Story
Meet Tawny! She is an nine-year-young Boston Terrier/Chihuahua mix who weighs 12 lbs. Tawny's favorite human recently passed away and unfortunately the family did not want to keep her and she ended up and the shelter scared and confused. But now she is living in a loving foster home and adjusting to a new life. Tawny loves other dogs but she loves them on her time and needs time to warm up. She can be a little hungry for affection which in turn can make her a little grouchy if another pup tries to steal her human from her but it’s easily corrected as she is so intelligent and a pleaser. She is definitely a sassy and sweet girl who loves to walk but is fairly low energy. She is great traveling partner in the car and absolutely loves children! Tawny is the ultimate snuggle buddy who is so easy. She is potty trained, crate trained and leash trained. She would make an excellent addition to anyone that has experience with spicy pups and can give her the love she is missing from her human in heaven. Story
I found this dog wandering around the auto center in Riverside, California. I put up signs all around in a 2-mile radius and also posted him on: Petco Lost Love, PawBoost, NextDoor, Instagram, and Facebook and had three different vets check him for a chip. No chip was found. No one has come forward for this cute dog. I believe he is just under a year old. I would like him to have a good family and indoor living being part of a family. I'm not sure how he is with children. He is young and energetic but once worn out will just lay by your feet. I have had him for 2 1/2months now and really need to get him a home as soon as possible. I think he was a stray. As of 12/02/24 we had him neutered and had all of his shots done at Alessandro Animal Hospital.

