Story
Meet Miss Chiquita Banana! Chiquita is an outgoing and loving dog. She loves everybody and everything around her. She loves to go on daily walks around the neighborhood and is great walking on leash. She also travels very well in the car. Chiquita has a great little personality and really just wants to sit with someone all day. Chiquita rarely barks but she does make some weird alien like noises at times. LOL Chiquita is being fostered with another small dog and they get along fine. Chiquita has been around cars too and does fine with them as well. Her favorite toy is the mini tennis ball, she loves to just carry it around with her. She loves to take long naps on the couch during the day. And sunbathing is part of her daily routine! Unfortunately, she had a really rough life before we rescued her. When we rescued her, she was so skinny, her coat was horrible, she had the worst case of Giardia (intestinal parasite), an injury to her left eye, a heart murmur and a partial intestinal blockage that by some miracle she was able to pass. Chiquita had a echocardiogram done on her heart and it revealed she has a couple of valves that are causing her murmur. It is not too bad right now, but at some point later in her life she may require medication, but for now she is doing fine heart wise! In regards to her eye, she had old corneal scarring and a corneal ulcer, all very painful for her. She had eye drops and ointment everyday in her left eye to help with the pain and pressure. The eye pressure was on the higher side of normal, but her eye was bulging and very red. She had very little to no vision in this eye too. So, we made the hard decision to have her eye removed so she can be pain free. Since getting the eye removed and she has healed from surgery, she is no longer in pain and as a result, has turned into a whole new dog. You can really see her whole personality shine through now! She is happy and playful!Chiquita is possibly the sweetest dog with the crappiest past we have come across in a long time. She loves people and delights in any amount of attention she receives. We are pretty sure she was just a puppy making machine. And when she couldn't do it anymore they threw her out like last night's garbage. Chiquita is a red Boston terrier and weighs about 17 pounds. She is full grown and we think she is about 6-7 years old. Chiquita is spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, has gained a few pounds, all of her medical is cleared up and she is ready to go into her forever home. Our adoptions are restricted to residents within 30 miles of the South Bay area of Los Angeles.
