Story
Hi I'm Artichoke. I'm a 3-4 year old 16 lb Boston terrier. I am house broken and crate trained, spayed, current on vaccines and microchipped. I am adorable but I definitely need leadership bc if I don't have that I will be a bossy Boston! I am leash reactive so I need you to let me know you are the boss. if not I will act like a brat. I am ok with dogs once I have had a proper introduction. wanna be best friends? *please note All of our dogs are in private foster homes. Once you fill out an application it will be screened by our volunteer adoption team. From there, if your application looks like a good fit for the particular dog, it will be sent to the foster where you can ask all the questions you would like and schedule a meet and greet. We do not transport our dogs. If you apply from out of state we do request you come to Los Angeles to meet us and fly home in cabin or drive. www.apurposefulrescue.org

Story
Meet Miss Chiquita Banana! Chiquita is an outgoing and loving dog. She loves everybody and everything around her. She loves to go on daily walks around the neighborhood and is great walking on leash. She also travels very well in the car. Chiquita has a great little personality and really just wants to sit with someone all day. Chiquita rarely barks but she does make some weird alien like noises at times. LOL Chiquita is being fostered with another small dog and they get along fine. Chiquita has been around cars too and does fine with them as well. Her favorite toy is the mini tennis ball, she loves to just carry it around with her. She loves to take long naps on the couch during the day. And sunbathing is part of her daily routine! Unfortunately, she had a really rough life before we rescued her. When we rescued her, she was so skinny, her coat was horrible, she had the worst case of Giardia (intestinal parasite), an injury to her left eye, a heart murmur and a partial intestinal blockage that by some miracle she was able to pass. Chiquita had a echocardiogram done on her heart and it revealed she has a couple of valves that are causing her murmur. It is not too bad right now, but at some point later in her life she may require medication, but for now she is doing fine heart wise! In regards to her eye, she had old corneal scarring and a corneal ulcer, all very painful for her. She had eye drops and ointment everyday in her left eye to help with the pain and pressure. The eye pressure was on the higher side of normal, but her eye was bulging and very red. She had very little to no vision in this eye too. So, we made the hard decision to have her eye removed so she can be pain free. Since getting the eye removed and she has healed from surgery, she is no longer in pain and as a result, has turned into a whole new dog. You can really see her whole personality shine through now! She is happy and playful!Chiquita is possibly the sweetest dog with the crappiest past we have come across in a long time. She loves people and delights in any amount of attention she receives. We are pretty sure she was just a puppy making machine. And when she couldn't do it anymore they threw her out like last night's garbage. Chiquita is a red Boston terrier and weighs about 17 pounds. She is full grown and we think she is about 6-7 years old. Chiquita is spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, has gained a few pounds, all of her medical is cleared up and she is ready to go into her forever home. Our adoptions are restricted to residents within 30 miles of the South Bay area of Los Angeles. We do not ship animals or do long distance adoptions. See our adoption policies for more details on our adoption process. Story
Meet Otis! Otis is a 3 year old male French Bulldog. After a few years of love and care in his current home and after being in and out of shelters his first two years of life before that, Otis is unfortunately again in search of a new forever home. His current owner’s career involves a significant amount of travel and unfortunately cannot care for Otis the way he needs and is heartbroken to have to part ways. Otis is extremely athletic and loves to play, chase balls, flirt poles, and tugs. Otis has been through training before and is house trained, crate trained, e-collar trained, working through muzzle training and knows how to walk on leash. Otis’s current commands include his name, house, come, sit, down, place, leave it. His current trainer is happy to facilitate a safe transition to a new home free of charge as well as ongoing training. Otis would do well in a home with an experienced handler who has worked with dogs who need just a little extra help and boundaries and who can manage his triggers and struggles. He would do well with ideally just one person as his primary caretaker and no other pets or children in the home. The things Otis struggles with include trusting new people, impulse control when he is uncomfortable, and resource guarding. All which have significantly improved but also why he would only do well with someone who has handled these behaviors before and can be conscious about not putting him in scenarios where he would respond inappropriately. Once Otis trusts you he is the sweetest dog who just wants to be pet and played with. Otherwise he is happy chewing a bone on his cot or sleeping in his crate. Please consider helping Otis out because even through his struggles he deserves a good loving home with someone who understands him and can help keep improving his behavior

Story
Meet Beethoven, a lively 2-year-old Chihuahua/Pug mix who’s looking for a loving home. Beethoven is a people-loving pup who thrives on human companionship and is full of playful energy. He is closely bonded to Elsa, who may even be his mother, and he tends to look for her when they’re apart. Though Beethoven can be a bit aggressive with other dogs, he is a true sweetheart with people and has no medical concerns. He was found abandoned with Elsa in an apartment after his previous family moved out, and they were rescued by a landlord who brought them to a shelter. Beethoven is ready to bring joy and affection into a home where he can continue to be the playful and loving dog he is, ideally with Elsa by his side. He’s eager to find a family who can provide him with the love and attention he deserves.

Story
Meet Elsa, a delightful 7-year-old Pug mix with a heart full of love and a playful spirit. Elsa was found abandoned with Beethoven, who may be her son, in an apartment after their previous family moved out. Thankfully, a compassionate landlord discovered them and brought them to a shelter, where they were given a second chance. Elsa is incredibly friendly with people and has a playful nature that makes her a joy to be around. She’s deeply bonded to Beethoven and looks for him when they’re apart, so they’ll need to find a home together. While Elsa is great with people, she can be aggressive with other dogs, so a home where she’s the only dog would be ideal. In excellent health with no medical concerns, Elsa is ready to bring her affectionate and lively personality to a loving home. If you’re looking for a devoted companion who adores people and enjoys playtime, Elsa and Beethoven are eager to share their love and loyalty with you.