Story
You may have seen Carl looking for a home earlier this year. We thought we had found the perfect match for him with a family that was committed to following the rules that came with Carl and continue his training he learned while in board and train. We were explicitly clear with them that Carl is going to be an only dog and is not your dog park kind of a guy. They assured us they were fine with Carl being an only dog. Alas, Carl is back looking for a home after his adopters did not follow the rules and allowed Carl to make bad choices. And then they decided that Carl needed to meet other dogs – that did not go well – especially because Carl knew he could get away with bad choices. So here he is paying the price. We apologized to Carl and told him we would be sure to find him a family that will follow through with what he needs – a leader and someone able and willing to make him follow rules. Carl came to Boston Buddies after being dropped in the overnight box at the Devore Shelter. Thankfully that’s in the past, now Carl is safe, living the good life , and hoping to find his new family! Car is just 2 years old and weighs 20 lbs. Carl is a dreamboat of a dog and super cute with mesmerizing soulful eyes and an irrestible “no way you can’t fall in love’ mug – which can lead a lot of people to excuse his bad choices. That is not what Carl needs. Carl is most happy with a person who will hold him accountable and also engage him in the games and fun that feed his soul with joy. Carl will do best as an only pet in a home with a yard so he can run and play with abandon in his own space. Carl loves to play tug and is learning how to do agility and his trainer thinks he would do great in “bite work” which is a great skill that you can learn with him to increase your bond with your new boy – and you can also show it off to your friends – how many of them have a dog that can do bite work?! We do know that without a doubt he will absolutely steal your heart. Carl is pretty much the perfect package for anything you’re up to. Whether you’re out on a structured walk, enjoying a hike in the hills, looking for some sweet lap sits and snuggles, or needing a cuddle buddy on the couch, you can always count on Carl! Simply put, you won’t find a happier, healthier, more handsome guy than our charming Carl. If you’re ready to be swept off your feet by one of the most delightful dogs you’ll ever meet, fill out an ADOPTION application for CARL on our website Bostonbuddies.org Adoption fee $450 For a video showing off all the skills Carl has click here (note that although the video shows Carl with another dog that is the trainers personal dog who is well balanced and the introduction was done by professionals – we are only looking for an only pet home for Carl) - https://www.magisto.com/video/P14bIEEHADMuUQNiCzE?l=vsm... Story
Meet BAMBI!! Our bubbly little beauty is hoping to have the happiest of Holidays with humans and a home she can call her very own for this season and every single one to come! At just 4 years young, Bambi is braver than most, has been working incredibly hard to overcome her heartbreaking past, to build confidence and trust, and to blossom into the very best version of her beautiful Boston self. You see, Bambi was brought in to the Mendocino Humane Society and was on extremely borrowed time after being confiscated with 4 other dogs from an absolutely horrific situation. She, the 4 other dogs, and two teenagers were abandoned for a year living on some property in utterly unimaginable terrifyingly inhumane conditions. Thankfully, Bambi and the 4 dogs (one being Weezey, a fellow Buddy who has already been adopted out) were brought to safety. But upon arrival, they sadly deemed Bambi unadaptable due to her behavior (can you blame her for being completely frightened after all she’s been through?)! As soon as we received news of Bambi, an amazing army of rescue warriors got to work to get both Bambi and Weezey all the way down South to safety with Boston Buddies. When Bambi arrived our volunteer wasn’t able to handle her initially. She was understandably fearful and frightened of everyone and everything, but ever SO slowly, Bambi started to let her guard down. After a few months of diligently working with Kerianne at Beyond Behavior K9 Training, we couldn’t be more proud of how beautifully Bambi has blossomed and how confident she has become. Our once timid girl has turned a corner and has transformed into an affectionate, smart, playful pup. From not being able to be handled to walking like a lady on her leash, from not wanting to be touched to rolling over for a belly rub, from living on the land to learning how to be a great indoors gal and loving her place, Bambi is the epitome of grace and strength. Her transformation is a true testament to her resilience and to the sweetness that lives in her soul; after living through unimaginable hardship, our little lady is finally able to shine! Bambi gets along with other dogs and has got the most impeccable manners. Although she has made remarkable strides with her behavior and wellbeing, Bambi is still a girl who requires a strong human, someone who will be her leader and be willing to continue to guide her and build her confidence. She will thrive with humans who’d be happy to keep up her training and provide her with a structured, stable, patient, happy home. After all she’s been through, Bambi is surprisingly healthy! She is vaccinated, heart worm and fecal tested, spayed, and microchipped. She recently had surgery to fix her luxating patellas and is in perfect shape to be your lifelong buddy and FUREVER best gal. Bambi has worked tirelessly to be the very best she can be for her very special furever family. Tis the season of happiness, joy, giving and and gratitude; give the greatest gift to BAMBI—the goodness of life, the happiness of human love and affection, a steady safe home to call her very own, the consistency of a steadfast companion. ADOPT BAMBI, the gratitude and unconditional love you’ll receive, not just for the season, but for all of her days will be the most beautiful gift to you. Give good, give a second chance, fill out an ADOPTION application for Bambi on our website www.bostonbuddies.org Adoption fee $400 November 26, 2024, 3:16 pm

