In my defense&#44 I tried my hardest to relax and enjoy my home and family. But in the end&#44 it was probably better that I was returned to the shelter. I can be especially nervous and unsure around men. I do find that the men who work at Great Plains are super&#44 and I can relax around them. Iandamp;#39;m an old soul&#44 a sensitive young boy who needs a family that will understand me. andlt;br/andgt;andlt;br/andgt;Iandamp;#39;ve been blessed by having time in a foster home&#44 and Iandamp;#39;ll tell you what&#44 I have learned a lot about living life feeling safe and secure. And Great Plains has learned a lot about me. I lived with two dogs&#44 and we all got along just great. There were also a bunch of cats in this house&#44 and I was happy around all of them. Iandamp;#39;m kennel trained&#44 and Iandamp;#39;m house trained. And&#44 Iandamp;#39;m even good on leash. Iandamp;#39;m the perfect size&#44 and Iandamp;#39;m a handsome little devil too&#44 if I do say so myself.andlt;br/andgt;andlt;br/andgt;My friends have learned that I donandamp;#39;t really like raised voices with undertones of harshness. If things get loud&#44 I get scared&#44 I will start to tremble&#44 and I will try to find a good place to hide. My preferred method of communication&#44 you ask? Well&#44 I LOVE baby talk. Speak to me in soft&#44 sweet and gentle tones&#44 and I simply swoon Iandamp;#39;m so happy. I guess this goes back to my saying I think of myself as a sensitive soul. andlt;br/andgt;andlt;br/andgt;Apparently&#44 I was originally brought to the shelter after animal control found my sibling and me wandering close to a local park. At first we were scared&#44 but I started to open up to the staff and volunteers who were patient and willing to give me time to warm up. They found out I have an extremely sweet and cuddly side once I let my guard down&#44 and now I get cuddles from EVERYONE. I also LOVE to spend time with other dogs at the shelter. They help me to feel more confident and willing to try new things. Do you have a dog at home that would like a friend like me? As for kids&#44 I do like kids&#44 and I even lived with one! A kind woman had tried to feed me near her momandamp;#39;s house&#44 but I was too scared and ran away. She told the rescuers where she last saw me&#44 near a park.andlt;br/andgt;andlt;br/andgt;The rescuers talked to a city worker who had heard about me but hadnandamp;#39;t seen me himself. They didnandamp;#39;t give up and kept looking for me. They drove around the upper edge of the park and found a wire crate in the woods. I was hiding in a tire next to it when they found me.andlt;br/andgt;andlt;br/andgt;They carefully backed up their van and managed to secure me. When we arrived at the shelter&#44 they assessed my injuries. The chain around my neck had been so heavy that it had embedded into my skin&#44 leaving wounds shaped like chain links. Even though I was hurt&#44 I tried my best to be friendly and patient during the assessment.andlt;br/andgt;andlt;br/andgt;Now&#44 Iandamp;#39;m healing and dreaming of a loving home where I can finally feel safe and happy.
