking for the perfect home to call her very own. Lucy is a bundle of energy. So a fenced yard would be great for her. A family that can take her on outdoor adventures would make this girl happy. She will need some training in manners, she likes to jump up & doesn't realize how big she is. She loves her stuffies and has not torn a one up. She gets along very well with all the dogs in foster care, little ones & big ones. She takes cues from them very well and doesn't push her luck when they say nope don't want to play. A buddy would be great for her that has the play power as her. She would love to find her forever home and putting her old life behind her. Lucy is spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. This dog has tested posfor heartworms. The adoption fee is $450 if your adoption is prepaid and final prior to your dog's arrival. An additional $50 will be charged on dogs that are picked up from our Southbury CT adoption center, adopted at an event, or foster home. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with CT HB 5368. WANT TO MEET OUR DOGS IN PERSON? Check the Events tab on cprdogs.com for all weekend adoption event info. The majority of the dogs marked as 'meet me' will be there to see you! If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at our Woburn MA isolation facility. Your new family member will be dropped off by our transport on Thursday and will be ready for you to pick him/her up on Saturday between 11 am-1 pm. An additional $100 fee will be added for any dogs picked up from the Woburn MA quarantine facility. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with MA Order 405-CD-12 and Order 1-AHO-05. TO APPLY PLEASE GO TO www.cprdogs.com. If your application was successfully submitted you will get a confirmation. Please DO NOT USE the ADOPTAPET "CONTACT THIS RESCUE GROUP" form below or you may not hear from us as these often end up in spam or bouncing back. Story
Meet Lottie - an adorable female dog with a heart of gold and an abundance of love to give. This gentle and friendly pup is full of affection, and she's sure to win over your heart with her playful antics and goofy personality. Car riding is high on her list of likes, as is meandering along on a sniff walk. Lottie loves spending time outdoors and is always up for a game of fetch or an adventure in the park. She is particularly fond of water and will eagerly splash around in any nearby pond or pool. One of the sweetest traits about Lottie is her calm and gentle nature, making her an ideal companion for those seeking a peaceful and low-maintenance furry friend. Whether she is emptying the toy box of treasures or using her massive head/ nose to crazily roll a ball around the yard, Lottie is a master of self-entertainment Lottie is crate-trained and housebroken or she can be trusted to be left out unattended all day long in the house. If you are looking for a four-legged friend who will bring laughter and joy to your life, Lottie is the perfect match for you. Don't let this special girl pass you by - apply to adopt Lottie today and open your heart to unconditional love and endless cuddles! During Lottie's spay appointment, the vet noticed a slight limp in her front right leg. An X-ray revealed a bullet causing secondary arthritis. The vet advised against removing the bullet and also said that Lottie would need a daily anti-inflammatory for the rest of her life. Lottie doesn't let her arthritis stop her. She loves to run and play. We think it might be one of the reasons she loves the water. Visit our website to see our weekend Events here! Pups with the designated “meet me” next to their names are in CT and ready to attend adoption events. Story
Dazzle Hallow, isn’t she stunning?! She is a beautiful grey hippo with a great of gold, an easy smile and the best snores. Dazzle came into rescue very pregnant and had 4 beautiful pups who have found their homes, now it’s her turn. Dazzle loves everyone she meets and will lean into you for extra snuggles or back scratches. Her foster says she loves to lay in the sun and enjoy the day, it would be even better with a person or family to call her own. She was an amazing mom and now it’s her turn. She has blossomed into an outgoing, funny silly Velcro dog. She does great with other dogs (although she is not a fan of rough play). Dazzle adores children and will follow them wherever they go. She would love nothing more than to have a home where she can lean in, put her head on your lap and fall asleep. She will be an amazing addition to your home. Her foster mom says she’s the best dog she’s ever fostered, just so sweet and happy. Dazzle Halloween is spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. All dogs 6 month + receive a Proheart 6 injection at the time of their heartworm test. This provides heartworm prevention for 6 months from the time of that injection. This dog has tested ****** for heartworms. The adoption fee is $450 if your adoption is prepaid and final prior to your dog's arrival. An additional $50 will be charged on dogs that are picked up from our Southbury CT adoption center, adopted at an event, or foster home. Story
Robyn Is spayed/neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, treated for all of the intestinal parasites, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. Because intestinal parasites are cyclical, your puppy may need additional treatment once you get him/her home. This is common and nothing to be alarmed about. Puppies and dogs need to be treated periodically for parasites throughout their entire lives. Visit our website to see our weekend Events here! Pups with the designated “meet me” next to their names are in CT and ready to attend adoption events. The adoption fee is $600 which includes spay/neuter, up to date vaccinations, flea/tick and heartworm preventatives, and the mandatory CT HB 5368 fee. More and more of our adopters are having fun with DNA tests on their pups. You might ask yourself why our breed guess is varying degrees of difference from the DNA tests. Most of our puppies are rescued from high kill shelters or other abandonment situations and we have no info on parents. When we rescue puppies that have no background info, we make our very best educated guess as to breed mix and age. Our guesstimate comes from years and years and years of animal welfare work and training, but our guesses won't always agree with your vet, your neighbor, your DNA test, etc. The most important thing to know about your puppy's breed mix is that most likely he/she is a Super Lovable Mutt made of many many many different breeds. If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at the Woburn MA isolation facility. Story
Meet Dillon. He's a sweet and energetic 3 year old pitbull mix at around 68 lbs. He absolutely loves love and is a huge cuddle bug. In the time we have had him, he has never known a stranger and wants scratches from every person he meets. He loves any chew toy he can get and will chase any ball you throw though he doesn't quite understand the concept of fetching yet. He is still working on his manners but is very quick to please. We think he would be happiest as a solo dog mainly because he wants all of your attention and love. Story
https://www.facebook.com/truelovingcompanion/ Letters from Cyiah: I rescued a human today. Her eyes met mine as she walked down the corridor, worriedly looking into the kennels. I instantly felt her need and knew I had to help her. As she stopped at my kennel I moved to the front, leaned my shoulder forward and gave a little wag. I will admit, it was hard to be brave in the shelter environment. I didn’t want her to see, but I did tremble a bit. As she read my kennel card, I hoped that she wouldn't feel sad about my past as I have a bright future ahead. She got down on her knees and began to speak to me. I wanted to say it was going to be okay but instead I got closer and leaned my head against the cage bars to comfort her. Her gentle fingers caressed my neck, her eyes filled with tears, and then came the moment; she smiled at me. I promised to keep her safe, to do everything I could to see that sweet smile, and sparkle in her eyes again. ********************************************************************************************* I’m in a foster home now. I’m bathed, settled and fed, and tucked warmly in my new bed. I should begin to unpack my baggage, lest I forget. There has been so much to carry, so much regret. Let’s start at the top, where I’ll first unpack Loneliness, Heartache, and Loss. There by my leash hides Fear and Shame and I still have to unpack my baggage called Pain. I loved them so much, the family I once had, the ones who left me with nothing but my bag. Can you help me unpack please? I pray that you can, for I’m so tired you see, but I do come with baggage, will you still want me? ********************************************************************************************* Sadly, Cyiah’s history is a mystery, as she was brought into the shelter as a stray. She captured the attention of one of our representatives while she was there, which is how she became to be in our rescue. She’s in a foster home now where she’s doing amazing. She is housebroken, crate-trained, playful and sweet and does the best cheese smile you will ever see. Though social with people and dogs, she does take time to warm up. She will need a special family that will be understanding, loving and patient, that will give her the time she needs to unpack her baggage!
