Story
Parson is a 7-month-old, 14-pound scruffy Border Terrier mix with a whole lot of energy and an eagerness to please! His tail wags his whole body, and he’s always ready to play. While he’s not a cuddly lap dog (at least not yet), he’s affectionate in his own way and loves being around his people and dog friends.Parson is already learning some basics—he knows how to sit and is making great progress with crate training. He sleeps through the night in his crate with his goldendoodle foster sibling and can stay calmly in his crate alone for shorter periods. He’s also doing fantastic with potty training, going to the door or crying when he needs to go out—no accidents in the house!Parson gets along well with other dogs and especially loves his goldendoodle foster sibling, so he might do best in a home with a larger, laid-back dog to help show him the ropes. He’s still in the early stages of leash training but is learning. If you’re looking for a playful, happy pup who’s ready to learn and grow, Parson might just be your perfect match!IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. If you are seeing our pets posted in your state, that's because you live near a transport stop, they are not currently at that location. Petfinder lists our pets as 'Out of Town' pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Those are currently the only options they offer to make this clear, so we put this description we've put at the bottom to explain it. You can read more about transport here: www.charmingpetrescue.org/transportWe understand transport is not an option for everyone, but we offer it at the cost we pay the transport company for those who wish to adopt from us.March 7, 2025, 9:28 pm

Story
Our pretty gal, Hammie, is a two time visitor to our Rescue. Initially, she came to us in 2018 after the family toddlers had frayed her last nerve. When our NYCACC Shelter contacts diverted Hammie to us, we welcomed her heartily! Not all dogs enjoy frantic kid affection, so we placed Hammie with an active senior and the match seemed ideal. When unforeseen health issues required Hammie’s adopter to move in with family, the kid issue again came into play.  At the age of 8, Hammie is ready for her third act in an active adult home where she can unwind and be herself. Hammie is a genial, energetic dog, who loves to play and, despite her age, holds her own in a puppy playgroup. She could easily thrive in an active adult home with other playful dogs. She has blended into our crazy quilt, multi-dog foster home easily.  It seems to us that Hammie is a comical Terrier mix, most likely Border Terrier and perhaps Standard Dachshund. She has a stout physique, slightly elongated spine and half mast, goofy ears that can’t decide which way is up. She is a sturdy girl at just 21 pounds, and has fantastic presence for a small dog. Hammie has good house manners and is house trained and crate trained. Adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during her transition to a new home. She is in optimal health and has been spayed. She has received routine vaccinations and health screenings. If you are interested in Hammie, please write to Denise at Angelsfrgod@aol.com or call/text Denise at 860-908-9738 for more info.
