Story
Bursting with puppy-like energy and joy, 5.5-year-old Pete is thriving in his foster home! This 55-pound brindle beauty is as sweet as he is social, showering his foster parents with affection. He loves snuggling up close, “smushing” his face into theirs, resting his head on them during couch time, and rolling over for belly rubs. Pete’s favorite lounging position is on his tummy with his back legs stretched out behind him – an absolutely adorable sight! His foster dad calls him a “canine security blanket” because Pete leans his full weight into you when cuddling. Agile, athletic, and endlessly playful, Pete thrives on romping with dogs of all sizes. He’s a master at reading canine cues and respecting boundaries when a playmate isn’t in the mood for fun. A lover of squeaky toys—especially his beloved Kong—Pete also shines on leash and enjoys long walks to channel his joyful energy. Smart, eager to please, and highly motivated by food, toys, and love, Pete is a quick learner. He already knows “sit” and “no,” comes when called, and is working on perfecting his manners. He’s crate-trained, almost fully house-trained, and thrives with positive reinforcement. As a bonus, this big-hearted boy isn’t just great with dogs—he’s fantastic with cats too! Pete’s dream home includes a yard to play in and a family dedicated to continuing his training while keeping him active and cherished. He’d be especially thrilled to have a playful canine sibling to share in the fun. If you’re looking for an affectionate, energetic companion, Pete is ready to be your forever snuggle buddy! Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure each pet finds the best possible home, we ask that you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application received in the order they're submitted and will contact you within 48 hours (please check your spam folder for our emails). If your home sounds like a good match for you and the pet, we will connect you with our dogs' foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a "meet and greet" is set up. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to finalize the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives! A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you. The adoption fee for this pet is $375. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all DAPP boosters after adoption. Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for any rabies vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email dogs@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can't accept calls at this time. PLEASE NOTE: The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter. Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets. Here is some interesting info on breed identification: https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/ Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online. We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2.
