Story
Edith is such a wonderful lil lady. Adopted 15 months ago- she is a puppy mill mom who was kept in a kennel for 7 years. It has been amazing to watch her grow- learning steps, great at walks, bonding with other dogs (very curious, we have been working on introductions with new dogs- too excited, needs more socialization). She is a very quirky lady- snorts around when digging in blankets, sleeps with her head on the pillow next to me, poops while walking, afraid of her reflection- mirrors and shiny objects. Loves walks- hates the cold. Sleeps most of the day- gets random burst of really cute playfulness around 4:00pm. She will wake you up around 6:30am to go potty and will go right back to bed. Fenced in yard is best- she loves to run around. She may take a bit of time to adjust- following you around the house with curiosity. I recently had unexpected cervical spine surgery and am not able to give her the car she needs. She has brought so much joy to my life.

Visit our FAQ page to learn why. Meet Kirby! This wonderful, friendly 5-month-old pup is looking for his forever home.Kirby loves playing with other dogs and would be happiest with a canine companion. He also enjoys adventures and makes a great travel buddy. Walks? He has a bit of a love/hate relationship with them&#194&#151he won't be too disappointed if he skips one, but he still needs exercise. What he does love is spending time outside!Kirby is fully deaf and has experienced two seizures, most likely related to his deafness. He now takes an inexpensive medication three times a day and has had no further issues. The seizures may be temporary, or they could continue as he grows&#194&#151it's just too soon to tell. What's most important is that his forever family can provide a supportive environment for his deafness (using hand signals and plenty of patience!) while also keeping an eye on his health. This smart boy is already picking things up quickly! He knows how to sit&#194&#151especially for food&#194&#151and has learned signs for 'let's go/come,' 'food,' 'outside,' 'stay,' and 'potty.' While walks aren't his favorite, he's making steady progress with leash training and does well when he sees other dogs or people&#194&#151curious but calm.Kirby is also learning crate training. During the day, he does well and will happily go inside, though he may bark when he's ready to come out. At night, he still prefers to snuggle with the pack, especially now that he's more potty trained. Speaking of which&#194&#151he's doing great with house training! He occasionally has an accident but has even started going to the door when he needs to go outside.Something Kirby absolutely loves? Snuggles! He's happiest when curled up with his humans, playing with doggy friends, chewing sticks in the yard, or simply being close by. Because he's deaf, a fenced yard will be important for his safety while exploring outside.Kirby's perfect match will be someone who loves snuggles as much as he does and is also committed to ongoing training. Learning new signs has helped him blossom, and continuing that training will only make him more confident and connected to his people. This sweet, goofy boy is ready to bring joy, cuddles, and companionship to his forever family.November 18, 2025, 11:01 am

Story
Looking for a little dog with a whole lot of heart? Meet Ian! Ian is a 1.5-year-old black and white sweetheart who proves every day that a rough start does not define your future. This pint-sized boy previously suffered a hip injury, which has healed beautifully, and his happy, playful spirit never missed a beat. Ian is fun, boisterous, and full of contagious joy. He loves attention, enjoys romping around with his toys, and is always ready for a cuddle when playtime winds down. He does well with other dogs and would make a wonderful addition to a home with canine friends. Ian also loves his food and is happily not picky. He eats from a slow-feeder bowl to help him enjoy his meals at a healthy pace and aid digestion. Medical Transparency (the important but reassuring part): Ian has Diabetes Insipidus, which is not the same as diabetes mellitus. This condition affects how his body concentrates urine and has nothing to do with blood sugar. • Oral medication only — no shots or injections • Takes medication twice daily to maintain healthy urine concentration and support full bladder emptying • Medication may be lifelong or temporary, depending on future veterinary guidance • Medication cost can vary depending on the veterinarian or pharmacy • Needs frequent potty breaks Ian does wonderfully on his routine and is otherwise a happy, active, affectionate young dog. He is looking for a loving home that will appreciate his joyful personality and continue his simple daily care so he can thrive for years to come. Are you ready to give this resilient, playful boy the forever home he deserves? Basic Info: Male, 1 yr old, Boston Terrier/Chihuahua, Coat: Black and White, neutered, microchipped, up to date on shots and preventions, preventatives. Story
Loki is a great little dog. Smart as a whip and very energetic. He may be a little too jumpy for small children, even though he likes them. He can become very attached to his humans and is thus a little hyper when they leave him and has an issue with anxiety toileting if not crated when you leave. He lets you know when he needs to go outside! He also loves being a lap dog during quiet time. He is good with other dogs. I have to move due to my health and my new landlord won’t allow dogs. I am very sad about this as he is my little buddy. It would be better for him to go to a more active new home as well. He would be fine if you have another pet already. He has never been around cats though. He loves to move. He would be a great jogging or running partner. He also has potential as an agility dog as he is smart too. He’s fun, goofy and his face will steal your heart.

