Someone brought her to the shelter dehydrated starved and pregnant where she couldn’t even stand . Unfortunately she lost all her babies and an emergency spay was performed so she could begin to heal. She was just so sick. Slowly she started to recover , gain weight and now she is an active loving girl that gets along with dogs and all people. She may have Frenchie , maybe Boston maybe some bulldog. Meet Lisa (aka Luna) – the shy sweetheart with a big heart Lisa, affectionately called Luna in her foster home, is a gentle Boston Terrier mix looking for a patient, loving family to help her continue blossoming. She was surrendered by a breeder and is experiencing, for the very first time, what it’s like to live in a safe, cozy home. Every day she’s learning that people can be kind, and she’s slowly coming out of her shell. Luna’s favorite things in the world are her heated blanket, a soft bed, and mealtime—she’s an enthusiastic eater and will never turn down a treat. While she’s still a timid girl, she now greets her foster family with a little tail wiggle, a curious sniff, or even a tiny lick. When she gets excited, her happy feet shuffle in a way that’s pure joy to watch! She’s becoming more playful and adores the company of kids and other dogs. Cats don’t faze her either. Luna is a very quiet girl, not a barker, and she loves to nap between moments of exploration. Because so much of the world is still new to her, Luna is still learning about potty training. She uses pee pads reliably and has started to make progress with going outside, though she can still be nervous. She’s not a fan of the crate, so a home where she can have a safe, comfy spot of her own will make her happiest. Not a good fit for young kids - okay in a home with respectful older teenagers".  Her Foster Parents Say: "Frankie is a very sweet, clever, well behaved adult female dog. She loves playing fetch and cozying up on the couch. She is potty trained, walks beautifully on a leash, and is without a doubt the chillest dog we've ever fostered! It's clear that she was in a loving home. Frankie is the kind of dog that immediately wins over "cat people" - she's interested in engaging but not demanding of attention or food, and will politely place her toy at your feet or lap to request it be tossed for her. She is great at solving puzzles and learning new commands. Frankie prefers to interact with small, calm, older dogs over larger/energetic ones. She's on a wellness journey of long walks, all-day fetch, and smaller portions to reach her ideal size. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Energy Level: MEDIUM: Needs a daily 60-90 minute walk or window of quick paced exercise (minimum) in addition to potty break strolls (10-30 min each). Also needs significant socializing opportunities outside the home and mental stimulation at home like tricks training practice, chew items, and puzzle toys. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.) Cuddle Bug Level Higher -- Loves to be near a lap or at your feet  Potty TrainedYes -- Few or no accidents  Comfy with strangers?  Yep -- Wants to be friends with everyone who walks by, super social butterfly, loves anyone who will stop to say hello.  Comfortable with Children? (cats, small pets, etc.)  Yes -- Seems to get along with other animals, either tries to play with them or is mostly uninterested  Mouthy Behavior? Low – Little to no interest in chewing on stuff or putting things in its mouth that aren’t food. Doesn’t try to chew on hands, feet, etc. during playtime, doesn’t wreck your stuff -- only chews on appropriate things like dog toys and bones.  Leash Manners? Old Pro – Seems like a dog that has been on leash before. Doesn’t pull hard or need much direction.  Okay in the city? Yes -- Seems unfazed by the sights and sounds, they may as well have been born here. Jumping on People to Say Hi? Medium – Jumps up only on people the dog knows when really excited. Stops with correction.  Separation Anxiety? Nope – Completely fine being left home alone. Doesn’t cry or do anything shitty when you leave the apartment or house.  Crate training? Not at all – Don’t even have one, I’ve puppy proofed and we free range.  Medical statusHealthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm negative; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake. She did have a knee surgery to correct her minor patella luxation last year to prevent any future problems down the line. She has no health issues now and her knees are now great: super important for her to not be overweight.  How this dog ended up with Social Tees:Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee, Puerto Rico or Southern California. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. To say I’m mildly obsessed with this petite, feisty full of sass in my pants girl, well, is accurate🙃 She’s a typical small dog who is Deaf but has a large personality. And like most typical smalls, she wants it her way when she wants it, and won’t hear of it any other way. Pixie is one of those dogs who has to make the first move. She will allow petting, kisses, being picked up when she’s ready and she will let you know when that time is. she can be protective of you also She weighs maybe 19 lbs full grown , is selective with other dogs and has the best time when she’s lounging on the couch or her little doggie bed. Casper is up to date on core vaccinations (age-appropriate) and is microchipped. He will be neutered prior to joining his forever home unless there is a medical reason why it has not yet been completed (in which case RDR NYC will work with the adopter to ensure this is done at the appropriate time). Casper is good with people, other dogs and even cats. This cute little guy was abandoned at a vet's office and fortunately made his way into our rescue and into our hearts!
