Story
Bursting with puppy-like energy and joy, 5.5-year-old Pete is thriving in his foster home! This 55-pound brindle beauty is as sweet as he is social, showering his foster parents with affection. He loves snuggling up close, “smushing” his face into theirs, resting his head on them during couch time, and rolling over for belly rubs. Pete’s favorite lounging position is on his tummy with his back legs stretched out behind him – an absolutely adorable sight! His foster dad calls him a “canine security blanket” because Pete leans his full weight into you when cuddling. Agile, athletic, and endlessly playful, Pete thrives on romping with dogs of all sizes. He’s a master at reading canine cues and respecting boundaries when a playmate isn’t in the mood for fun. A lover of squeaky toys—especially his beloved Kong—Pete also shines on leash and enjoys long walks to channel his joyful energy. Smart, eager to please, and highly motivated by food, toys, and love, Pete is a quick learner. He already knows “sit” and “no,” comes when called, and is working on perfecting his manners. He’s crate-trained, almost fully house-trained, and thrives with positive reinforcement.  As a bonus, this big-hearted boy isn’t just great with dogs—he’s fantastic with cats too! Pete’s dream home includes a yard to play in and a family dedicated to continuing his training while keeping him active and cherished. He’d be especially thrilled to have a playful canine sibling to share in the fun. If you’re looking for an affectionate, energetic companion, Pete is ready to be your forever snuggle buddy!   Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure each pet finds the best possible home, we ask that you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application received in the order they're submitted and will contact you within 48 hours (please check your spam folder for our emails). If your home sounds like a good match for you and the pet, we will connect you with our dogs' foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a "meet and greet" is set up. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to finalize the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $375.  Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all DAPP boosters after adoption. Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for any rabies vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking  here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email dogs@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can't accept calls at this time. PLEASE NOTE:  The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter.  Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets.  Here is some interesting info on breed identification:  https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/ Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online.  We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting.  Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member! Story
Meet Jupiter, a joyful male boxer mix with a personality as vibrant as his name! This happy and wiggly boy loves people and can’t help but express his excitement—though he sometimes lacks a bit of manners and may jump for joy when meeting new friends. Jupiter is eager to learn and would greatly benefit from some training to refine his skills. Luckily, he’s super food motivated, which makes teaching him new tricks a breeze! He already knows how to `sit` and `shake` on cue, and with a little guidance, he’ll be a well-mannered companion in no time. If you’re looking for a playful pup with endless enthusiasm, Jupiter is ready to bring joy and laughter to your home!

Story
Hello, I'm Sissie. I've been passed around a bit and unfortunetly this isn't my first time here at PCHS. I was adopted when I was a young pup but somehow ended up on the streets with no place to call home. I'm shy to new people but warm up with some treats. Once we're friends, I'm the sweetest girl. Can you be my patient friend? If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##659584##

