Story
Meet North Star! Named for this guiding light because she was the first born! At 4 weeks old she weighed 5.2lbs She can be described as mellow, gentle-mouthed, eager, and explorative. In a few weeks, each puppy will need a loving planet to call home. We are encouraging foster-to-adopt arrangements and sending them off in pairs. 🌠🌠 It sounds crazy but two puppies are easier than one. We need loving foster homes for these stars to socialize, habituate, and learn how to shine. We’ve gotten questions about their breed. It’s hard to say at this time. What we do know is they have an incredibly sweet, and petite mama, who’s quite a mix. For now we’re we’re going with our favorite breed: RESCUED! We have a DNA test that’s been sent off to the lab, we’ll share the results as soon as we have them. Mama Indy is a petite Boxer looking mix. She weighs 35lbs. has a very sweet disposition, is a quick learner, gets along with other dogs, and doesn’t have any health issues that we know of. If you’re interested in sharing your life with one of these bundles of light, please fill out a foster or adoption application. They’ll be ready to launch into new homes sometime after their 6 week birthday and first round of puppy vaccines on April 27th. All puppies will be provided their first and second round of puppy vaccines. Four rounds of dewormer. A microchip with lifetime enrollment – no pesky annual fees. Spay/Neuter procedures as well as rabies vaccines and their third round of puppy shots to be set up and scheduled with adopters. MFDM.org

Story
I'm a sweet girl. No one knows my history, but I already knew how to sit when I was found, so someone loved me I need to find that again! Are you my person? If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2204969##

Story
I’m Walnut, a 1 year old male Boxer mix. I am a very happy-go-lucky boy, who does great with cats and most other dogs. My foster says I’m picking up my obedience cues (Sit, Shake, Stay-Good job Walnut), perfect on bathroom breaks (even in snow), go out before bed and upon awakening, sleep through the night, very cuddly, prefer my head in your lap on the couch, pretty good on walks so far, anxious when left alone so may be best for a family that’s home with me more often than not. ********PLEASE READ BELOW PRIOR TO EMAILING IN**********If you are interested in adopting this dog or any other from our rescue, please go to https://www.hobocare.org/adopt to review our home requirements and fill out an application. Story
I’m Jet, a 4 year old male Boxer mix. I am a very sweet boy and do well with other dogs.  My ideal home would have another dog and a family who enjoys spending time with me. My foster adds: Jet is such a sweetheart, great with our dog, working to learn basic commands, will rush the door to get outside, a big goof, full of love, does NOT want to be outside in the cold for more than a quick potty break, gentle with the kiddos, seeks petting without prompt, will chew on bones or do puzzle feeders with someone otherwise no interest when alone, walks well on leash tho may try to graze, sleeps at night alone, needs kennel training, will follow like a shadow, a pretty stellar dog with a heart of pure gold. ********PLEASE READ BELOW PRIOR TO EMAILING IN**********If you are interested in adopting this dog or any other from our rescue, please go to https://www.hobocare.org/adopt to review our home requirements and fill out an application. Story
Torchy is a courtesy posting and not an Animal Rescue of the Rockies dog. But his foster asks that all interested individuals fill out our  adoption application .   Meet Torchy – A Sweet, Silly 5-Year-Old Who’s Ready to Steal Your Heart! At 5 years old and 45 pounds, Torchy is a lovable bundle of joy with a heart full of affection and energy to spare! Once he settles in and feels safe with his humans, he opens up in the most endearing ways – expect plenty of licks, cuddles, snuggles, and playful antics. Torchy's zest for life includes his love for engaging with other dogs (sometimes a little too exuberantly!), making friends wherever he goes. Torchy’s favorite time of day? Walks, hands down! He can’t wait to hit the pavement and explore the world, tail wagging with excitement. He’s also a big fan of toys, especially Nylabones, soft plush toys, and his ultimate favorite – his wobble Kong. You’ll love watching him go into full-on “boxing mode” as he plays! When he’s not being silly and energetic, Torchy loves to show off his belly (all four paws in the air!) as an open invitation for belly rubs. Trust us, he adores them. Torchy is not only playful and fun, but he’s also smart as a whip! He’s mastered basic commands like “come,” “sit,” “down,” “stay,” “off,” “no,” “touch,” and “leave it” and is highly motivated by love, food (he’s a foodie!), and toys. He even accepts treats, like his favorite Charlie Bear biscuits, with perfect manners. This handsome boy is crate-trained, leash-trained, and housebroken. He’s also completed a 4-week obedience training program with the American Canine Academy, and adopters will enjoy free lifetime training support from them. Torchy is a quick learner and thrives with structure, so he’ll do best with an experienced adopter who can be his loving “pack leader” and continue his training. With the right guidance and mental/physical stimulation, Torchy will be your forever companion, ready for a lifetime of love and adventures. If you're looking for a dog who will fill your home with joy, energy, and endless love, Torchy is the one for you!March 4, 2025, 1:40 pm

Story
Cyan is a rescue my daughter got from her friend. He was malnourished and had been beaten. When he frist arrived he was very scared would not allow us to pet him. He has since become apart of the family is a ball of joy and has a ton of personality. My youngest son is autistic and is not very friendly to him. We want him to have a loving home and a place to call home.
