Story
Meet Aurora aka Aurie! Aurie is a chonky Chihuahua mix, approximately four-years-old. She originally came to the shelter with multiple other dogs, as part of a hoarding case. She was adopted back in 2020 and returned recently due to health issues of her adopter. Aurie is shy and avoidant with people, and will dart away when you try to pet her, although she does take treats from your hand once she knows you. Aurie will do best in a home with no small children and a secure yard/home that she cannot escape from. We are open to Aurie being adopted, or going to a foster home to help work on her socialization. Aurie enjoys the company of other dogs and should go to a home with at least one other dog, to help her adjust to her new environment. Other than being nervous around people, she is a happy little gal who enjoys sunbathing in the yard, treat time, and socializing with other dogs. Aurie is looking for a family that will be patient with her and not expect too much, too fast. If you would like to help a scared rescue dog and think Aurie might be a fit for your lifestyle, send us an email to chitownrescue@gmail.com.May 16, 2025, 3:56 am

Story
“Hi there… my name’s Honey. And yep, I am just as sweet as I sound.” “I am a boxer-pitty mix with a heart as big as my goofy smile. I have been through a lot—found wandering the streets of Yuma, no collar, no one came looking. But I have not given up on people. Not even close.” “Right now, I’m staying with the kind folks at Central Arizona Animal Rescue in Phoenix. They have been so good to me, but what I really want… is a home. A real one. With a couch I can curl up on, a human I can follow around, and maybe even a doggy sibling to play with.” “I get along great with other dogs, and I love just being near people. I might be a little shy at first—especially around gates or kennels. I think someone was not very nice to me before. But once I know I am safe? I will be your shadow, your snuggle buddy, your best friend.” “I have got all the important stuff taken care of—shots, spayed, microchipped. I am ready for adventures, even if I still pull a little on the leash. I just get excited, you know? No one has ever really taught me how to walk like a lady, but I am a quick learner if you’re patient.” “I’m not sure how I feel about cats yet, and I would do best with kids who understand I need a little time to warm up. But once I do? I will love you with everything I’ve got.” “So… if you’ve got a little space in your home—and a lot of love in your heart—maybe we’re meant to find each other.” My name’s Honey. And I’m waiting for you. PLEASE e-mail (do not call) mike@caaronline.org for more information and to set up an appointment to adopt. Do not e-mail us with a request to call you, if you have a question, please ask in the e-mail.   All dogs are adopted on a first come - first served basis.