Story
Buster’s story starts out very sad.  His owner, who could no longer care for him, brought Buster to the Carlsbad shelter to be euthanized. Per his previous owner, Buster is a 14-year-old Pug/Boston mix, he is deaf, has a stiff gate, a couple of small masses, dental disease and suffers from incontinence. Well, the shelter could not bring themselves to put him down & felt Buster still had some life to live.  They reached out to their rescue partners for his exit. One look at his cute little face and our Boston Buddies Director knew we had to help this old guy.  When his foster parents went to pick him up from the shelter he was wrapped in a towel, was shaking from nerves and looked very sad. As he sat in his foster Mom’s lap for the ride home, he started to perk up.  It was like he knew everything was going to be alright. Upon arriving home, he was unwrapped, to their surprise, he has a long skinny tail. Not a tiny little nub of a tail like most Boston Terriers or a curly tail like a Pug. Mafe us wonder what breeds made up this special little man. His foster Mom bought a DNA kit and swabbed little Buster’s cheek and sent off the sample to solve this mystery.  As they waited on the test results, they integrated Buster with their pack.  He blended in seamlessly.  They started him on some supplements to help his arthritis and took him outside frequently to avoid potty accidents. They also report while his hearing isn’t great, he definitely can hear. Buster was taken to our vet where he received a full dental with 9 extractions & the masses were removed.  He was also fecal, and heartworm tested (both negative). The shelter had already given him his vaccines and microchipped him. He was already neutered and weighs a healthy 22 pounds. After receiving the “senior makeover”, Buster has shown his gratitude by the joy and sunshine he brings to everyone he comes in contact with.  His foster Mom says every time she looks at Buster, she can’t help but smile. While it is true that he moves at a snail’s pace, eats kind of slow (he savors every bite) and can’t do stairs – he reminds us to “chill out” and take time to smell the roses. He has so many positive attributes, like being great in the car, dog friendly, never barks, never chews on things he shouldn’t or never digs in the yard.  At night he is carried upstairs to sleep in bed with his foster Mom.  He wears a diaper at night, so no one worries about waking up to a soggy bed. Every morning his Foster Mom immediately carries him downstairs and takes him outside to potty. She continues to take him outside every couple of hours so he can take care of his business. As long as he is taken out frequently, he doesn’t have accidents. If you have to leave the house for an extended amount of time, you might want to put a diaper on him or block off an area and put down potty pads to avoid a mess. His perfect home would be one where a family member is around most of the time. Now what you all have been waiting for, we received his DNA results and they showed that Buster is 100% Boston Terrier. Not going to lie, we were surprised, we truly thought another breed had to be mixed in there. We were betting he was a mix of Boston Terrier, Pug and Unicorn because this guy is one in a million!  If you are looking to sweeten up your holidays, we suggest adding a dash of sweet Buster to your family mix.  Go ahead (you know you want to) and complete an adoption application at www.BostonBuddies.org.  Adoption Donation $200.00November 26, 2024, 3:39 pm

Story
He just wants to be with his humans, is a good companion, and is quirky and stubborn but can make you laugh because he is so weird. He loves all food and car rides. Would be good with a senior and someone who likes to cook.' Also, Buddy Lou “brings his personality to the table!” - Buddy Lou's Foster Mom. Now, how can you say no to that!?Buddy Lou is a 6.5-yr-old Pug/Boston Terrier who loves his people, is crate trained, and knows place. He typically looks to his people for direction and knows to wait. Super happy, 29-pound Buddy always has a smile. Buddy also never met a snack he didn't like. To maintain his svelte physique, which is important to keep his back healthy, he eats a high fiber diet of raw veggies and weight maintenance dry food. Don't let that description fool you...he loves them! He also takes supplements for his joints and back. Buddy Lou just really wants a forever home with someone who will take good care of him and keep him as happy, healthy, and loving as he is right now. He’d do best in a home with older children (teens) and would thrive as an only dog. Want to meet this little guy? Fill out an application today!November 4, 2024, 8:32 pm

Story
Meet 5 year old, 36 lb. friendly French Bulldog, Rockie. Rockie was surrendered to us by his owner, who no longer had the ability to properly care for him. Rockie's owner took him in about a year earlier from another unfortunate situation, where his owner/constant companion passed away. Rockie loves people, walks, and belly rubs. He is well-behaved as long as he doesn’t have a stuffed toy. Rockie is obsessed with toys. He is a great companion for people. He may react to other dogs. For that reason, he needs to be the only dog in your home. Rockie is a very solid, sturdy dog that needs an experienced owner, and no young children. Rockie is on allergy medication and a special diet. If you are interested in Rockie, go to adoptocpets.org/adopt to download an adoption application.

Story
Tyson--a handsome, small, 4 year old, male Frenchie--is ready for an experienced owner that lives a quiet life without a lot of humans visiting. Neutered, Tyson is up to date with all of his vaccines, and is microchipped. He can be very selective about who he likes and who he is unsure about. Tyson did not have a lot of boundaries in his previous home, so he learned to guard his food. His food aggression is manageable by someone who is willing to earn his trust and build a relationship with him. He is not overly affectionate, but he does enjoy body and belly scratches by his favorite person. If you are interested in adopting or fostering Tyson, please research breed related health issues prior to submitting an application. When you are committed to what it takes to keep Tyson healthy, submit an application!November 4, 2024, 8:32 pm