Story
Dudley is an 8-year-old French Bulldog who is happiest being your low-key sidekick. This affectionate and loyal guy is low-energy, gentle, easy-going, and does well with people and other dogs with slow introductions.Day to Day routineDudley had IVDD intervertebral disk disease, a back condition common in Frenchie's when he was 5. He is healed and had no further complications, but has some lingering hind-leg weakness, so he does best in a home with minimal stairs. He enjoys a relaxed lifestyle with short walks and lots of lounging. Ideal HomePatient adopter willing to keep a simple care routineBully breed experience preferredHome with minimal stairsIf you’re a kind and patient person who finds joy in helping a sweet dog live comfortably, Dudley will pay you back with loyalty, cuddles, and love every day.Due to a recent move to a home with multiple levels, and a job that requires travel, I’m looking for a setup that better supports Dudley’s mobility and long-term comfort.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Patita is a lovable 3-year-old Frenchie with a big personality packed into a compact little body! This sweet girl is equal parts playful and snuggly—she’s just as happy chasing a ball or playing tug-of-war as she is curling up in your lap for some quality cuddle time. Patita thrives on being with her people and will happily follow you from room to room, always ready for the next adventure… or nap. She absolutely loves car rides, making her the perfect co-pilot for errands or weekend outings. She’s a smart cookie, too! Patita already knows commands like sit, come, kennel/crate, outside, and quiet, and since she’s very treat-motivated, she’s eager to keep learning more. Patita is both leash trained and crate trained, making her an easy addition to a home that can continue building on her great foundation. While Patita has so many wonderful qualities, she’s still working through a couple things. She can show some resource guarding and tends to be reactive toward larger dogs, both in person and even on TV. Because of this, she would do best as the only dog or in a home experienced with managing these behaviors. She prefers to be the star of the show! Patita does have an old eye injury that makes her eye a bit cloudy. At present, there is nothing to be done, as it has healed. Down the road, she may need meds or medical attention, but nothing as of now! Her playful enthusiasm can sometimes lead to zoomies and excitement, so a home with older, dog-savvy kids would be the best fit. Patita’s ideal home is one that will embrace her fun-loving spirit—think games of fetch, tug-of-war, and lots of time spent together. In return, you’ll get an affectionate, loyal companion who just wants to love and be loved. If you’re looking for a sweet, spunky little companion who will keep you smiling and always be by your side, Patita might just be your perfect match Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.  Bulldogs, pugs, and Boston terriers, Brussels Griffons, Pekingese and others are a member of the Brachycephalic breed and therefore have a host of health issues that may arise.  Because these dogs are new into our rescue, health issues in the future may arise that we are not aware of.  Some of these issues are allergies, eye issues, yeast infections, interdigital cysts, slipped disks in their back, breathing problems, among a host of others that can occur at any time or when seasons change. While breed experience is not required, we encourage you to thoroughly research the breed and its financial, medical, and environmental needs to be sure this breed is a good fit for you and your family.  It is estimated that the average brachycephalic breed owner spends $2,000 per year on medical needs. In addition to other surgeries, this dog may have had surgery on their nares and soft palate to improve the quality of their breathing.  This will be partially reflected within her adoption fee. These breeds are one of the most expensive dogs to own, maintain, and rescue and our adoption fees reflect such expenses.  The application process for these breeds usually moves quite quickly as they are a popular breed, so we ask that adopters do research and be prepared for adoption at the time you submit your application.  They are happy, goofy, playful characters and we are excited you are taking the first steps into rescuing one!   This dog requires a separate application and an application fee.  This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void.    We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion. This dog requires a Bulldog Application.  All applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee.  Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the bulldog. Our goal is place bulldogs in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the bulldog, we will not approve your application. To learn more, visit  https://underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/bulldogs/ to fill out the Bulldog application. ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Meet Scooter, a quirky, snuggly little goofball with a big personality and an even bigger heart! This French Bulldog mix is full of love, energy, and opinions. At about 30 pounds, he's the perfect size for lap cuddles—which just happen to be one of his favorite things in the world. Belly rubs? Yes, please. Ice cubes? Delicious. Chasing the hose? Pure joy. He’s got a playful streak a mile wide and adores games like tug-of-war, keep-away, and wrestling with trusted dog friends. But let’s be real—Scooter is not your average, easygoing pup. He’s had a rough go somewhere along the line, and he’s working hard to feel safe in the world. He has a few non-negotiables: he needs time to build trust, doesn’t like chaos, and absolutely does not want anyone messing with his ears unless you're in the inner circle. Men make him nervous, and he's not a fan of being left alone too long. Scooter is also very food-motivated—which can be both a training superpower and a trigger for resource guarding, especially around other dogs.  Scooter does best being fed in a separate area, if dogs reside in the home.  He is also picky with his canine friends.  He has been fine with more mellow dogs.  Bouncy puppy energy is something he would prefer to avoid.   Scooter can and will lunge or bite if he feels overwhelmed or scared. He’s made huge progress in foster care, but he needs a calm, confident human who will continue that journey with patience, structure, and maybe even a good trainer in their corner. He’s not crate-trained (he finds crates stressful), and he’s not suited for homes with kids or lots of commotion. A fenced yard is a must—he needs space to run and decompress. Here’s the flip side: once you’re “his person,” Scooter will love you with his whole goofy heart. He’s affectionate, loyal, and eager to please. He’s smart and knows commands like sit, down, leave it, and “go potty.” He’s house-trained and walks well on leash. He loves toys, attention, and being part of the action—as long as it’s not too much action. Scooter isn’t for everyone, but if you’re someone who sees the beauty in helping a misunderstood dog bloom, Scooter might be your perfect project-turned-best-friend. He’ll make you laugh, keep you company, and love you fiercely. And that, friends, is a pretty special kind of magic. Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption.