Story
Hi, my name is Rockwell! I am a 6 year old Lab/Boxer mix. Whew! Glad I got that introduction out of the way. I can be a bit shy when introducing myself, but I always make fast friends with nice people. Any chance you're a nice person looking for a new best friend? Bonus points if you're a shy, nice person. We could bond over our similarities! We could also bond over one of the best things known to dog-kind... belly rubs! Fun fact: belly rubs are great for the dog (of course!) but also boost the mood of the human giving them. What a miracle! I'm a smart boy, so I make a point of knowing these kinds of things. Speaking of being smart, I love keeping my brain busy by playing puzzles and learning new tricks. I'm also smart enough to have great house manners which, naturally, means I am potty trained. In addition to mental exercise, I love to stay fit by running and rolling (you might think of it as "ROCKing and rolling!) around the yard, going for walks (I love walks!) and playing with my personal favorite invention of all time, tennis balls!    One of my favorite things (aside from those amazing belly rubs) is cuddling. Since summer is almost over in Colorado, wouldn't it be great to have a snuggle buddy during the upcoming cold weather months? I've been told I'm a fantastic cuddler- you could even call me a cuddle bug! More than anything, I'm an overall great companion and absolutely adore being with my people. When I'm not cuddling with my people or playing brain games, you can often find me relaxing in my crate. Car rides are a blast for me, so if you enjoy the open roads, we'd make a great pair! Please apply to meet me at hobocare.org! I’m Princess , a 9 year old female Boxer.  I may be royalty, but I’m friendly to all my subjects! I am the sweetest girl, and good with dogs and cats. My family is moving and can’t take me, so now I’m a Ho-Bo, and looking for my fur-ever family. My foster Mom says: I’m getting along with my Boston Terrier fur-sibling, potty trained, gentle taking treats, know basic obedience cues, love neck scratches and cuddling in my hooman’s lap, I can be chill and nap in the kitchen, I sleep quietly all night in my crate, and I make an excellent work-from-home office assistant! ********PLEASE READ BELOW PRIOR TO EMAILING IN**********If you are interested in adopting this dog or any other from our rescue, please go to https://www.hobocare.org/adopt to review our home requirements and fill out an application. Hi, I'm Nala! I'm a 4 year old boxer mix and am just the happiest, wiggliest girl around. I am great with cats, but prefer to be the only dog in my home. I love to go on walks and am working on my leash and basic obedience skills in my foster home - and my foster mom says I'm making great progress! I am playful but also like my couch time - especially when I can curl up in a lap. It's great hanging out with my people, but I can also handle being on my own without being stressed out. ********PLEASE READ BELOW PRIOR TO EMAILING IN**********If you are interested in adopting this dog or any other from our rescue, please go to https://www.hobocare.org/adopt to review our home requirements and fill out an application. Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Four-year-old Torchy has touched his fosters’ hearts with his sweet and silly ways. Once the 45-pound white beauty felt comfortable in their company, he opened his own heart, and now he LOVES licking them, cuddling and snuggling, and playing with them. He also loves engaging, often too exuberantly, with other dogs. Torchy LOVES going for walks - they're the absolute highlight of his day! He enjoys chewing on Nylabones and playing with soft, plushy toys, but what he loves most is his wobble Kong, giddily getting into boxing matches with it! Known to prance around the house and strut when he walks, he’s equally famous for lying on his back with his legs in the air, as an open invitation for belly rubs, paw-lease. Motivated by love, toys and food (he’s passionate about people food), highly intelligent and easy to teach, he knows “come”, “sit”, “down”, “stay”, “off”, “no”, “touch” and “leave it”, accepts his favorite Charlie Bear biscuit treats gently and loves relaxing inside his crate with the door open. He's leash- and house-trained. Torchy has graduated from a 4-week board and training obedience program through American Canine Academy. They offer free lifetime training support to adopters. For Torchy to thrive, he requires a strong but loving “pack leader” to continue his training, and keep him mentally and physically satisfied fur-ever.   Torchy is a courtesy posting and not an Animal Rescue of the Rockies dog. But his foster asks that all interested individuals fill out our adoption application.November 6, 2024, 12:43 pm

Story
Meet Tula, aka Tula Jane! Tula was rescued off the streets as a tiny puppy nearly one year ago and has been well loved and cared for ever since . She is perfectly house trained and is socialized but always cautious with new comers, having spent a lot of time around different people and dogs . She loves to be near her family and gets especially enthusiastic about riding in the car if she is told she is going to see the vet (not kidding) or going to daycare!  Her DNA profile revealed she is a mix of a few different breeds: American bulldog, German shepherd, American pit bull terrier, miniature Australian shepherd, and American staffordshire terrier. She is a very smart girl, quite a beauty and has a smile bigger than the state of Oklahoma where she currently resides!  She knows commands "sit" and "down" and "spin" so far and can certainly learn more! She has lots of energy and LOVES to play with all of her toys. An ideal day in Tula’s eyes would include lots of time outside with her family. She loves to play and has a passion for gathering sticks while out on walks and has fun playing by the creek. When home she will either snuggle on the couch, put her head by yours to remind you she is there if you are watching TV and is known to shadow her people throughout the house. When it is time to rest, she is happy to nap with her own blanket. She is a very well behaved dog, is spayed and up to date on her vaccines and is a health nut, loving to snack on veggies; carrots are her current favorite! Would you be interested in giving Tula the forever home that she is so deserving of and in need of at this time? Please contact Chris if you have any questions or need more information. We are happy to bring Tula Jane to you if you are her perfect forever home!   (713) 480 8473 clzenner1@gmail.com      This dog is a courtesy listing and not one of our dogs.
